Should be a good turn-out in Branford Sunday... thanks for the reply George, I went ahead and took the day off, hopefully I will be turning left in Jax.

The last couple of scheduled sundays no one has shown up to race. How come? I dont know but the track is usually in really good shape and the sun deffinately puts more light on the track and pit areas than even the best artificial lighting could ever wish to. It's baffling to me but for some reason friday nights are king when it comes to racing at hw.

I have an idea, Why not run special events on sundays? Not like a three wheel race or a race where everyone must mount their bodies on the cars backwards or some other goofy rule but more like an all oval or roadcourse only event.

If done there could be three qualifiers and a main instead of the usual two.

We're already racing only every other sunday so it would be a easy rotation. I myself would like to race my TC3 but I can only run one class a night/day so it would be easier to do if only one class i.e. oval or onroad were offered. I've already committed to run the whole stock oval points series so that's what my friday night racing will be. Maybe a 19t race or two but only oval for now.

Another thing to ponder is that if only one class is offered maybe the racers that dont have the other cars in their stable may buy one because we all want to race on any given race day and thats a plus for all of us. More racers is usually a good thing. If only road course is offered only road course will be run and vice versa. Oh yeah I found my smileys too!

sounds like a plan, I can tell you this the Southern 500 will be all oval and lot's of it! Tire wear is low here but you will know you have been racing......

Wade, It'll be fun racing with you again. We've got a good group of guys racing in stock now. Come on and getcha some. But beware of Jerry Parrott and Dave Puliafico. I may have the track record for now but either of those two can get it with a clean run. Even Shannon Stephenson is getting really quick too so dont count him out. I'm still looking for that four or five car pack coming off the fourth turn after time has expired with everyone spread out as they cross the line. Oh yeah! Racing is getting good at hw.

Maybe a separate Sunday points series would help. Would alternating between TC and Oval mean that we'd run something every Sunday, or will we still take every other Sunday off and only run each class on one Sunday a month?

I'd love to come race on Sunday, but I'm usually still trying to figure out why my car sucked so bad on Friday that day!

We've only had two race day Sundays since we changed it. Yesterday was suppose to be a raceday but it was Easter Sunday. The word needs to get around as to which Sundays we are racing and not this "we're suppose to race". Maybe we can set up a schedule and post it in the store, here at all 3 hw treads and the websites. I personally don't know which Sundays we race unless I hear it on Friday or read it here.

You know what I'll take the initative and create a flyer with the dates and see if they will post it in the stores and post it here there and everywhere. Just provide me the dates. The website will be up to Shawn & George.

I would like to run nitro/electric touring on Sundays and have a kids 12 and under program or maybe nastruck oval/roadcourse. Something different from our Friday schedule.

I won't abe able to race on the 25 a Sunday race because we have birthday plans for my son. I just had an idea...we need to attract more racers and Sundays would be the ideal day to do it. We can have five to ten cars setup in which new drivers can use and try it out.

I know on Fridays we get alot of new/inquiring potential racers at the track. They ask questions and see us work on our cars, but are reluctant to bring their cars to the track and race with us. We need to encourage them to bring it and/or have a day for them and you fast/seasoned guys can help them out j/k I'll help too lol

The five to ten cars setup probable not a good idea unless someone or a business can donate the cars. I just thought about that after reading my post.

Yah Butts is right the competition in 4 cell stock is heating up and the racing is very close and clean. the 19t guys are jealous.

I have been working hard on my car trying to find Jerrys speed. the biggest problem right now is finding the right gear for the motor.

Bryan you'd be surprise how your car drives differently from day time racing and night time racing. I raced a Sunday day race and the car was set up and I didn't touch a thing didn't practice on Thursday, Friday night my car was sliding all over the place.

the Main idea of sundays was for the winter months mid Nov - Feb . what some of use wanted to do was due away with friday nights for these months because of the cold. but what happened is they voted on it and a few guys were hardheaded and wanted fridays. so the compromise was a everyother sunday. which happedned a few times.

So now that the weather is heating up I think that sunday racing is going to go bye bye.

Hopefully next winter we can stop racing on friday nights and start up the sunday thing!!!

Rcgen i agree 100% but unfortunatly the best place to promote the racing doesn't!!!!

If we want more racers, we need to get HW to stop pushing monster trucks and offroad buggies on people that don't know what they want. I was in today and watched them steer an old couple with their grandson toward a Duratrax Evader. They should be pushing TC3 RTRs and XXX-Sports and telling people that they make great parking lot cars, but can also race right out back when you feel up to the challenge.

We need to start reporting our race results to the Florida Times-Union every Saturday too. If we keep giving them race results, sooner or later some reporter will get curious and come out to watch. When he sees all the spectators we get on a Friday, he might just decide that we have a legitimate event and start giving us a little coverage.

But if he brings a photographer, don't complain about the flash!! :D We don't want THAT kind of coverage.

Oh yeah! I'm too aware of that already! I usually set up my car in the afternoon on Sunday or Monday and then let it sit until Friday night. I get to the track at 6 pm Friday and have to make changes to keep it from being so loose. I need a Day Car and a Night Car.

I wonder if that's sufficient justification for the wife???

irvan36mm
04-13-2004, 12:58 AM
Bryan- Reporting the results & points standings to the FL Tiimes-Union is a really cool idea. Especially when HW already has their ads in the Sports section! Maybe use a portion of the registration $$ towards a combo HW ad/standings spot? "Clay Today" used to be a good rag,but it would also be a neat deal, too.

Another idea would be this: I was watching TV late Friday night after getting home from the races & caught some local high school sports action on the Comcast "Community Affairs" channel (Ch-56?). I thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be cool if they aired one of our race nights on TV?" Maybe we'll have to get w/ Dan & see if he knows who to talk to about doing something like this! Hmmm!

DaveP- Here's the secret to Jerry's speed: K-E-Y-E-N-C-E !!!! lol
Chris- I emailed the standings to Shawn, but you're now 4th in points!

I had a rough weekend on call at work. People keep having heart attacks in the middle of the night when I'm on-call. The nerve of some people, lol. I will get those points up tonight or tomorrow. Me and Jason are tied for third in points, with George leading and Tom close behind in second. The few hours I did have to myself this weekend I spent painting a new body. I'm lovin this liquid paint mask crap, it lets me do a lot more than I could with regular tape. I tried for the first time with the body that I'm running since Snowbirds. Flames do look like lobster claws if the racer isn't an artist by trade, so I'm "steering" clear of the flames on this body. Hopefully I'll have it mounted for this Friday. Dave P is gonna love it, i'm sure of it. ;)
Go Red Sox!!

I dont know what the solution is, but I do know that I would LOVE to see enough racers to make A, B, C, and D Mains. I am going to buy an oval car soon just to have another class to run. I know I still have a ton of things to learn in TC but just running 3 races a week is not cutting it for me lol. On top of that I have had to either duck out of plans or come up with exscuses the last 2 Fridays and it looks like I am going to miss this Friday due to a birthday. I just wish there were more places in town to race. I dont mind driving but Orlando is a long way to go every weekend. Personally, I would race every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that I possibly could. And that means if I am in town I am there lol.

I think the newspaper idea would be awesome. The County Line is a weekly paper that would probably do a story too if someone wanted to contact them. I know alot of people have TCs out there that probably dont even know about the track. I have been in the OP store before and hearing people ask about racing or tracks and the employees tell them that they have to go to the 103rd street store or call over there to get any info. They dont mention there is a track there they just act like the people have to call 103rd to find out any info about any tracks.

If I ever won the lottery I would definitely open an indoor track with oval and TC on seperate layouts so they could run at the same time. I would have an onsite shop that really catered to the scene. But, I dont see myself winning anytime soon lol.

OK Jax racers, Big Red will appear for the 3rd time to try to race this Friday. Some one who knows for sure tell me when we can gain access to the track, where we are allowed to park our 20' trailer, what time you start and the track records. We really want to race with y'all and don't want to get the reception we recieved the past two times we showed up down there. So I guess we need to know how to act. See y'all Friday.

David Butts

Clifford. The track should be open all day from about 10:00 on till we finish racing around midnight. The guys who clean the track usually show up around 5:00 or earlier so when they're trying to blow all the leaves and dirt off they like no one to try and run on the track for obvious reasons.

As far as parking that hauler you have, If you have a generator the third or fourth turn areas are usually vacant. If you need electric and get there early enough you can park next to the trees accross from the back straight if you have a really long and big extension cord. I feel I can speak for most of the racers at the track who have absolutely nothing to do with the way you guys were treated last time that we all welcome any racer(s) no matter where they're from.

Now the records for the classes you may be interested in are stock 32 4:02.80 and 19t 35 4:00.51. both are 4 cell. The pro-spec record was set last friday at 33 4:06something but I dont think you have the specified spec stuff specifically specified by the specifications of that special class. In other words it's pretty much a hobby world deal.:D Oh yeah. Sign up's open at about 7:00 or a little earlier and close right before 8:00. The racing is loose and fun and it starts around 8:15 or so.

Dave P. work on his car? Nah say it isnt so. The last two weeks my first pack run was the pack left in the car since the previous week. Hmm maybe I need to work on my car too? Clean the motor? Man now we're getting high tech. Next thing you know we'll be dustin'em off too between runs. I guess I could go out in to the garage and crack open a cold beer or two. I wont get much done on the car but thats where the beer refrigerator is.

I just looked at the weather for friday night and all I can say is you'd better be there. This could be the best friday night yet since we're almost into the sticky, high humidity, mosquito season. Oh yeah anybody hear about the snake we found in turn four? I sent him to the neighbors yard. He was dead when we found him but he got there somehow. eeeeeewwwww I hate snakes. sssssssss
