Tranny Car Man. 03-17-2011, 03:18 PM John ,we had a lot of good times there thru the years ,Id like to see it continue!!!!!!!!! Sandy Holehouse ovalrc 03-17-2011, 05:44 PM Just tell me when, and I'm there. Can't wait to get to some real racing. Tranny Car Man. 03-17-2011, 06:43 PM Bill ,by gosh you got that right !!!!. jmracing 03-21-2011, 08:24 AM was there any water damage when you looked around.it was a bad winter Tranny Car Man. 03-21-2011, 09:14 AM Good point there John,Thats a big and old roof!!!!!!!!!. Sandy Holehouse. jmracing 03-22-2011, 02:27 PM whats the latest? ctkevin 03-23-2011, 02:51 PM I wanted to update everyone on where it's at. Right now I am not sure where we are going with it to be honest. To be completely honest 5-10 racers a week @20 a person (just using $20 as an example here) figure the average is 7 that's only 140 a week. 560 a month that WONT even cover the rent never mind lights and heat in the winter. I am going to need at least 13 racers a week just to pay the bills in the summer and 28-35 a week in the winter to cover the bills including the heat!! Now maybe when rc racing was big that wouldn't have been a problem, keeping the track dedicated to the oval guys, but in the economy we are in today and rc not being as popular as it once was I do not see it possible to keep it financially stable with just oval racing. What I have been going over is the idea of running touring cars and trucks. Now I know this isn't going to be popular with the dedicated group that has been going there for years, and yes I do remember the comments everyone made when Jimmy tried it about "screwing up the grove" But no matter how I work the numbers they are what they are! Now let me PERFECTLY clear THE BANKED OVAL WILL REMAIN THERE!!!!! I have no intention of tearing it down as some have pmmed me suggesting it would be better as a flat track. When I raced with Jim in his Manchester store we had no problem running the day after touring cars. As far as the trucks, I was gong to buy a roll of commercial carpet and run them on the 2 straightaways and just cover the track with plastic and other carpet so they don't damage the racing carpet. I know this isn't goign to be easy for some people but it is the only way to keep the track stable and the doors open. I have not yet investigated the interest of the truck or touring guys ( there may not even be any for all I know) I wanted to post here first out of respect for the racers that raced K&N for so many years, as I know most of you Please understand I have raced K&N for many years myself and this was not an easy decision to come to but it is the only one that I see to keep the doors open Moving forward lets keep this thread going here with input on how you guys feel about these changes that are going to have to happen thanks guys Kevin ovalrc 03-23-2011, 06:38 PM I applaud your efforts, whatever you need to do I'll support. I have my fingers and toes crossed hoping things come together and your able make this work. Bill B Tranny Car Man. 03-23-2011, 06:51 PM Bill, your right, theres a lot of us that would like to see the BANKS back in operation!!!!.Kevin needs our support. Sandy Holehouse. Racin'Jason 8 03-23-2011, 07:41 PM It would be really cool to chase Mark, Bill, and Charlie on the banks again...maybe then they would run 10.5  Casperbase 03-23-2011, 08:42 PM Don't let it be over looked that a track needs to be supported by the hobby shop sales to stay open. You will need invintory of what you are racing and the track needs to be advertised on a regular basis to create the draw the public to the track. ovalrc 03-24-2011, 07:03 PM It would be really cool to chase Mark, Bill, and Charlie on the banks again...maybe then they would run 10.5  The only class to run on the banks. Racer 06082 03-24-2011, 10:08 PM trucks belong outside jmracing 03-29-2011, 01:10 PM Boost The Banks Up!! Ted C 04-12-2011, 01:45 PM Any word yet??? Is it going to be a go or is it not going to work out? Would like to here an update of plans. Ted C. jmracing 04-25-2011, 12:07 PM 3 pages back and 1 month since kevins posted on this. ctkevin 04-25-2011, 06:46 PM First off sorry it took so long for me to get back to you all. After talking to a few people and looking over the numbers it doesn't look like opening K & N back up is gonna turn a decent number. I had high hopes that we would have been able to make enough for the cost of keeping the track on it's own. That doesn't look like it will be possible. So I am sorry to say that the Banks will remain closed unless someone else with deeper pockets will choose to open it. rickster58 07-18-2011, 02:18 PM Bummer, I would have loved to return there too. rdub355 07-18-2011, 02:58 PM i heard the track is gone... Maddog23x 07-18-2011, 04:30 PM it was great in its hey day when nick an karen were the owners they had the time to invest there an make it what it was, then they sold it to a racer and from there it never came back to its popularity no matter who owned it. thats were i started my rc racing in the transmision trucks on the banks i will always have a place for the origanal k/n speedway but its a track of the past now. its to bad that it had to be but it is what it is, i remember when the sk div was out numbering the pan cars there then jims partner stev got a hair across his ass an threw us sk,ers out luckly chris marcy gave us a new home to race at so im pretty much dedicated to rc madness now for if chris had said no i wouldnt be racing r/c,s anymore an having fun like i do. hope i didnt get to many loyal r/cers mad with my two cents. thanks mike23x oldtimer 07-18-2011, 06:45 PM Good post Mike Racer 06082 07-18-2011, 06:49 PM track remains.. its still closed. madness is for offroad trucks. Fast n fun pan cars on Sundays. Racer 06082 07-18-2011, 06:50 PM oldtimer I see you down there! what up! Black ops upon YA! Maddog23x 07-19-2011, 05:39 PM Thahks ken i hope i didnt get anyone to mad at what i said lol was just my opion an mine only im hope with in the next cpl weeks to make my debut at bethel racarama finaly got a 2cell bat an just needing cpl more items an i can come-on down an have some fun with all you guys till carpet oval starts again at madness all you guys take care an i,l see ya,s all soon mike23x. dan g 07-19-2011, 06:54 PM Would enjoy racing there agian. Count me in SPHOBBS 07-25-2011, 09:48 AM Well here is wishing you a great new start for your track and that you have lots of racers every race day. BSRBOY 08-24-2011, 12:58 PM It seems all the tracks in this area that survive feature the pan cars as part (not all) of their racing regiment. Since oval's popularity has decreased, a track like K&N can't just exist as an oval track. Between the parking lot and rear lot behind the race track you've got to wonder what would prevent someone from doing something outside at Stafford. There's a huge crowd of race fans all summer that are just the kind of customers Traxxas loves. They even had the Monster Jam Stampedes at the monster truck show this year. Maybe someday. I guess my advice would be "diversify and advertise" to any potential owner. Get them in the door with a Slash or a basic oval platform. Tranny Car Man. 08-24-2011, 11:41 PM Karen and Nick --K&N had a dirt track and an asphault drag strip out back at one time and it never really took off .The banked oval was more popular.??????.
