View Full Version : Hobby World Paved Oval Official Thread. It's Back
katf1sh 01-01-2004, 02:58 AM ok what i dont understand is why keep bashing roar? when the track has decided it is going to become a roar track? the decision has been made? for all who do not like the idea vote with your wallets..if you cant afford 30.00 a year to race at a very nice track than so be it..
i joined roar through extreme r/c it cost me 10.00 because you get 1 year subscription to extreme and that alone is 20.00...so for 10.00 a year the track has insurance so we can race? i find that a deal..
if you do not see it that way than i say dont race, dont join roar and go on your merry way.
minnreg is roar
rpm speedway is roar
the florida oval series is roar
the florida on road series is roar
the florida off road series is roar
the j ville carpet track is roar
hobby world is roar
if you race in the state of florida you kind of have to join roar to race anywhere decent? for good or for bad. i'm not going to argue about roar being good or bad. i'm going to tell you that these tracks and clubs are roar. choose to race there and have fun..or choose not to and sit at home..if enough of you guys sit at home the track may have to rethink roar. but you are kicking a dead horse when you ask why roar..but in 04 these are the clubs and tracks that are roar..
and shame on you guys for sending in the roar aps so late in the game? you all knew hobbyworld was going roar 2 months ago! now you want someone to trust your shady butts? ahahahahahahahahah
i think they said the track record gets erased every year anyways? sorry david..he he take a deep breath when you sign that check for 30.00 a pretend your joining a r/c club so you can race with your friends at a kickass track! i think bill fraden will be able to get a updated roar list and you guys "might" have your names on it? he he
David Butts 01-01-2004, 10:08 AM Hey Katf1sh(I spelled it right this time) the use of the word butts(as in your shady butts) in any fashion or form is copyrighted by me. My attorneys will be contacting you. :jest:
David Butts 01-01-2004, 10:17 AM Well i don't see whats advange is going 2 roar people say its ISN in case I get hurt or some1 gets hurt? THATS BULL S#$! when u go 2 pecan park U SIGN A WAVER. Bsides I have Ins on myself so y should i have 2 pay 4 ROAR???? So some 1 can get my MONEY?????? Some 1 tell my Y I should give up my MONEY????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????
Hey TNT we all have to have roar cards. Its been common knowledge since before the track was repaved that the entry fee would go to $15 and as of jan 1st we were all to have roar membership. It was the shop owners(read, controlers of where and when we race) that deciced it not the racers and it does have some advantages. One for you will be a rule book so you can now see how all of us other racers are cheating.? :D I think they are settting up some kind of join at the track deal so its not too bad. Just consider it that new motor you were going to buy anyway. P.s. put a wing on that car
tnt racing 01-01-2004, 11:19 AM No wing on is going on my car thanks but no thanks it dose fine without it. AS of roar and the vote I am new 2 the racing I was not there when all this happen then I get out here and find out about roar.
It sounds like a way 4 some 1 to get more of my money. No thanks 4 sitting at the house thats y i go 2 race or try 2 race. All I am saying its more money 4 what? Whats next pay 4 parking 5 dollars .And no 1 has told me of the advange of roar . What ins,I have isn on me my truck is isn ,So I still don't see a ADVANGE. Some 1 tell me thanks
TNT Racing
BullFrog 01-01-2004, 11:30 AM Thank you Kat and David. I went to HW yesterday and spoke both with Greg and Don. They are going to wait until they get the ROAR Legal Fencing around the track.I will be there this Friday night and will take ROAR forms with me. I do have alist of who's a member or not in my region- Sorry Phil.I can contact Fred Monday and see what happened to yours.Fred could be on break as it only takes about two weeks after it is sent in to be returned.HW as well as the off-road track will both have copies of the current members by this weekend.
I going to say something again- These tracks(OWNERS) have decided on their own to join and require ROAR.I'will have a box of kleenex at the track for those that require it.
By the way HW will also have a Frequency board coming- use it.I also heard they were looking into the new AMB system - it isn't cheap. Someone's got to pay. No racers No System. If you don't race there it will soon become what it was before I paved it---------a dust bowl.Nobody used it or cared. Then you can hang all that R/C equipment on the wall or throw it away. You can then tell your buddies all your bench racing stories but they won't know what your talking about.
Butt's I got your Butt covered.Kat what flavor of Boylans do you want- Creamy Red?- You got one coming on me.
DEO RACING 01-01-2004, 11:48 AM Bill I would appreciate you doing thatI sent mine off at the first of the month for myself and the boys, will I not be able to race if they are not back yet?
tnt racing 01-01-2004, 12:34 PM I am not bashing roar or HW or any 1. WHAT DO I GET 4 MY MONEY??????????????????????????????
BullFrog 01-01-2004, 12:57 PM Plain and Simple- You get to race your toy car at HW and the many other ROAR sationed tracks. Otherwise there is always your driveway.
shawnleary 01-01-2004, 01:38 PM Well I decided to read the rules of ROAR today before I head out to the game.
Taken from the ROAR website. This one is my favorite and the one that bothers me the most, not that it matters, just thought I would bring it out in the open.
"1-8: No driver, pit crew member, or sponsor will have any claim for damages, expenses,
lawsuits, or otherwise against a promoter, track operator, or ROAR, its officials, agents, or
employees, arising from damage to any car, personal injury, or monetary loss of any kind
whatsoever. Drivers, pit crew members, and sponsors waive any claim they may have against a
promoter, track operator, or ROAR, when they participate in any racing activity conducted under
these rules."
I guess this means if we do get hurt, since we are ROAR members, we are agreeing not to sue Hobby World, ROAR, Bill, John Hart etc for anything that happens while we are running. Sounds like we are waiving our rights to seek compensation from Hobby World if something goes wrong.
I also can't wait to see all three officials present during the first ROAR race, this is also from the ROAR rules
"Level 1 races have the minimum requirements for officials. That level will only need a Race
Director, Technical Inspector and Scorekeeper. The list of officials below will give you an idea of
the duties to be handled at the different levels. Having quality, knowledgeable personnel and the
racer's respect of the host's ability to apply ROAR rules is paramount in having an event go well.
When each player (racer, official, organizer, etc...) is aware of their position and corresponding
responsibilities, the event will go smoothly. These persons must all be ROAR members."
So this friday we should see all these minimum requirements fullfilled. Someone teching our cars?!?!? AWESOME, ROAR might actually prove benificial, we are paying for it to be properly run by the rules, right?
One last annoying point. Are the walls at least 24 inches in the corners? If not, the Super Speedway is not a ROAR legal track.
"1-27: In addition to the barriers mentioned below and in the Type or Class Specific Rules, the
following should be used to protect any spectator areas: On high speed oval tracks, the outside
wall should be at least 24” high; the bottom 12” should be at least 3/4” plywood; and the upper
portion should be lexan or wire fence, but plywood may be used. On high speed road courses, it
is recommended that spectator areas be protected by a catch fence. This should be wire fence or
construction netting at least 24” high, placed 5’ or more from the outer retaining wall."
DEO RACING 01-01-2004, 01:55 PM Oh my GOD!!!!!!!! Just race gee wizz, quit worying about this and that.
Joe Malin 01-01-2004, 02:03 PM Hey Shawn......... I'll volunteer for Technical Inspector. Be ready to have it taken apart though. As for John Hart, he can be the Race
Director and Scorekeeper. Now all three are covered. If you would like I'll bring Rule Book and we can bring out calipers and split the fine hairs.
Remember one thing. That lock on the gate don't have to come off.
See Ya friday...........
DEO RACING 01-01-2004, 02:12 PM Joe you can split my hair anytime,Cant wait to see how many are actually LEGAL!!!!!

David Butts 01-01-2004, 03:29 PM Well since it hasnt been covered sofar today. All the roar guidelines that are in the books "must be adhered to" during the duration of an roar regional, super regional, state championship or national championship event. Which in the future may indeed happen there again.
There was an on road national event held there in 2000. The weekly races at hw are just considered local events and as such there are no requirements for roar officials to be present. I think this is getting out of hand and the bottom line is we all want a place to race and the powers that be have decree'd that we have a roar membership to continue.
As Bill stated earlier that until the required barrier that Shawn brought up is in place which could be anyday now roar rules are not met by the facility but all the racers either current or in the future should make every attempt in getting their respective membership cards. Man I talk like an attorney .
This is all just another stumbling block in our quest for hobby happiness and it too will be overcome with time. Strange how whats discussed on here usually isnt brought up at the track. Maybe it's because we all enjoy working on and racing our little cars to the point of distractions be come just that. Distractions. LETS RACE!
"Keep it off the pipes"
bigdon18 01-01-2004, 03:37 PM i feel so happy now,,,,

katf1sh 01-01-2004, 03:46 PM it's ashame they are missing the point here. the track picked roar not the racers. if you want to race at hobby world or the half dozen other locations you will need to join roar. OTHERWISE PLEASE SPEND YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME AT ANOTHER RACE TRACK THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE ROAR.
THE BENEFIT OF JOINING ROAR ARE MANY.
BUT THE ONLY ONE YOU ALL NEED TO WORRY ABOUT IS THE RULE STATING IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A ROAR NUMBER YOU CANNOT RACE AT HOBBY WORLD.
IT'S LIKE A DRIVERS LICENSE. WHAT DOES IT DO FOR YOU? YOU GET TO DRIVE IF YOU HAVE ONE! the world is full of rules that we follow..we all dont agree with all of them..i know i dont! but i understand what happens when i dont follow a rule..
stop crying about roar to all of us. we dont own any tracks. we dont make up any of these rules. we all like to race..stop getting hung up over 30.00 and the "what does it do for me non sense" just know that without that little roar number you dont get to race at hobby world. NONE OF US HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THAT RULE! relax you all are very lucky to have a nice track to race at! daytona doesn't have any tracks! were the birth place of speed? what a joke! do you think i would pay 30.00 a year if someone told me they would build a hobby world 15 miles from my house? c'mon guys....buy a extreme r/c magazine at books a million and send in the magazine subscription in the back NOW ROAR COST YOU just 10.00 and you get a years worth of extreme delivered to your door step..

You guys have a freshly repaved oval with lights and apparently the owners are taking great steps in trying to become a premier racing facility..... don't let joining ROAR or that the wall heights are not exactly high enough right now spoil what you have......believe me...Katfish, myself and a bunch of other guys would like to have a hobbyworld type place to race very week if we liked.
Get your ROAR card, dont sweat the minor details for now....have fun and race in 2004!.....

David Butts 01-01-2004, 05:31 PM Have any of you guys picked up the jan 04 issue of xtreme rc? If you have, have you noticed the pullout poster of the monster truck in the center. Huh you havent looked at it? Me neither until today, Why would I be interested in a monster truck? I'm not but I got tired of turning to that page everytime I opened it up. Well I finally ripped that puppy out and Oh my, Forget the truck, Look on the back. EEKS! Those guys who have it dont waste any time. Now if your upset by the fine female form by all means give that magazine to someone else without pulling the poster out. They'll be your friend for life. Happy new years everyone! This rc stuff has gotten interesting, All we used to get was a picture of Chris Chianelli with a dirt car in rcca. Oh how the times they are a changing.
David Butts 01-01-2004, 05:34 PM Oh yeah when can we plan on the Daytona crew and the guys from Valdosta, Dublin, Macon and branford coming our way for a little sunday bashing uh I mean racing? I know y'all read these posts as I read yours too. Theres some track records waiting on you guys and they're ripe for the picking.
katf1sh 01-01-2004, 05:44 PM sorry dave no outdoor bull shiznit for us until after the snowbirds..we have bigger fish to fry..uh oh another play on words? he he

rcovalracer 01-01-2004, 06:29 PM Hey David I will see if I can't get some of the other Branford guys to come with me the 30th,see you guys then..Kevin
Are guys running 4 cell stock? or 19t?
Just my opinion,ROAR $30,Foams$40,Motor in question $45,race entry $15,allowed to race= PRICELESS
David Butts 01-01-2004, 06:43 PM Hey David I will see if I can't get some of the other Branford guys to come with me the 30th,see you guys then..Kevin

I'll tell everyone that the price of foams is neglegible in the long run. I use a red rf and purple's lf,lr,and rr. all trc's bought at the store. All trued only for concentricity to 2.35 not for diameter and I have almost no tire wear since I started back oval racing. That also is the same setup and tire combination I use on the carpet.
Get someone to split the two pairs of fronts with you and thats $30 for tires at retail. racing is fun at the track regardless of if its the pro-spec class(rules found elsewhere), the 19t 4cell class(c2's only), the hardly run 4cell stock class or the road course. And for you mathematically enhanced types the 19t record was with a 1.43 roll out. Pull those gears and you my friend have an efficient motor.
shawnleary 01-01-2004, 06:51 PM joe, take mine apart anytime. :) See-ya Friday.
And david, I agree with you on the sunday, where's the out of towners that have cried for weekend racing??? I love it.
bigdon18 01-01-2004, 07:14 PM shawn,
me and tim have plan on coming down on a sunday ,, but the last two times yall ran on sundays its been with in two day notice, so its alittle hard to just jump up and run to the track with out getting things lined up with both our familys. the 11th race at brandford has been building up to be a big one since the macon and dublin crew is coming down there plus they always have a good turn out,, almost 20 cars in the stock class. the 11th is also the minrig race and all the hobby world big dogs will be there, from what i hear. i will run hobby world very soon on a sunday or a warmer friday night,,, got me a tc car and i plan on puttin some marks on the other side of the pipes to,, so i hope you dont take it as me crying for sunday racing because iam from out of town,, believe me i would be there every week if i could.

katf1sh 01-01-2004, 07:35 PM dave if you run a red rf and purple lf front tire on carpet you are in big trouble! that is unless you like push? don races with the smallest budget out of any 2 of us combined..he finds a way to race up front at every carpet race. i'm a roar and norcca member! double trouble!

BullFrog 01-01-2004, 08:47 PM Man I go watch Football today and turn on the computer and there is 2 plus pages. For Shawn - the track was legal back when it was built. Wen the fencing goes up it will be again. You guys and gals will use frequency pins. Also no open toe shoe
Why - simple for SAFTEY.Level 1 events (local races) if they want to tech the cars or weight them it's up to them.At level two events or greater they follow the rules. When the track was orginally built it was ROAR.It's now come full circle again and ROAR once again. If you don't like all the rules - just go out somewhere and do it yourself. But your Number one rules should be " If I'm not having fun it's time to find another Hobby".Enjoy the facility and race.
David Butts 01-01-2004, 08:47 PM Set your car up for the harder, longer wearing, lower rolling resistance tires and theres no push to be had. there were more than one racer scratching their heads at the scaleboard numbers from my car. I dont own a scaleboard but I do know how to set up my car for the way I like it to handle. Softer tires just eat up lap times. Now as far as the butts(trade mark) kicking I took at the last carpet race? I overlooked the fact that on these cars the opposite side shock controls side to side weight because of where they're attached to the car. It was Bill"I dont race oval"Fraden that brought that to my attention at hw a couple of weeks ago. Hey its been a while since I looked at a car much less thought about it. See you guys in a couple of weeks.
Echeconnee 01-01-2004, 09:23 PM Fella's settle down about the roar thing, I was merely stating that my desire to race at different places is greater than my dislike for roar. Look forward to seeing some of you guys in Branford on the 11th and soon in Jax. We take off here in Macon until April so we can get out and about a bit in the off season. Daytona bound in MArch baby, yee haaaaaa!
davepull 01-01-2004, 10:21 PM i'll I got to say in Butts is doing his own thing which is fast so it must be working.
davepull 01-01-2004, 10:26 PM there are lot of things about a offical roar tech that alot of you guys won't like so I would stop wishing for it. 95% of the oval cars would have to buy new bodies. also if they were to run a Roar regional race I do believe that pro spec would not be allowed to run for the title because it isn't a offical roar class. but could be ran as a promoters class
BullFrog 01-01-2004, 10:42 PM correct about the pro spec class. They really don't have to worry about a regional at HW this year as all the regional races have been awarded already.Basic rules for local racing- weight.I'll be there tommorrow night if you've got more questions.I'll also have all the series, regionals and nationals sheets for everyone.
katf1sh 01-01-2004, 10:56 PM dave i said carpet! but hey i know nothing! lol keep on keeping on :drunk:
davepull 01-01-2004, 11:01 PM dave i said carpet! but hey i know nothing! lol keep on keeping on :drunk:
I agree with you there Mr Butts didn't have the showing that he would have liked to lasttime on the carpet but I look for him only to improve he is a smart man oh yah and a butthead. lol
David Butts 01-01-2004, 11:09 PM dave i said carpet! but hey i know nothing! lol keep on keeping on :drunk: I know you said carpet. I think my beer can was typing earlier. As a matter of fact it's still typing. Beer, It's like comm drops for the brain. It only lasts until the last drop is gone. Now as far as that steak house is concerned, I think Texas Roadhouse here in orange Park is hard to beat.
