orbitron 02-27-2003, 02:43 PM So the verdict is.... P2K 2Pro for the best stock motor?

Yup!
22Racer 02-27-2003, 07:03 PM If you don't have acces to a lathe for turning armatures I suggest the non pro version motors. They have harder brushes and will last longer between rebuilds, and you can hardly tell the difference in power (unless your a pro racer, and you wouldn't be asking us which motor anyway). You can still put better brushes in later if you get a lathe. I've never seen a racetrack turn anyone away that had reverse, they just yell at you when you use it while racing. It can be frustrating when practicing by yourself without reverse.
orbitron 02-28-2003, 01:10 AM Thanks for the info on the difference between the pro and non-pro. I will use it wisely.
So I went to my LHS (not really my but a) and found out they stock and restock XX-T parts. So I picked up a graphite front shock tower and a body mount. The rigidity of the shock tower amazes me!Ironically the suppleness of the body mount also amazes me! I can see why the body mount wouldn't break as easily, but wouldn't the reverse be true of the shock tower?
Also he charges about $20 CAD with tax for a bag of graphite parts. Am I getting gouged? And if not what should go graphite next, front arms and hub carriers? I am full of questions today non?
Mames 03-04-2003, 01:13 AM hay does anyone know what color losi springs are equal to the stock evader yellow springs so i do not but the same springs?
thank you
matt
Mames 03-04-2003, 01:18 AM hey here is the set up sheet that i made. it took a while but finaly can post. let me know what you think.

cjtamu 03-04-2003, 09:01 AM Setup sheet looks great. I can ditch the XXT ones I down loaded now. Thanks.
Mames 03-04-2003, 11:45 PM cjtamu its funny you mentioned the xxt set-up sheet, i started of just trying to convert that to the evader, but i went hog wild with touching up the drawings and decided that i would re-draw the suspension for the evader instead. i almost started to do a t-3 set up sheet to mimic this one, but i just cant force my self to do it. anyway hope it help you and averyon eles.

22Racer 03-11-2003, 12:25 AM I've been playing with the diff. I already had asc. diff rings and balls, and losi thrust bearings. The diff still wasn't smoothas it should be as many people complain about. So I bought some carbide balls and a asc. diff spring. I put them in and it was as smooth as our Losi. I'm not sure if the spring helped any but it does have more coils so it won't bottom out as easy. the only prob was the hole was a little small, I just drilled it out with a 1/8 drill it's not to hard. I haven't run it yet because we just got some more snow but soon it will be gone.
orbitron 03-11-2003, 12:15 PM I just sent Duratrax an Email -
Hello.
I have an Evader ST and I noticed there was a nitro version coming out with CV Shafts. (DTXC7283 CV Shaft Set) Will it be possible to put these shafts in my electric Evader? If so, when will they be available to market?
They are fast to reply so I will update everyone when I find out the answer.
orbitron 03-11-2003, 06:34 PM Thank you for your recent e-mail.
Unfortunately those parts are designed specifically for the nitro Evader. The design and size will not let them work in the electric version of that truck. Sorry, we couldn't be of more help to you.
That sucks!
22Racer 03-11-2003, 07:18 PM I have Losi xxcr mip cvd's on ours, with xx rear hubs it works great and is better than duratrax stuff. There only like $15 more than stock replacement.
Krapolla 03-13-2003, 02:28 PM Has anyone had a problem getting the pin out of the input shaft on the transmission. It looks like it just pulls out but I can't seem to get mine to move. Now it seems like something in the tranny shifted and I just can't slap it back together without getting it apart.
ronbeck 03-13-2003, 02:36 PM it's a pain in @#s to get out. i use curved plires to press it out. but if you jus want to take it apart, after you take the three long screws out and pull it apart. alittle tuff but will come off with alittle effort.
good luck
peter :)
Mames 03-22-2003, 11:09 PM hey what happened to every one? i am putting gathering up spare parts for my sons 1st race and was wondering whatspare parts i should have on hand. or should i just find a hole truck? i have all jeps braces, 2 extra body mounts , a front shock tower? anything eles?

Mavrick 03-22-2003, 11:39 PM Get lots of front hub carriers and a pair of knucle arms. I broke 9 front hub carriers already. I have changed the last break out to XXT front hub carriers and all is well so far.
Mames 03-23-2003, 11:33 PM weel he and i have broken 3 front arms the last 3 times out. i am going to switch to losi xxt arms, but i will pick up some hub carriers also. thank you. any one still having diff problems?

cjtamu 03-24-2003, 01:14 PM Mames, you'll like the XXT A-arms. My daughter hasn't been able to break one yet. You'll have to drill the hole for the inner hinge pin slightly, I think it's either 7/64" or 1/8".
Mames 03-24-2003, 11:34 PM hey cjtamu , when you put the arms on did you have to drill the outside hindge pin hole on the arm? read some where they were a different size? just pick them up along with rear arms.

matt
cjtamu 03-25-2003, 12:02 AM Mames, my bad, it's actually the outer holes that have to be drilled. I did the inners on the Duratrax A-arms because I didn't like the way they stuck. I don't think I had to do the inner holes w/ the XXT arms. Go to p. 65 on the Evader Owners thread and you'll see what I did. 20/20 hindsight I wouldn't drill the hub carriers, just the A-arms.
22Racer 03-25-2003, 01:06 AM The Losi arms are 1/8 hole on inner side. You will have a little slop with duratrax hinge pins. Use losi hinge pins and drill bulkhead to 1/8. My diff. is still really smooth. the weather got nice here and got some runs in. The secret, carbide diff balls.
mr_bojingles 04-12-2003, 01:35 PM I am thinking about racing my evader(my friend is going to buy one too) I live near Manistee, MI and the closet offroad track to me is Gaylord(2 hours away) I called the one in Traverse City(1 hour away) but they said they were closing the track and only did oval, and some other thing but with no jumps and on carpet. My questions are:
Is there any other tracks within a couple hours of me?
and, is the stock evader legal to race with the photon? I have a p2k and novak 610-hrv esc in mine(everything else is stock), but my friend is in question since he only has a photon right now(well, once he gets it). We will probably order a new engine for him in time, but from what I have heard the green machine is better then the p2k2, right? Do the pro versions require more maintence since they use different brushes? If that the case we will just order the non-pro for him. thanks in advance!
cjtamu 04-12-2003, 09:02 PM 1) Don't know about the tracks, but there's a track finder on this site. Also quite a few guys from MI. I'd post in Evader Owners too.
2) The Photon isn't legal under ROAR rules for Stock Truck or Novice, but it will really depend on your track. A lot of times they make allowances, esp. in the Novice class.
3) I really like the P2K. I put one in my son's buggy, and I wish I had it in my Evader instead of the Orion Core stock. Yes, the pro version will require more maintenance because of the harder brushes.
Wyndigo 06-10-2004, 12:14 PM Hi everyone, looks like no one has posted here in over a month, but thought I'd give it a try.
I live in Florida and race dirt oval with my evader, but I'm looking for a track in Michigan as I'll be there next spring, I'll be about an hour from Gaylord.
Far as my truck goes, I use a Novak Dually ESC,Have been using Team Orion 10x3,Trinity D5 10x2 motors and the gearing is set at 15 pinion 87 spur.I just bought a new motor for it, got the Reedy Kr in 10x2, hoping to push the truck a little faster around the track.
Good Racing

ronbeck 06-11-2004, 09:15 PM welcome.
this forum, seems to pick up in the summer.
what is your shock set up?
peter
:)
Wyndigo 06-12-2004, 09:59 PM Hi ronbeck lol it is summer here in florida :) hoping to race tommorow if it doesnt rain on us all day, want to try out that new Kr and see what happens.
The shocks are the stock set, just have them all set loose as possible to smooth out the small bumps and dips on the track.I'll post tommorow night on how the day went
ronbeck 06-12-2004, 10:57 PM good luck.
peter
Wyndigo 06-13-2004, 08:55 PM :) I ran my old orion 10x3 for the first heat, took second
second heat, I had the Kr in, took first
A-main took first after a battle with a 4 wheel drive buggy
That Kr motor is stupid fast! but would be too much for offroad in my opinion unless you had a few long straightaways.
On a slightly different note, where is the track finder on this site?
Alan

If you go to www.rcaction.com (http://www.rcaction.com) there is a track finder. Will you be south of gaylord or where? There is a track that isn't on there that is located on M-72 west of farview.
ronbeck 06-21-2004, 06:52 PM wyndigo,
how was the racing?
i have picked up one of the new evader pro parts form my son's truck last week. the "idler gear alum evader series net" was $19.99. hoping this one will last. evader#1 has had a clicking noise coming from tghe tranny insides. for me it always a bad iddle gear. i have peiced a whole new tranny together(well in a pile but not assembled). hoping get it done before school gets out thursday.
i painted and mounted a losi xx-tcr body on evader #1 before my last surgry. hoping the lhs gets a xxx-t body in soon. evader #2 is running my first body(hpi baja). and is showing it's age.
hope everybody else has had fun and good luck running, and good weather.
peter

Wyndigo 06-28-2004, 09:49 PM :) Hi Peter the racing was great (I posted on page 12) took 2nd in the first heat using my old orion motor, which I found out has a bad bushing, so its in the box .. cant be fixed. second heat I had dropped the new reedy Kr motor into the truck, took first place and had almost lapped the second place driver, he was using a four wheel drive buggy,in the A-main I took first place.
Thanks for the track locater info :)
I'll be just outside of Atlanta,Michigan during the winter and spring, are there any indoor tracks or all outdoor?
Alan

toddhuss 07-31-2008, 09:54 PM I just bought an evader EXT, and 5 minutes after turning it on, the gears started to slip and it started to whine. 5 more minutes and the motor is spinning, it's whining, grinding a little, and wheels aren't moving. My 9 year old is crushed...help!!
Tdevil 07-31-2008, 10:19 PM Sounds like the motor screws loosened up, the mesh between the pinion and spur got too loose and you have probably ground the teeth off of the spur gear.
If that is the case, a new spur gear (the big plastic one) will solve the problem. Putting a piece of paper between the pinion and the spur gear, pushing the motor so the mesh is as tight as possible, tightening the motor screws and removing the piece of paper should give you the right gear mesh.
Hope it helps,
John
