The Granger Staff will see you trackside soon :thumbsup:
r6vr6 01-18-2012, 01:51 PM Mike,
"easy on parts too"
Please don't get rid of all the huge jumps - that is what sets your track apart from most I've seen. Can't wait for April to roll around.
adamcornwell 01-18-2012, 02:35 PM Is it april 28th yet? Ya, don't get rid of the huge jumps!
DChupp1 01-19-2012, 09:57 AM Is it april 28th yet? Ya, don't get rid of the huge jumps!
IF u want to get more buggies on the track keep big jumps to a minimum. I like the idea of a smoother, flowing layout. Something that a guy can turn more than 10 or 11 laps on in a 6 min. race. I'd bet u might find less complaints about a fast, flowing track, than a slow track with huge un realistic "features". just my 2 cents worth.:dude: Sorry, by buggies I am referring to 10th scale.
Showtime Racing 01-20-2012, 10:42 AM April 28th is on the Calender.
I think as far as smooth/flowing vs bigger "features", there is a good medium, and it CAN be both. Instead of triples that may break a 1/10 scale B4 (22s don't break...), and be too easy for a Truggy... have a tabletop. Then you can land on the top for 1/10scale and hit the backside for Truggies. Or a double-table for 1/10 and clear it all with a Truggy... stuff like that. It can be done (I've done it!)... you just have to really think it out. I have faith!!!
Can't Wait for the 4/28.... did I mention it's on my calender!??!?!?
carplace 01-20-2012, 11:26 AM Showtime in the house  Woohoo
Maybe we can get Toddzilla set up with a mod buggy :o

Toddzilla HAS a mod buggy, he just has to man up and come pick it (and the whooping I'm going to lay on him when we race) up.:thumbsup:

I have one too but who's gonna keep score if we're all racing...

Well said Jim .I have nothing against jumps as long as they're not over done and allow u to keep going fast. there can be a happy medium for everyone.

Isn't that what the computer is for!?!!?

Oh yeah.....
I have a nice B4 but a new 4.1+8 just might be in order. I think maybe 17.5 blinky in the old one and a 6.5 or maybe the tame 8.5 in the worlds...
This year is going to be a blast, as usual

Well if you are running a slowociated, then it's easy to have someone else run the race, since us 22s will be in the A, and all those Tyco-type cars will be in the B!:tongue:
No Blinky!!! Your track might be one of the few where I could actually put down a 7.5 or 8.5! Most places a 10.5 or so is more than enough power!
carplace 01-23-2012, 02:23 PM If it's in the "b" then it will be pilot error, not an AE problem ;)
That's my story and I'm stickin to it...
airconde 01-23-2012, 05:32 PM I Think you guys forgot about KYOSHO .I guess we godda show up first .Hopefully this will be abetter summer for me. Race on Freinds

It's not just us, most everyone has forgotten Kyosho made competitive RC cars.
Yet I'd still take one over an AE!
Say hello, to my dust!
bossfunk 01-23-2012, 09:06 PM Getting into racing this season with granger. It's been a LONG time since i've raced anything and I'm very excited. Anyway, I recently came across an offer I couldn't refuse (or so I think) I got a b44 with a mamba max 5700kv setup. Can anyone tell me if I can race this thing at granger? Hows the esc, motor combo? Would this be considered a modified? PLEASE HELP!! And another thing, if this is not an ideal car to race then I would trade it for a SC10 if there is anyone interested!

It will be great to have you come out and race with us. We will run any class that has at least 5 entries for the day. I think pretty much anyone running 4wd buggies make them a mod class. With that said, I doubt that we will see any/enough 4wd's show up to run a class of them. My guess is that we will have Stock SC, 4x4 SC and mod buggy (2wd) every weekend. There will be more classes but if you want to make sure you fit in a class I'd start there.
carplace 02-07-2012, 07:56 AM Here's a new for sale thread. Time to re-fresh the fleet for summer!

Any chance anyone out there would be interested in running a vintage buggy class? It seems to be a class that's may be picking up steam. Maybe it's already been suggested.
Any feed back is welcome.

Like a gold pan rc10? Buggy in general is getting hot again, not sure if there are enough vintage rides out there to race but 5 or more and we'll welcome them
hunternaf 02-09-2012, 10:42 PM All I know is I keep hearing about all the monster truck and revos planning on showing up. When is the first practice, I need to get the warhead tuned up again so I can give them some competition
bjr48 02-10-2012, 07:22 PM When is practice?
hunternaf 02-10-2012, 08:03 PM My best guess would be on wednesdays like the last 2 years, starting a week before the opening race, unless you can come out to give a hand on track prep and redesign, often they have the local racers helping with maintainence and "testing" the new features and designs to make sure the track works for all classes

That would be a good guess. We'll keep everyone posted as to the schedule when the weather allows us to get busy. Stay tuned, it's going to be a great year
XXX-Fan 02-13-2012, 10:11 AM Come on spring already!!! It would be nice to do some testing with Tyler's new ride for this year before we hit the bigger outdoor races. We have alot of learning to do with the new car for outdoors.
See ya soon!!

What kind of traction could we get on frozen clay? The surface is a bit weather-beaten with lots of deer and turkey tracks on it but the 8th scalers and monster trucks would probably love it...
It's on the way (spring I mean)
I have some track revisions in mind that I think pretty much everyone will love. Granger Raceway will be THE place to race your 10th scales on an outdoor track. Don't worry, there will still be some great 8th scale stuff too!
See you guys trackside real soon

I can't easily make it out during the week. Weekends are the only free time and the last two years weekends were all racing all the time. I just noticed that you are not racing every Saturday this year so I was hoping that there might be a possibility of weekend practice time. If there is any other interest I would hope that you would consider it for 2 seconds at least :) I understand as someone who already devotes a lot of time to the track the last thing you are looking for is to tie up more of your own personal time but maybe there are other options that work for more than one person or move some days around to make up for it to have more options for people. Thanks!

Hey, I'll take anything under consideration! While we are only "club" racing every other weekend many of our "off" weekends will be filled with our NIRCSS series races plus a couple of trophy races too. You hit the nail on the head when you said personal (read "family") time. I do need a break now and then plus we will be using several of the off weekends for track rebuilds to keep the layout fresh. While I always encourage racers practice and think we need some open track time for new racers to get their feet wet, quite honestly we usually only get a few people out for a practice session (play time) and those folks are the ones that don't come back to race.
My insurance is such that I can't allow a free-for-all anytime practice, nor do I want to spend all week repairing our track to make the best surface available for racing by Saturday.
The flip side of the coin is that we open the track early on race days for practice and then run three qualifiers and the mains. I would say just jump in and race :) you'll get lots of practice quickly and will have fun in the process
hunternaf 02-13-2012, 10:38 PM Man I glued the tires on and ran a couple of practice laps sunday and all I have to say WOW even with the castle MMP and 1410 on a 2 cell bat that thing is scarry fast, now to get some wheel time and this thing setup right
Showtime Racing 02-19-2012, 12:22 AM Is it April yet! I wanna run outside!
carplace 02-19-2012, 08:24 AM Is it April yet! I wanna run outside!
I was just thinking this morning that if the weather trend keeps up we should pull up tubes and get to moving dirt!
On another note, BIG thanks out to our first 2012 track sponsor - Bill from The Pitt Stop has graciously again paid for banner advertising. If you are in Granger stop by for a sandwich and remember to tell them thanks for their support
Spring is coming very soon and we are looking forward to getting back outside!
See you trackside
bossfunk 02-20-2012, 05:23 PM hey all. I'm gathering supplies for my first season of racing. my next purchase is a stock motor, esc, and battery and charger. Any suggestions on these? I'm racing sc stock by the way

Hey Ross,
I like the Fantom Ion or Apex for 17.5 motors. I'm using the Tekin RS speedos' and like the performance but I have had some durability issues. If you are going to race stock make sure that you buy a speedo that has a blinky mode (which means no timing or boost built in to the speedo). Fantom also has batteries and I have had good luck with mine. I've also heard guys having good luck with Gens Ace batteries - especially for the price. I am currently using a cellpro 10s charger and like it very well.
What truck did you get?
bossfunk 02-20-2012, 07:00 PM I went with a factory team sc10. I just couldn't buy anything but associated! I'm down on the island so i won't get to play till i come home!
As far as batteries. What does the "s" stand for? it used to be 6 cell nicad for stock. What are the limitations for batteries when it comes to stock class?

I am actually not sure about the "s". My understanding of the lipo's is a bit limited from an engineering standpoint. The uneducated guess is that the "s" denotes amount of cells (ie 2s - 3s etc). Not to be confused with the "c" rating of the battery which I understand to be the maximum discharge rate (ie 25c vs 65c - the 65 should have more punch). The problem seems to be a lack of standardized testing to accurately rate a given manufacturers' battery. At Granger Raceway all of our 10th scale classes run 2s (cell) batteries and they must be hard-cased for safety. I'd stick with a battery rated between about 40-65c and 4000 to 6500 MAH. That seems to be what most guys are running lately.
r6vr6 02-21-2012, 09:06 AM I believe the "s" is for series. 2 cells in series. 3.7v*2 = 7.4v

That makes perfect sense, Thanks!
carplace 02-21-2012, 04:13 PM Just in! Granger Raceway to host The Series round 4 August 11th
We are glad to be included and will have a great facility ready to host the race.
I would like to encourage all of our regulars to support The Series and it would be great to see some Granger Raceway shirts out doing the tour at the other facilities.
Spring is coming soon, see ya trackside :thumbsup:
hunternaf 02-21-2012, 07:48 PM What is The Series????
carplace 02-21-2012, 08:39 PM What is The Series????
Basically the MORL group re-organized. The guys seem to be working hard to improve the program and they have some great tracks on the schedule. They made a good decision to include Granger Raceway this year

Oh Yeah, and better than ever
hunternaf 02-21-2012, 09:30 PM oh thats just great, so many series events I may never have a home track. probably not with my work schedual and trying to explain to my wife where I am off to to play with my rc friends
carplace 02-21-2012, 09:35 PM oh thats just great, so many series events I may never have a home track. probably not with my work schedual and trying to explain to my wife where I am off to to play with my rc friends
HUH?!, I thought you had a home track? Remember, we are taking some Saturdays off altogether this year...
Just make your weekends off on the big race dates and club race in between
hunternaf 02-21-2012, 10:50 PM sure wish I had the power to write my own schedual, but even if I did I still have my sponsor/better half to get travel approval from. The backyard track has been a bit neglected since Granger opened, still there and gets fixed up for family and friend get togethers but never really had any big crowd of friends show up like at your place (at least with there own rc stuff), maybe I need to move the fish fry over your way
