View Full Version : Hobby World Paved Oval Official Thread. It's Back
davepull 12-23-2003, 09:50 PM Bill shawn is refer to the fact that he has known about the roar thing for a couple of months now and has been putting it off. now when he shows up to race he either dishes out $45 membership and $ 15 race fee or pays 15 mem 15 race fee then the next time does the same thing. Alll i have to say is we at the carpet track mad the announcement in oct that in jan we would be roar heck we even told them about the rc extreme deal which I took advantage of.
Echeconnee 12-23-2003, 09:51 PM I never mentioned anything about the dues or fees or anything. I merely said that Hobby World should know what is covered, that's it. As far as new quizmo's are concerned, if it has quad magnets, don't bring it to macon! ROAR is going to allow them because Ernie said so, so guess what? All of you ROAR guys have to eat it. Personally I would like to see all of the motors go brushless and that scares the hell out of Trinity ie: their full page ad in RCCA.
Echeconnee 12-23-2003, 09:53 PM Like I said before, I really don't care what any of the FL tracks do. We just wanted to come down and race some new faces but we are not willing to feed ROAR to do it. HAve fun guys.......
davepull 12-23-2003, 09:58 PM not trying to push your buttons but Reedy was the first with the quad mag motors at snowbirds last year. to the owneres of hobby world the easiest way to do it was roar. and like bill says if you want to race in florida roar is becoming the norm. i personally don't care about paying the membership fee. I trow a new body on my car because I am sick of looking at the one that is on there so ther is my 30.00
DEO RACING 12-23-2003, 10:22 PM Clifford I know who you are I have been to your track nice track good group of guys, just had to mess with you a little, although it has been a few years.Maybe HW will do like first coast use to do and allow 2 races before joining roar would like to race you again and perhaps outrun you again also HE HE HE
Phillip
davepull 12-23-2003, 10:31 PM that would be cool DEO but the only problem is in order for the insurance to be effective every racer must be a member. they do have a sigle race membership. but Cliff has made it loud and clear that ROAR is the devil and he will not support them. don't take that the wrong way I understand your views on ROAR and Respect that
hey Shannon You going to make it to the carpet track for prospec racing?
davepull 12-23-2003, 10:42 PM Deo is the maverick and pro parts car the same? and have you see that car on the website with the vertical side shocks?
irvan36mm 12-23-2003, 10:46 PM thanks 4 info where can i get a good battery box for L3? or any website that might help?
TNT- Hobby World has them. They are the "RC10 Battery Cups w/Hdwre"-part # 6334. Cost is around $6.00. These are what me & the rest of the Pro-Spec guys are using for mounting our Spec battery packs. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you're at the track! A lot (if not all) of the racers there are more than willing to help someone in need of assistance with their car-regardless of what type it is.See ya soon!
DaveP-I'll definitely be there (FCCR) next race w/my Pro-Spec car & 4-cell stock parts, just in case!
-George
DEO RACING 12-23-2003, 11:19 PM Dave if you are talking about the car on the Maverick thread that is a prototype that Jake I believe built.
davepull 12-23-2003, 11:23 PM yah that thing is wild looking.
Donnie_99 12-23-2003, 11:45 PM i will just run boylan's races or the daytona race no membership
we bought or own insurance 250 a year covers anyone on our property
tnt racing 12-24-2003, 07:59 AM Man people what happen 2 have fun? Y worry about this or that have fun life is 2 short for adding more bull than life gives out all ready. I sure if all of u think back when u started out ,U started because it WAS FUN THINK ABOUT.
shawnleary 12-24-2003, 11:20 AM 15 for ROAR, (first race) 15 to race, total 30 dollars. Second night of racing, 15 for ROAR, and 15 for racing. That's 60 bucks if you add it. I'm sorry it was so complicated when I said 60 bucks for the first timers total for two races. The first timer isn't going to even know or think about ROAR until they get to the track.
I'm sending in my RCXtreme magazine subscription so at least I get some benifit from joining ROAR. : )
I'm just looking out for the new racers that come occasionally and will have to dish out quite a bit to get started. Like Phil said, mayby HW could cut the cost for those newbies to 5 bucks for the first two races making it a little more affordable. We do want new people right? Or are we satisfied with 20 guys every Friday night?
Like David said, it's a "moot point" anyway.
BryanW92 12-24-2003, 11:58 AM Actually, a true newbie's first race costs about $600 (don't tell my wife!!). Adding another $30 for ROAR membership isn't going to drive anyone away once they've thrown down so much money already just to get on the track. I'll join through the magazine so I can get the subscription but I wish it was a magazine devoted to onroad/oval racing only because monster trucks, dirt buggies, and nitro aren't my thang!
But, I do think that HW should give out some kind of coupon that can be exchanged for free track time. Something like giving you a $1 coupon for every $20 or $50 you spend on your car would be nice. Even bowling alleys usually give you some free games if you buy a ball from them.
I'd also love to see enough drivers there to break into an A Main and B Main so the speed demons can run together and the rookies can drive a Main without fear of being run over.
irvan36mm 12-24-2003, 12:03 PM I remember when I got into this "mess" about 4 years ago, racing at HW required a ROAR membership. So this deal about getting a membership to race at HW isn't really a "new" idea!
-George
shawnleary 12-24-2003, 12:30 PM Good point Bryan. That intial 600.00 does force the issue kind of : )
Anyway, when is the next race for Hobby World? Friday Jan 9th? Or can we get a Sunday in at all? The way its looking, we aren't getting much track time in for Snowbirds. Mmmmm... snooowbirrdsss.... :)
GeorgiaFordFan 12-24-2003, 12:34 PM I for one don't care if ROAR membership costs $100.00 per year. If that is what is required to race I will pay it and be happy we have a place to race whenever we can. Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope Santa is good to all my R/C friends.
If ya ain't cheatin' ya ain't tryin'
rcovalracer 12-24-2003, 01:01 PM Do you guys have plaques or trophy's at the Friday night races?
I have heard of 2 magazines to get a roar membership, one was r/c car,and RCXtreme, which is it? About as confused as your guys schedule this past month, until I called HW,best way to get the right answer for the schedule..http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/happy/xyxthumbs.gif
Does HW carry Hyperdrive parts and associated parts? Are they available if I brake something race night?
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEARhttp://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/xmas/wbaum3.gif
shawnleary 12-24-2003, 01:17 PM I bought the October issue of Xtreme RC magazine. The form is in the back. I had to order the issue from Xtreme RC website and it took almost two months to get to me. Not sure if the current issues have the ROAR membership form. I heard that they don't.
Hobby World isn't open during the races.
jmeadows 12-24-2003, 01:46 PM I just picked up the January issue last week, and it does have the application in it.

shawnleary 12-24-2003, 06:38 PM Shannon rocks.... and tech his car next race, with a signature like that ;)
David Butts 12-24-2003, 08:34 PM Santa brought me some batteries. The elves must have some old matching equipment because these have 20 amp #'s on'em. I just compared them to some of my best old 1700 scr's and whew are those 3300's numbers better than the best you could buy in 94 or 95 at any price.
Now lets see should I make them four cells for the oval or six cells for the touring car? Six cells for the oval car and hide two of'em ? decisions decisions. Hey now I have some spare money for that roar membership. Woo hoo!
irvan36mm 12-24-2003, 11:42 PM Shannon rocks.... and tech his car next race, with a signature like that ;)
HAHA! I tried to find something last time we raced, but didn't. Maybe I'm trying to find that pocket knife on his car that he used for weight! lol

GeorgiaFordFan 12-27-2003, 11:47 AM Shawn I'll be there. What time will it start?
BullFrog 12-27-2003, 12:29 PM I would think you would need ROAR membership to race on Sundays. Probably not this Sunday as they said starting January. But Check with Hobbyworld!
shawnleary 12-27-2003, 12:56 PM I've heard 130pm. What classes are we running?
shawnleary 12-27-2003, 12:58 PM No ROAR until next year right?
David Butts 12-27-2003, 05:27 PM No roar officially till the first race in "04". I picked up my application today(thanks Bill) and it'll be in the mail monday. I'm planning to show up tomorrow but as of right now it looks like left turns only for me. Anyone up for 4c stock? If not I can probably borrow a 19t. I can only race one class at a time and I just found some cracked front end parts on the TC3. would those be buttscracked?
David Butts 12-27-2003, 05:28 PM I've heard 130pm. What classes are we running? I too believe that racing is supposed to start at 1:30.The store opens at 12:00 so I'd hope the gate will be open a little beforehand.
tnt racing 12-27-2003, 08:46 PM Good thing about running on sundays the parts store is open.We all know i might need some.
