I was looking at my car tonight and noticed that my caster blocks look like they are toed out and pulled toward the outside of the car. I measured with my calipers to make sure I wasn't seeing things but it should me the same thing. Is this right or is there something wrong?
I checked my caster and it was still on from the last time I checked it.
If anyone could give me an answer it would be great.
Thanks,
Fireball

That is one nice car.

I have figured out why my caster block looked bent. I had aluminum screws that held the castor blocks to the lower arm and when I pulled them out they were bent.

Where does everyone run there battery tray? What does moving it back do? Less or more steering?

Thanks,
Fireball

What length are the front/rear body posts on your car?
Im looking for the best setup for 19t, as im mounting a new body, and have an idea that my body may be too high/too far forward.

I have a KSG solid (obviously!) and a Proto Monte Carlo HD ('02). I have the front posts in the middle hole. Currently im running about 2.800" in the back and 1.760" at the top of the slope in the front.

Any help would be great.

Just mount the wheel openings even with the front wheels.Make the posts short enough so that the roof height is legal.I know my front ones are 44mm on the LF and 47mm on the RF.

Moving the baterry tray back or foward does what?

Some will tell you moving it back makes the car turn more, while others will say moving it forward makes it turn more.. Expirment with it and see what you think it does..

Moveing the battery forward will tighten the car up and back will free the car up!!!!! Try it both ways and look at the cross weight on the scales and you will see!!!!!!Hacksaw

thanks guys, I have been running it pretty far back and the car has been very loose. I am going to move it up so the 2nd battery slot is centered with the front t plate hole. I will let you know how it turns out.

i have a ksg slider, and i'm looking for a setup for a flat oval, 160 runline, ozite carpet
i raced the car today for the first time, turned 49 laps, track best is 53, car is fast and smooth but just need a little more speed

Hacksaw, well yeah it will change the cross weight but what if you move it and then set the cross weight back the same? I will have to try it out sometime. I know my car would get loose in and feel like it was getting up on the RF, this is in mod, and I moved the tray ahead one screw head width and it fixed it right up. But now I do have to run more cross also..so did that calm it down getting in but also make it steer more??? I am not sure, but I used to run my tray with the screw heads straight across from each other but now I have both car up a screw head.

Question, I see my car speeding up coming out of the corner so it's scrubbing speed. here is the track and set up. Track 200' 20 feet between straight aways. I have the slider all the way forward green springs on L and R front, silver on L-r gold on R-r, gold center spring all being wolf springs Gray Lf black Rf but did try a silver gray (with a slight change for the better) White Lr white rr I also have two .020 spacers to preload the Rf spring should I have went harder on the Rf tire the problem is you only have so much time to get the car set up there is three heats and the main which helps and I was trying gearing first. All suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

Pull the tray back, that should free the car up, then try red front springs and use lets steering input(daul rate)

Question? I am running a solid chassis, TRC tires Grn LF Blue RF White LR and a Gray RR. 1% rear steer, green front springs with no droop, Copper center with 50wt oil, rear springs are right copper and left black 30wt oil, shocks mounted one up from the bottom.
The track is small 70 drive line. I am happy with the car I am one lap off the record.

Here is the issue the Right side tires are burning off the car. I have to rotate right side tires every run to try to keep the wear even. I 've tried a black RR and the car just didn't pull out of the corner the same and was slower.

Any ides? One more thing what will sliding the left frount A arm assembly forward compared to the right do for the car?

Thanks

I recently ran at a track with a 100ft race line, very tight and alot of grip!
Red springs up front with light lube no preload
LF pink RF purple, and RR double pink LF pink...less wear then what your'e running now.
2 1/2 camber on right and 2 deg on left.
I also ran the right front a-arm pulled back 80 thou to help it turn middle out
Side shocks 30 wieght with gold springs mounted 3rd hole down and 1/2 deg rear steer
Center shock (HPI) with #2 piston and 70 wieght with a Silva black spring( 8# i think) and mounted 4th hole down with a .63 fiberglass t-plate
I ran very little dual rate 18% and had it trimmed to pull to the left to help it flow in the corner.
I ran 13.0 oz of left rear wieght.
I dont know how much help this is but it ran very well for me.
OK a-arm pos. if you pull the RF back should help you turn better midle out, LF pulled back compared to the right will help it turn in better, but be tighter middle out..My 2 cents worth

Is anyone else having problems with t-plates breaking? I have broken two t-plates in less than a week. They are breaking on the left rear at the 90 degree mark on the plate. Also i have not been involved in any wrecks to cause them to break. It just seems funny they keep breaking in the same spot.

Raptor_MS
01-28-2006, 02:29 PM
How do they break if your not involved in any type of wreck?

Are you popping the outer wall? I have noticed that if you don't run the shim in the center t-plate hole, you can easily break t-plates by slapping up against the outside wall..... This goes for all brands of fiberglass t-plates, not just KSG....

BMCALLISTER01

No im not shimming the center t-plate hole.

Danny B
01-29-2006, 03:51 AM
It's just not good to not run the middle screw in the t-plate. I've never seen anyone's set-up fall apart because of running that screw and it saves you the money and pain of replacing the t-plate.

Kenwood
01-29-2006, 11:58 AM
Danny, Is it bad just in the sense that it makes the t-plate more vulnerable?? I dont run the center screw...mainly to soften up the action in the t-plate..Versus buying say a slotted t-plate. Ive only broken 1 since Ive been doing this and that happened in a nasy accident where my car was on its roof and another came along and hit it full speed...LOL.. I dont think steel would have survived..

BMCALLISTER01
01-29-2006, 07:01 PM
Well guys broke another t-plATE last night. This makes 4 t-plates in a week. I am going to strip the car apart and see if i can find anything that might be bent. I have been having problems with the rear end chattering through the corner. Maybe something else is bent i dont know about.
