jbm38 02-02-2003, 03:51 AM Just finished my car last night @ the track and tested with it. Very good set-up out of the box. Thanks Danny for the set-up. A few changes for my track. Changed the tires and side spring from suggested set-up and upper a-arm location. Next week will be the real test, actual competition.
JW Housley 02-03-2003, 01:39 AM Ran my KSG Extreme CS for the second time in competition on Sat. at MSA Racing's "Little Bristol"........set the track record in 4-cell Pro-Stock......it was on rails!!!

ECS38 02-04-2003, 01:29 PM What kind of track is "Little Bristol" and what set-up did you use?
JW Housley 02-05-2003, 03:07 AM Little Bristol is a 98 foot runline, tall loop carpet, 13 degree banking, low grip, SUPER tight turn (literally turning around a 2x10) track. If you want the setup, just drop me an email and I'll send you a sheet.

Hurricane Racer 02-05-2003, 05:07 PM Anyone have any tricks for building the KSG center shock?? This is my first time not using Delta shocks, but cant get the center shock to work "smoothly." Any help would be great!!
Thanks

BrentP 02-05-2003, 05:14 PM I don't have a KSG, but I have built a # of those shocks. They are alright but you can't get them as smooth as some of the others. My advise would be to get an HPI for the center shock. It is the easiest, smoothest shock that I have ever experienced. Just my $0.02.
Brent Pearcy
OVAL4EVER 02-05-2003, 05:19 PM I CAN'T HELP WITH THE DELTA SHOCK, BUT A COUPLE OF RACERS AT MY TRACK USE EITHER THE hpi CLICKERS, OR (LIKE MYSELF) USE SOME FORM OF THE A/E buggy/touring car size center shock. I prefer the blue threaded TC3 shock body, and modify the shock cap, buy cutting the mounting lug off, and drilling a 5/32" hole to allow useing a 4.40 button head to attacch an RPM rod end.
I then use GS seals and the shock cap "bladder" that comes with the O-rings to eliminate air and prevent a leak.
three differnt pistons and the larger volume ensure a very smooth shock. two bodies, (threaded) are under $20, anp is a buck seals are about $3, a ti-nitride shaft is about $6.00 about $30.00 give or take, and you have an extra shock body to sell, or go "halves" on.
I have an extra VCS shock I built to use as a center shock to save weight, but it only saves 1/4 oz...the TC3 springs go way stiffer when needed, than the tiny ones do, as well as plenty soft. for a 1/10 scale pan, car.

rather be racin 02-05-2003, 06:52 PM i agree with brent just get you an HPI shock and youll be good to go..
Chris Sweatt
waldo 02-05-2003, 07:19 PM The KSG car come with a threaded ae shock
Hurricane Racer 02-05-2003, 08:24 PM Yeah it comes with the blue threaded AE shock.. its a nice shock.. and Id like to get it to work instead of buying an HPI shock.
disruptor10 02-05-2003, 09:21 PM are u guys using the stock shaft that came in the kit(HPI) or is there a longer one to get ?
rather be racin 02-05-2003, 09:21 PM you asked us our opinion. if you want it couse its blue just have the HPI shock anodized blue. if you want another one of those AE shocks i have about 3 of them i wont ever use.. lol.. good luck with whichever you use..

pullman777 02-05-2003, 09:46 PM someone else's set-up might not work for you. put some laps on that baby and you'll get it!
OVAL4EVER 02-05-2003, 09:49 PM A/E shocks are soo simple to build smooth. I come from an off road and dirt oval background, so mayb I'm used to them,
the main thing you have to do is to ensure you leave NO FLASHING on th piston os plastic seal pac parts...if you do, even a tiny spur, will cause the shock to bind...if you hve too, inspect the parts under a magnifing glass.
one of the best shocks in the industry, just so simple people make boo boo's

rather be racin 02-05-2003, 10:03 PM i use the shaft that comes with the kit..if you need it longer dont put the spacers in the shock and/or unscrew the ballcup just a turn or something to get the right length you are looking for. or even if you have to use the long RPM ballcups..
Chris
jbm38 02-06-2003, 02:48 AM To get the AE shock smooth fill the shock body with the piston and rod in it. Then after getting the air out of the oil, move the shaft and piston to the top of the shock body. Put some oil in the shock cap and put it on the shaft should extend. If it does great!! Now check for your smoothness and NO air. Also I have 2 KSG kits you will need to get AE's .71 stroke shock shaft and long RPM rod ends. Car work great with this set-up.
disruptor10 02-06-2003, 11:20 AM thanks for all the helpful info !!
JBRACER2 02-06-2003, 08:00 PM Does some one have a base setup for 4cell stock? I run on flat carpet. The setup listed is killer for 19turn or mod. Just wanted some input on guys that have run stock. Thanks
JW Housley 02-07-2003, 01:30 AM I haven't ran the car on flat carpet yet.
I am hopefully going to next week.
I will post the results. I will probably start with Danny B's setup and go from there.

jbm38 02-07-2003, 02:33 AM I think starting with Dannys' set-up would be a good point. The things I changed for my flat track were: Center spring-AE buggy green/ #2 piston w/50wt. oil. Side shock springs: BOTH-GOLD, Upper A-arms between it and the steering block 1-Wolfe black spacer and 1-gold kingpin shim. LR hub against bearing NO shims And RR 4 .010 shims. Seemed to turn well in practice and plenty of forward bite. I'll let you know the final results after this SAT. night.
DROPKICK 78 02-07-2003, 03:24 PM what did you do with your adx? since you joined the (car of the week) program is it for sale?
jbm38 02-08-2003, 01:41 AM Dropkick, It's not about the car or the chassis of the week club. It's about seeing a very good product and purchasing it because it will work. And as soon as you get your a$$ to Thunder Road you'll see where my ADX is, in the A-main.
DROPKICK 78 02-08-2003, 11:08 AM i will be there:thumbsup:
ovalman21 02-09-2003, 03:26 PM Ksg was tq at the snowbirds in 19t, 4cell mod, and 6cell mod. I would say that is a pretty good showing wouldnt you.
Phil
JW Housley 02-09-2003, 04:35 PM You mean KSG?
ovalman21 02-09-2003, 04:57 PM OOPS what a dumb but
rather be racin 02-09-2003, 05:39 PM the KSG went 50 in 0 degree 19-t at sandhills raceway. the first to go 50 sice the class started with a KSG taking over the show with a 50 4.04.. could have been 51 but there wqas alot of traffic causing a few bad laps like a couple 5.4 laps 2 of those and his last lap was a 4.8.. had a few 5.1s laps due to traffic and all. so we know 51 is possible. congrats to Eric thomas for laying it down.
Chris Sweatt
jbm38 02-10-2003, 02:37 AM Qualified 6th in 19t, Chameleon2 mtrs' w/58-4:03. Finished 6th in A-main, wrong tire choice, goin' after it this week again.
VooDoo Man 02-10-2003, 09:53 AM Good job eric!! Chris, what happened to you? You guys are really gonna make me work for it, I just hope I wont screw up when we get there! Keep it up guys, lets see 51 happen. What's the record in 19 mod, some of us are going to run it. Later, LT
rather be racin 02-10-2003, 03:52 PM ive been wauding my mess up ill be back at it in a week or 2 i dont know if im gonna race next weekend or not but when im back ill have my stuff together. ill have 50 at least when im back. i think your ognna have to run 50 come april to make the A Main. well see yah later. 19-t mod is a 52 flat i think by G Honey.
Chris Sweatt
MikeM 02-11-2003, 05:42 PM Anyone care to share their setups from the Birds?
Carpet Assasin 02-11-2003, 05:44 PM Hey G Honey i had so much fun running mod with you guys im gonna give 19 turn mod a try also, Greg nice run at the birds see you in April.
Mario M. :dude:
rather be racin 02-11-2003, 06:05 PM so guys that went to the birds.. how did the KSG fair overall.. what was the dominant car? from what i har we did pretty good but i didnt go so is it true?.. see yah later..
Chris Sweatt
Pete_85 02-11-2003, 06:24 PM While not an "official" count, it looked to me like the KSG car was pretty dominant all week in 19T, 4-Cell Mod and 6-Cell mod with TQ runs or feature wins (Honeycutt, Andy Mac, Pemberton, Rufiange and others). Although I would say qualifying is a better indicator of true performance than one feature race where driving (aka rubbing) was really aggressive. Also in Stock Pete D. qualified 2nd with his KSG and two others at least were in the Stock A-Main. -Pete
T-TOWN 02-11-2003, 08:53 PM I would like to know what the car comes with as in shocks and goodies.
Some more pics also.
Thanks Tony:wave:
rather be racin 02-11-2003, 10:03 PM what doesnt this car some with?.. lol its much easier to answer. it comes with everything but the wheels and electronics.. all the aluminum is blue anodized the hubs are lightwieght but are the on center hubs.. i use the off set. so i had to get the off set hubs for the car you can get them seperate. it comes with the big front axles, and all AE shocks. hope this helps

Pete_85 02-11-2003, 11:35 PM This is the best information I've seen since I don't think they have a Web site. -Pete

BrentP 02-12-2003, 09:21 AM From what I've heard (I don't have one), all you need to buy are long kingpins. It comes with everything else.
Pete_85 02-12-2003, 11:15 AM Yes, if you want to run the Wolfe springs you need that. I did buy the optional hubs to run offset and I run different T-Plates at times. -Pete
T-TOWN 02-13-2003, 07:59 PM I would like to know a good starting place for this car(KSG). I run a 207 run line with 10 degree banking and 10 foot infield concrete oval. 4 cell stock is what I run. Please e-mail your setups.
Thanks Tony:cool:
rather be racin 02-13-2003, 08:12 PM T-town i would be more than happy to help you.. but i have yet to run the car on concrete or asphalt.. what type of car do/ did you run? i would try to take the setup off that car maybe stiffin up the left front a lil and go from there.. good luck and when you figure it out on the concrete.. let me know.. lol
Chris Sweatt
T-TOWN 02-14-2003, 12:26 AM I'm just kinda lost due to I run an adrenaline by hyperdrive and the rear is totally different. I was just wanting some help.
ECS38 02-14-2003, 03:51 AM I would think to start out with for asphalt:
LF- Wolfe green standard
RF- Wolfe red standard
Center spring/shock- Truck red cut down/ Trinity 50wt oil #2 piston
LR- Wolfe black 35wt oil
RR- Asc. red 35wt oil
T-plate- TRC6300 Dbl. slot spring steel or KSG .063 solid fiberglass
Tires- LF, RF, RR, LR- PURPLES
This should work well for 4cell stock.:dude:
jbm38 02-14-2003, 11:04 PM Race day is here again!!!!!!:dude:
jbm38 02-16-2003, 10:59 AM Thanks again to Danny B. and Andy for there set-up help! Awesome kit and set-up out of the box. 2nd week running 19t 2nd A-main. No wins yet but workin' it. Also thanks SURESHOT for the extra power that let me run up front until unfortunate things happened.:dude:
