Thanks to everyone who helped me Last night. Even thought I only made 17 laps in 3 events I still had a blast and just had to thank you guys for all the help. Special thanks for use of the battery packs, T-bar, bearing, servo saver, screws and washers. Time to buy more stuff...lol. Thanks to all you guys.

Hey Butts, why aren't we running 5 minute races in stock? I'm not suggesting, merely asking.

Actually Shannon like Dave P. says I do believe that roar rules state all 1/10th oval races to be 4 minutes but it's up to the actual track.

I for one(like I have any say on anything at hw)would like to see all the classes stay at 4 minutes because it's easier to compare lap counts and speeds between them. I also think that increasing the race lenghth would bring back the battery of the week stigma that almost killed oval racing in the early 90's.

Meaning that somebody would go out of their way to buy the hottest longest lasting highest numbers packs to be found and then everyone else would have to play catchup or go home and right now runtime isnt really a problen in stock. Look at our lap times now at the speeds we're running in stock. Only Jerry Parrots times didnt fall off or fall off very much. Almost everyone else is in cruise mode at the end of 4 so I think going to 5 would cause us to gear down to the point that stock wouldnt be as fun as it is the way we're all going now.

Another thing to ponder is for someone like me who only has a few good packs but runs in both stock and 19t is the cycling of the batteries. A pack thats used mostly in 4 minute races but then used for 5 may begin to go flat in that last minute if used repeatedly. I know nicds did but I'm not sure of the memory resistance of 3300's.

I do know that my good packs That I ran friday night didnt seem to have the punch they usually give and they were used last sunday at Branford in 5 minute racing. Hmm? Theres something to think about.

And as usual I answered a simple question with a novel.

butts about the batteries. they say 3300 don't have a memory but that is bs. I have run oval guys packs in my 1/12th scale and you are right they are flat.

Yep The memory that the 3300's do not have is the partial charge or discharge retainment that nicds arent very receptive to. The actual useage of the battery is still very dependant on the type of racing it has been trained on. Or so I've read.

There will be no racing at hw on friday the 19th or sunday the 21st. Only open practice if the gate is left open and the lights are left on.

David Butts can get you setup for it,he won the A-Main last Sunday

Any chassis,4 cell,27t stock motor,Nastruck style body,no wing, just a 2in. max. chord on the spoiler(nobody has ever really measured). That is all. Same as Nascar 4 cell stock but with Nastruck bods. Kevin

Jerry, thats what we were afraid of. Just kidding we welcome the butt(tm)kicking. It raises the bar for all. I put a different set of the same compound tires on my car friday night and it litterally wouldnt go down the straights. Looked like I was drunk or something. Put the old set back on and boom! Rock solid and steady again. Strange stuff this oval racing it is. See you soon.

Maybe we can get Wade to change his mind about the place and get him back here too. Might as well bring the whole Georgia gang for some fun. Look forward to racing with(following)you Donnie.

Well I dont know where my memory went but with my wife in Miami and maybe being operated on and it's my weekend coming up to work it doesnt look good for me in Branford this sunday. We'll see. All the other Jax guys are looking for some new challenges it looks though.

Since we're not racing this weekend, what's the chances of the powers to be at HW start the every other Sunday race schedule on the 28th of March. That way the racers will have alternating Sundays for HW, Brandford and/or Echeconnee. What do you think?

RPM - expensive :-( thats a bummer...

I think HW is more...follow me on this one and correct me if I am wrong HW races are $15 for the first class and $5 each for the next. So to run two classes in on night $20...three classes $25 etc....Track practice 7 days week $0 no cost, right...prices for replacement parts $$$ (touring guys)hummm...watching davep, brad and bear beat each other up PRICELESS... :jest:

i'm ,lost on the whole RPM speedway will cost more to race at?

RPM has a 10,000 square foot building to pay for every month. RPM does all the track maitenance and has excellent lighting. RPM also has another 5,000 square feet of outdoor tracks to pay for this includes a brand new outdoor asphault racing surface to pay for. RPM is air conditioned and has heat in the winter! if it cost 25.00 to race at rpm i would pay it! 15.00 is a bargain.. oh yeah and if you travel to rpm you know you are going to race come sleet, snow or rain...not to mention when you do drive down there speedshop has 3 million parts for every brand car you can imagine..including custom works cars! why would anyone be suprised if hobby worlds entry was cheaper? WOW! you are comparing a mercedes to a yugo.....you cant compare cpt to rpm back in the day..there is no other track or place to race in florida that comes even close to RPM...i cant wait til it gets going...man it's sweet! but yes it comes with a hefty price tag..

BryanW92
03-15-2004, 05:59 PM
Who cares what RPM costs? Its going to more fun than a day at Disneyworld and look what that costs!

Now, if they put up those mazes and make us stand in line for 2 hours to get 15 minutes of track time--then it won't be worth the money!

I'm going to agree with katfish- RPM is by far the best racing facility I've ever seen. For the past two weeks I've seen the hobby shop grow. Need parts- got them on the walls.Pits -slot cars, video driving games oh yes seating around the track to watch the racing.I've seen both tracks-oval and road course.Even seen the outdoor track- smooth. It's only a 2 hour trip from my home to the front door of RPM.Folks it's worth the trip.

Wow! Thats exactly what was discussed friday night after the races. Tom and George were in on the discussion and all thats left is getting the straight poop from John Hart(its his lap counter). Branford being the fun track that it is and with no other race tracks in Jax to worry about scheduling wise I see no reason to not work around the schedules to allow everyone to race where they please and when they please.

Last time I was there to practice they charged me $5.00 to practice.

Before they resurfaced the track it was $3.00. Maybe they were just charging me more to make up for those that aren't paying. :jest:

Butts(tm)- If ya think about it,we race every other Sundays. This Sunday would have been our Sunday race (3/21). It is also Branford's raceday, too. If we're not racing this Sunday because of Daytona and pick the Sunday schedule back up next Sunday (3/28),then we would be in sync w/the Branford schedule. I think the schedule issue fixed itself-because of the Daytona race!
