rcovalracer 04-30-2004, 10:25 PM When will the next points series begin? Maybe throw a day race or 2 in there also.. DEEPBLUE 04-30-2004, 10:28 PM When will the next points series begin? Two weeks after this points series is over. I like to give you guys some time off to take A friday off if you like. Some guys spend A friday with there family or take out the wife or A girlfrind. Also it will give guys a time to test and tune on there cars befor the new series. davepull 04-30-2004, 10:31 PM I just got back from the track me Dan Chris and Jerry all ran some oval. with very little effort on our part the track was dry by 8:00 pm with some help I think we could have got it dry real quick. In my opinion the races were called way to early. talking with Jerry who drove done from valdosta he said he leaves @ like 3:00 pm and would rather drive down and have the races get cancelled then then not drive and have us race. I think that we need to wait it out alittle longer. and no it wasn't to muddy back there I drove all the way around to turn 3 with out a problem. DEEPBLUE 04-30-2004, 10:38 PM Maybe throw a day race or 2 in there also.. I cant get enough pople to show up on sunday to run points also it gets hot in the summertime so that runs alot of guys off. If you want to run on sunday you can e-mail me or put it on this thread. I am trying to get HW to make a sign-in sheet and a flyer with the sunday dates. The next sunday is next sunday the 05/09/04 please let me know if you are insted in running. I dont mind going if pople are going to show up but I am tired of going and not enough to race. We need at lest 20 to 25 racers to make for good racing. davepull 04-30-2004, 10:45 PM you mean this sunday coming? I thought that you guys tried it last sunday meaning that the next race on a sunday would be on the 9th. right?? I think that what kevin is saying is make a sunday race a points race so you would run like 3 friday in a row then skip a friday and run sunday then run 3 more fridays . DEEPBLUE 04-30-2004, 10:52 PM Dave you are right I changed it, it will be the 9th. I was looking at the wrong cal. Most guys want to run on friday and be done racing for the weekend and some guys have other things to do like chirch, yard work, boating, etc. etc.. Hank80 04-30-2004, 10:56 PM OK So there will be racing on Mother's day, May 9th, right? rcovalracer 04-30-2004, 10:57 PM you mean this sunday coming? I thought that you guys tried it last sunday meaning that the next race on a sunday would be on the 9th. right?? I think that what kevin is saying is make a sunday race a points race so you would run like 3 friday in a row then skip a friday and run sunday then run 3 more fridays . Yes that is want I was talking about.. JMO.. I called the track(HS) and they told me it was cancelled because there was a swamp in the back.. DEEPBLUE 04-30-2004, 11:01 PM  I am trying to run the sundays that branford is not runing but it does not seem to be working to well! Hank80 04-30-2004, 11:04 PM I know your are, John are your doing a great job of it, keep up the good work! It's just that the 9th is Mothers day and the turn out might not be what is expected, thats all. The again is might be more the you could of hoped for to! DEEPBLUE 04-30-2004, 11:12 PM :freak: Well I just guess I will have to see if I get anybody to sign up. davepull 04-30-2004, 11:20 PM Yes that is want I was talking about.. JMO.. I called the track(HS) and they told me it was cancelled because there was a swamp in the back.. I was there @4:45 pm with Jerry and there was no swamp or rain. but you got to know the crowd that races at Hw if there is rain at there house they won't drive over, so the store knows that if it is raining at 3 pm and a chance of more then they call it. because most of the people won't come anyways. John I think that if you put out a schedule saying we will run 3 races on friday then 1 race on sunday afternoon then 3 more on friday then you are telling the guys these are the points races and that is all there is to it. I would race the sunday race then because I would want the points. I know first hand the position you are in and I also know you can't please everybody. bigdon18 05-01-2004, 12:26 AM  I am trying to run the sundays that branford is not runing but it does not seem to be working to well! hey john, why dont you start a track in ga, and race on sundays one or two sundays out of the month up here if people dont want to race at hw on sundays? and make the entry fee ten dollars like everyother track in the southeast . plus do your hw gig on fridaynights. BIGDON Donnie_99 05-01-2004, 09:10 AM i would luv to race at hw atleast once a month but i cant get off of work on fridays to make it. Donnie wade 05-01-2004, 09:39 AM My thoughts exactly............ rcgen 05-01-2004, 10:37 AM John, Here's an idea why don't HW have Sunday races once a month (ie first sunday) and post it in the store and stick with it. We do that it won't matter what the other tracks race schedule is. The racers will have to decide where to go. Most J'ville racer don't don't go out of the area anyway. Yeah I said it (a hit on my fellow racers) it's all good. I for one like going to other tracks to watch and race. It makes me a better driver. Bigdon's idea is great too. I would love to go back to GA and race. Haven't raced in GA since the dirt days in Savannah. Plus it will give J'ville racers an opportunity to race outside the state of FL My .2 and more GeorgiaFordFan 05-01-2004, 11:29 AM John, Welcome to Hobby Talk! I believe there would be a better turn out for Sunday racing if the entry fee was reduced. I don't think $15 is outragous for points racing on Fridays, we are paying for plaques and some lighting. However on Sundays (just a fun/tunning day) there are no plaques or lignting. I don't know if you have control over the price for entry but, why not $5 for the racers that paid $15 on friday and have us pay for Sunday at the Friday race. Then you would know how many are planning on showing up for Sunday. Just a thought with no disrespect meant toward any one. I would like to race every other Sunday, maybe a nastruck class but, don't feel it is worth another $15. DEEPBLUE 05-01-2004, 01:10 PM I dont have control of race fees but I think if enough people call and in a nice way tell Greg that if it was cheeper on sundays it wonld be nice. That would help the guys that race on friday nights but thats not up to me. I would like to see it be 5 or 10 on sundays. I asked when we started the sunday racing but you know what they told me $15 bucks. Maybe if we got enough racers to say they would race on sundays if it was cheeper. I dont know I just try to keep the racing going. U thing the once A month thing would be nice. I alos think that if We try to run points on sunday once or twice that alot of people would use those sundays as throw-outs. DEEPBLUE 05-01-2004, 01:19 PM hey john, why dont you start a track in ga, and race on sundays one or two sundays out of the month up here if people dont want to race at hw on sundays? and make the entry fee ten dollars like everyother track in the southeast . plus do your hw gig on fridaynights. BIGDON That would be nice but if I start one more project I think the boss might not like that to much. I already have two LLC and two Inc. to run I think thats enough right now. Dont you???? bigdon18 05-01-2004, 01:49 PM no man ,, you can handle it ,,,,lol. BIGDON bigdon18 05-01-2004, 02:05 PM georgiafordfan, does kingsland having any tracks , i heard they had a offroad track there one time is it still there? if it is can you email me any info on it. BIGDON GeorgiaFordFan 05-01-2004, 03:00 PM bigdon, If there is a track here, I have never seen it. There was talk of a track being built on the base prior to 9-11. Now no one would be able to use it any way do to the security. Sorry. rcgen 05-01-2004, 03:11 PM The lower race fee on Sundays would be nice. I am sure it would bring out more people. Plus it may be bring the kids and newbies out too. I would run a nastruck class and nitro touring on Sundays. Where can I find an updated rules for the legends class. I was able to pick up two new still sealed up boxes of the Bolink legends kit. I am warning all legends racers you will have two new drivers with zero experience in racing (my sons). hehehe Can you say kids races coming up soon....I'll be pushing for one...if not on Sundays...it'll have to be Fridays.... rcovalracer 05-01-2004, 04:09 PM I alos think that if We try to run points on sunday once or twice that alot of people would use those sundays as throw-outs. Make it 4 night races and 3 day races, hey they will have to attend one Sunday race.It was just a thought, maybe to have something a little diff. for the next series..Just giving a suggestion that's all.. It is a little costly to me to run Fri. night and come back from Lake City(not as far as some of you)on Sunday to dish out another $15,and if the kids racing would start up,I will be paying for another ROAR membership plus extra entry...Oh yea and gas right now geeze  Nothing against ROAR ;) RCGen I will run Nastruck 4 sure if it starts up,when do I need to bring my truck (The Monster) as some call it, LOL ? Kevin Kevin's RC Oval Site/Branford RC Speedway (http://www.kevinsrc.tk) davepull 05-01-2004, 05:07 PM why not run a special trophie race on a Sunday run 4 cell stock, spec, 19t and touring stock and 19t. buy trophies for the top 3 in the A's and the tq's. Have it in june or july or once a month. the idea behind it is to get people out to the track and help the racing grow. BryanW92 05-01-2004, 06:31 PM Instead of trophies for the top 3 in the A Main, let's get a bunch of ribbons printed and award them to the top 3 finishers in EVERY main (top 2 if there's less than 6 cars starting a race). I'm not advocating the soccer league "everyone gets a trophy" BS, but lets give the new drivers that we want to encourage a goal that's achievable in their first year. The top 3 in every A Main is usually the same people, but the B Main is always up for grabs. We should do that on Friday night too. Hey...I might even get a ribbon that way! Maybe....someday..... ;) rcovalracer 05-01-2004, 06:34 PM why not run a special trophie race on a Sunday run 4 cell stock, spec, 19t and touring stock and 19t. buy trophies for the top 3 in the A's and the tq's. Have it in june or july or once a month. the idea behind it is to get people out to the track and help the racing grow. Sounds like a good idea to me.. http://thercedge.com/forums/images/smiles/radio-thumbs.gif bigdon18 05-01-2004, 06:53 PM bigdon, If there is a track here, I have never seen it. There was talk of a track being built on the base prior to 9-11. Now no one would be able to use it any way do to the security. Sorry. that must have been the one i heard about, it was a guy on the net that was doing it, i found out when i was biuld clod tube chassis trucks back then and the guy that i heard that from was a clod duded also. thanks for the info. rcgen 05-01-2004, 07:01 PM Hey Kevin I'll start practicing w/my nastruck on our Thursday night test and tune sessions and the Sundays we don't race. Hopefully, some will see it as an interesting class and advertise for 4cell Nastruck racing. Nastruck Racing = 4c stock w/a better body  bigdon18 05-01-2004, 07:14 PM Dave, that is a start in the right direction,, they is got to be something to draw people out. i would like to see one,, july would be good, june i might need a releaf driver. rcovalracer, kevin, that is what is really hurting ,,, good god the gas prices,,,,,,wow. time us out of towners (state) pay 30+ bucks in gas to come down and 15 to enter , maybe 5 on something to eat somewhere,, man you have already spent 50+ bucks to race your car for twelve minutes.... then if your not there running for points there every week,,, you just down all that just to be there which is fun and dont get me wrong i love racing there. friday night i was ready to do it because i want to see alot of yall guys down there.. but that is something that people like me and a few other have to consider if your not load with extra cash to just blow out the window on this hobby. but even for a hard core racer like me it also making it hard for me and a i know another racer to spend all that just to come down run and get nothing out of it but running your car and then risk tearing it up and wearing out tires and motors to race for nothing but bragging rights for that week. BIGDON bigdon18 05-01-2004, 07:19 PM the guys that are trying to get a truck class goin i think is great,, just make it a 4cell class and make it stock or 19t ,, and i promise you when i get out of the hospital and can make it down there i will run in the class if you get it goin strong. i got a clear truck body in my trailor saying paint me on it.....lol. BIGDON rcgen 05-01-2004, 07:40 PM I haven't seen a truck class at HW, but I heard there was one. I ran truck at the Bradford track and it was fun. I know there are more truck drivers out there. It would be a great class to run on Sundays that way it don't interfere w/Friday night's racing program Shumacher 99 05-01-2004, 07:57 PM I really would like to have a truck class on fri. rcovalracer 05-01-2004, 09:15 PM I say the Nastruck class should be on Sundays, just as RCGen mentioned,so it don't interfere with the long Friday nights/Saturday mornings. RCGen I hope you get some guys over there interested in 4cell 27T or 4 cell 19T,I definitly will show up on Sundays as long as there is no points race for me on Friday night. JMO,run what we run in Branford,4 cell,27T,any chassis... Don't forget we will be running Nastruck tomorrow in Branford, racing starts @ 12:30 P.M. If anyone there wants to run Nastruck. BryanW92 05-01-2004, 09:28 PM Who makes the Nastruck body? I can't find one on the net. rcovalracer 05-01-2004, 09:35 PM You can find some @ Scott's Hobbies(Branford) or here.. (http://www.mcallisterracing.com/racing/) New92 05-02-2004, 12:36 AM So what is needed for a truck class? Just a truck body? Oh yeah, there is going to be someone new running oval soon..... ;) -the other Eugene  rcgen 05-02-2004, 01:03 AM any oval pan chassis, Nastruck Body usually a 4cell stock rcovalracer 05-02-2004, 06:14 AM any oval pan chassis, Nastruck Body usually a 4cell stock That is it... bigdon18 05-02-2004, 08:40 AM Who makes the Nastruck body? I can't find one on the net. http://www.mcallisterracing.com/racing/ Dan at BIGDOG RC should be able to get some in since he has mcallister bodies listed for sale. David Butts 05-02-2004, 10:08 AM Howdy everyone. My dsl modem got hit by lightning friday afternoon so I wasnt able to read or post anything. Luckilly the computer wasnt hit and once I figured out how to bypass the dsl software and reinstall the dial up modem this morning I'm back in business. Slow but working is better than not working at all. I was jonesing for some hooby talk action bad. Hmm a week off from points and no where to race? I almost took off for Branford this am but I wasnt able to get onto aol for a quick weather report so here I sit. The wifey's ready for me to go somewhere and it's beautiful outside. David Butts 05-02-2004, 01:10 PM I'd like to add to fridays rain out a little. There were four guys(hardcore racers for sure)who showed up and ran on the track till after I left a little after 8:00 but the track and the surrounding grounds were not right for racing. Allthough they were able to get their cars around the track after a while I think all of them will admit the track just wasnt in good shape. The main problem was keeping the dirt/mud off of the track completely. Since turn marshalls and racers alike have to walk on the track at some time during the night and walking to the track requires walking in dirt which was very wet friday night it would have been nearly impossible to keep the track or atleast the front straight clean. All of the guys there knew to not step on the track from the dirt which just happens to surround 90% of the racing surface so the problem that night would've been keeping all 25 to 35 racers from doing the same thing. Also there was still water standing in areas of the touring track so allthough some may disagree I believe the races were justly called. Maybe a little early but due to the fact that some people do have to drive from out of town I"m of the opinion that there should be a set time that the races if in danger of being called should be so. I have been in the position to call the races or race before and like Dave P. said you can not please everyone all the time but if there's a little consistancy in the events leading up to a called race everyone will know what to expect. The long range forecast as of now for friday looks good. Lets keep our fingers crossed. Oh yeah someone cut the grass and weedeat'ed the area s between the catch fence and the track so if it hadnt rained we would've had a better looking facility to race on. Actually thats rcovalracer 05-02-2004, 04:50 PM I almost took off for Branford this am but I wasnt able to get onto aol for a quick weather report so here I sit. No,rain for us today, just racing :) Hey Dave,I seen Jerry's body today, nice work...http://thercedge.com/forums/images/smiles/radio-thumbs.gif shawnleary 05-02-2004, 04:56 PM I never really saw any "out-of-towners" come on the Sunday's, that I went to, during the winter months. There was a huge cry for weekend racing, but no one showed. I agree with Shannon on the cost as well. Maybe a seperate Sunday point series would draw more folks out. If it were one Sunday a month, we could do best three out of four. I could handle going to one Sunday a month, even if it is 15 bucks. Trophy races?!?!?!? I'll pay 20 for that. time to go cycle my packs. Shawn parrott88 05-02-2004, 06:10 PM I dissagree with you David on that one....... DEO RACING 05-02-2004, 08:37 PM Shawn I recall attending several Sunday racing events and not seeing you there , only until the weather warmed up did I start not coming ,I even went so far as to bring my blower and blow the track off on Sundays. Phillip DEO RACING 05-02-2004, 08:47 PM John AKA Speed racer DEEPBLUE 05-02-2004, 08:50 PM John AKA Speed racer Ya thats right. Not!! Ha Ha rcgen 05-02-2004, 08:56 PM Hey John are we still scheduled to run next Sunday, Mother's Day? If so I need to know so I can start sweet talking my wife and making some good excuses  DEEPBLUE 05-02-2004, 08:56 PM All the sunday ideas are good but untill people start to show up I am putting anythig in GOLD but we will race as long as there are at lest 16 to 20 racer and three or more makes a class.
