Partly out of boredom and ALOT of spare time at work, i decided to go through the online records posted by Walt's for the Legends class. The records start at 09', so before that i have no idea.

I was curious as to who the hot shoes were that give er' the beans. Over the last 2 years clearly Paul is the dominator. I've had a chance to race him a hand full of times and no doubt he's the best i've raced. There are some on the list i haven't had the pleasure to loss to yet, but i'm hoping.

Head to head with the top 3 winners I am 4 and 10. I guess that's not too shabby considering the top 3 have won 60% of the races over the last 2 1/2 years

Legends demands good driving and the ability to look ahead...avoiding crashes and there are mostly crashes in the Legends class!!! Paul is one of the best! Congrats Paul!:thumbsup:

Let me pose a question, actually a statement, then a question....

One of the above times was recored when racing against only 2 other cars. Plus, the recorder of the TQ was actually beat when he recorded the TQ, but the person that beat him "broke out" on 3 laps thus losing the TQ.

So the question....should there be an *asterisk* to make note of the circumstances of the exceptional time.....or.......should the time stand alone regardless of mitigating facts????

I'm confused? How could someone win TQ then lose it to another car that broke out 3 times? And an asterisk by those records? Are you planning on betting on next seasons racing or opening the International Museam of Legends Racing?.......Come on were racing toy cars for bowling trophys......:cool:

Ok, let's say there is car A, B and C in a heat race. Car A gets 60 laps but broke the 4 second barrier 3 times (broke out) he loses 3 laps. Car B got 58 laps, thus losing the race, but the fact that car A was docked 3 laps, car B wins.

So, should it be know that this wase the circumstances of an exceptional TQ time? Though, i don't know the circumstances of the other 9 fastest TQ times so i guess it really shouldn't matter.

I only got a store gift certificate. I want a trophy.

Actually, i still have a trophy from RC Competition Corner. So i still have it on the dresser to greet me in the morning and remind me of youthful glories. Ahh, those were the days

where do you get that information from? if you were bracket racing and you broke out you would be the loser even if you broke out by a tenth of a second!!! you don't win ! you don't get an asterik! quit trying to rewrite history! when somebody goes more than 58 laps legally then they are the new tq...until then, leave it alone. and i agree with Rich you have too much time on your hands!

No re-writing, just posing a question supported by the facts for the purpose of having a debate amongst adults.

Sometimes there are stories behind the #'s, i'm just trying to tell em. I'm not trying to deminish anyones accomplishments, BUT should be noted whether a remarkable TQ time was made with 6 or 2 other cars on the track? That is a HUGE difference. And one of the times was made with only 2 other cars on the track.

The legends class is very popular so i figured others would be interested in the numbers and the stories behind them. I value all constructive critisms that will move the conversation forward.

Yip with a breakout time of 4 sec, anything less don't count. It's a great entry class with a great turnout, some great solid racing. Also I hope nothing I've said so far will be construed as demeaning to those racers as this racing is close........Rich Hammond aka the :dude:

I've been know to "Give em the beans". Actually, the June 13 evening was one of the cleanest and funnest Legends race i've been in. It doesn't hurt also that i won it. ;)

Are you the same Dan as #4 on main wins and TQ and holds the fastest TQ?


802YoungRc...Legends were originally made by Bolink. Bolink went out of business, but i believe on of their designers started RJ Speed and they now are continuing the Legends product.

wasnt sure what u guys were talking about haha what do they normaly run in them for like motors etc.. when iwas younger our local track had them for rentals for ppl to try them out now they have died out.. i would like to start them up again but who knows,..

Used to be they ran them with 4 cell spec packs and closed endbell mtrs like the photon speed mtr/any esc, I don't know if thats changed or not. The breakout rule went into place after some complained that worn out tires were at a disadvantage as there was a gear rule, so the race director said run any size tires/any gear but anything below 4 sec don't count. Actually a great equalizer imo.......:dude:

i got a sk modfied if thats a real car hahah and a pan car.. lol i was jw what they ran so if we we got enoug of them at the track we could rent them out or something... trying to get new ppl into it uk?

I absolutely love racing the legends class. I have plenty of questions/comments/complaints, but won't let those get me banned. I suspect the presentation of your ?????? "Q's" ??????? may have led to the said banning ????????

$15 gift card. What place did you come in and how many others raced during the season? Back in the day Coz and Lauri gave out ribbons for weekly races then a small trophy at the end of the season. i got a trophy and my day has a bunch of ribbons. i'll have to post em' soon.

Well rc race fans the end is near. The 2011 Summer racing season at Walt's draws to a close. Atop the Legends class an epic battle is being waged between Ken "I'm too cool to worry about points" and Chris "I need a bigger zip tie". With only 16 point seperating the 2 competetors an exciting day of racing is sure to follow.

Despite missing one week of racing Jeff has also been a stout driver with top finishes (4th, 2nd, 3rd, 1st, 2nd).

Several scenarios exist for an overal points win for Ken or Chris. There even exists a possiblity for a tie in points. So, with one race to go Ken has an edge in points and past consistant performances (1st, 1st, 4th, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd) but Chris has been stong winning the last 3 out of 4 races and TQ 4 out of 6 races.

It's true, sad to say.....................It was a valiant fight. The odds were calculated, the competition was weighed and measured..................except for an unfactored equation.........Doug , and Chris was found wanting.


Going into the final race Chris was 16 point back and ready for the title. He had momentum and was rollin'. The first heat was off to a fast and furious start. Jeff, doug and chris raced away. In the end Chris came out with TQ, part one of the master plan accomplished. But, it all came undone by a mere 3 seconds in the A main. Doug won the main by 3 seconds. The A main finishing order: Doug, Chris, Ken. Ken won the Summer series by 5 points!

Congrats Ken, consistancy won out. Great racing everyone. Doug, this will not be easily forgotten!

Hey ,Chris are ya coming back on tuesday nights? I hope so.

No more week day racing. i'm not gonna take any more vaca days. I'm still debating on weather i'm gonna race the saturday season or not. it's to the point that i was not enjoying the racing. i think a short break may do me good. Also, i'm strongly considering getting a Pemberton and running an EDM at High Octane, if/when, they build thier oval.


Though, the racing was getting good. I may need to show up just to make sure Jeff doesn't win every race. Some poeple just need to move up and stop playing with the kids. lol

Believe me, i'm really not looking to be another demo derby throttle monkey. There's alot of money on that track and when one of your trucks smack the wall i feel your pain. There's talking trash and then there's reality. i fully believe i can legitimately race with you guys and not skink up the place. i just need to do my homework as to what equipment to get and i'm there.
