Thanks Dave P. and Phil. I'm looking forward to it. The soonest I can get there is wed after work, will be at the Ramada. Hopefully I will have enough time to get dialed in before and during the club races.

FYI on the Bird 4-cell stock, club race rules aren't definite just yet. Mike's reply to my question was that they might use the hand-outs since they are handing them out earlier. He said the club race rules will be sent out with the confirmation letters.

Have you disussed this with the mgmt. of HW face to face? Or just spouting off on the forum? Sounds like to me they were thinking about those little cahonees of yours and not wanting them to be frozen by the time you got home to the wife. I for one do not have any complaint with their decision. As for Sunday.... was this discussed with HW?

It don't take much to dial a phone # and ask for Don or Greg.

i did ask the question in the store today to Dave rook and greg was right there. all I got was a don't know. also for those that don't know Greg reads these boards everyday he just chooses not post. as for the reason of the race cancellation I was told weather was not a factor. John couldmn't make it down.

I guess that I am just a freak I like to know how what and when on everything that I do. what i mean is like to know when I am supossed to race like a schedule. it would really be nice. I know that alot of people get dicouraged when they show up and there is no race because the word wasn't put out. and that is what they don't do as for the schedule nobody knows what is going on.

you guys might think is funny but I care alot about racing. I t is getting old racing against the same five guys. don't get me wrong i love it but it gets old and doesn't help me grow as a racer. and when you have place like we do that has fresh pavement it could be one hell of a place to race. I just wish the people up front would show a little more concern for the track and the racing i could really draw a crowd with the right push behind it.

I agree with you Dave. I too would like to see a schedule that is non waivering with the exception of weather issues. Today would be a beautiful day to be at the track and I just may go over there later. P.S, I didnt hit the lottery lastnight so I still dont have the wherewithall to build the mega facility we've all dreamed of at one time or another. Sometimes dreams turn into nightmares anyway.

Dave, I don't think its funny. I'm frustrated as well. It seems like the owners want to run a hobby store and not a track. Nothing wrong with that, I appreciate a place to run and the recent improvements they've made happen. But they are obviously hands-off when it comes to running the races and promoting, leaving that to John and the rest of us. You should be talking to John Hart, he's the man.

My suggestion would be this. You guys, Dave and John, should run a 'once a month' Saturday race at HW in conjuction with your 'once a month' rug race. You two seem pretty proactive and could make it happen. Adding it to your once a month carpet, you could really bring people out. Building a dedicated Saturday following leads to permanent indoor rug action. Of course you would have to add an A to FCCAR. ;) Seriously think about it. All you need is a transponder system, the track is sitting there idle every saturday and sunday. No lights needed or space heaters. No rolling out and taping carpet. I haven't the slightest idea why the owners wouldn't want more business brought in.

See-ya guys next year sometime, hopefully before I forget how to turn left. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

You guys kill me sometimes,I was asked to put a poll on the thread for day racing during the winter months, guess what the majority voted to race during the day. But no we had to have a vote amongst 10 racers on a friday night when most of the regulars were out of town,As far as I am concerned you all can freeze your azzzs off and tear up your cars racing on ice. But dont get on this thread and belly ache about whaata, coulda, and shouda.YOU all had the opportunity to make a change during the winter months that was already pre-approved through John and HOBBY WORLD, YOU ALL DID NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!!!!!!!!!!

just to stick my nose in this part- I know where there is a complete transponder system sitting in my garage ( the current stuff). Ya'll forgot all those new drivers that are going to be experiencing the cold nights in a few weeks.Couldn't you guys even have a frequency board and use one- especially with the newbies coming.............

David Butts
12-21-2003, 02:02 PM
Yeah I hear ya Phil. I was there just to vote on that friday night and since Dave P couldnt be there I proxy voted for him too. I voted for sundays as you know I did but the prevailing vote as you mentioned by the people that were there on that friday night voted to keep it that way.

I just want to play with my little cars and rub some fenders but apparently the momentum that was gaining just a couple of months ago towards more racing has now trickled down to almost none again. With the snowbirds rapidly closing the guys that are planning on racing need all the transmitter time they can get carpet or asphalt.

My driveway and my street are both kinda boring to just run up and down but thats all I've been able to do lately.

Just think of the sales tool racing today would've been for the store since it's the last sunday before christmas and some people are getting that desparate look in their eyes as they ponder on what to get that hard to buy for relative or friend. Cha ching$$$$$$$

you guys realy kill me! daytona doesn't have one single track! indoors or outdoors! i have to travel an hour and a half to race either in j ville or orlando..or 3 hours to tampa! you posers have 2 great tracks in your own damn back yard! i dont understand the hobby world deal? they spend some money to repave a track they dont care about? wow!

and half of you snot nosed kids missed a great race on the carpet this month? now you all are wanting to race? and here is the kicker..THE REGULAR GROUP OF RACERS IS ......THE GUYS FROM OUT OF TOWN! LOL PHIL,DON,TIM,MYSELF,RICH,RONNY,mike bean, joe malin.. now that is a problem! regular are usualy the guys who live 25 minutes away or less?

you all need to take control of hobby world. stop asking for permission on deaf ears.. print up a a schedule and stick to it. 3 months a year you run on sunday day, the other 9 months run on friday nights. some time inbetween all of that throw in a few " special races". you have some holidays like the 4th of july and labor day to maybe have some sort of trophy race or something? all this bickering is turning away the new guys. dave P call shawn and print out a schedule for the entire year. post it in the hobby shop and pass it out to everyone you can find..than post it on here as well! this way you all will never again ask what day "we" are racing this weekend! fccr posted there yearly schedule so can hobby world. throw in 2 or 3 cool races at hobby world maybe on a sunday during the warmer months and some more out of towners will show..heck get with mike boylan and try and run a GT bray VS hobby world type race? pretend hobby world is your track and you get to make the schedule for it? too easy! p.s have a merry christmas fellas lets start 04 off the right way! please...

oh yeah in case anyone is interested i am selling both of my oval cars in preperation of my new oval car for the birds. you have seen them both run and you know there in good shape. one comes with a body and all my spare parts for 200.00 that is my 19 turn car..the other is a complete rolerr including ceramic rear bearing for 150.00 that was my stock car..any questions wsell@cfl.rr.com

Wade I believe that they are going to try to race again this Sunday,The last I heard they were going to race every other Sunday,But who knows the Racing rules and racing schedule change in Jax more than some people change their socks!!! Maybe over time someone perhaps management will make a schedule that would not only be more profitable for the store and better for the racers especially during the winter months. Anyway I guess most have to guess when racing is ???? :D

from what I understand we are dealing with a "this is how it is done if you don't like it tough" attitude. it is just a shame that the largest hobby shop in Jacksonville has the funds and resources to have a world class facility but choices to keep there hands clean. don't get me wrong they (hw) do some cool things (raffle) but that is it. I have tried to talk to the management once but got the cold shoulder about the track. looks like we are stuck with what we got.

As for FCCR taking over the race program @ HW. Nice idea but no thanks. I like running the races at the carpet track but if someone else wanted to do it I would step away from the mic. it would give me alot more time to do the stuff to my cars that is required after a run. which right now I just change the battery. Running the show isn't in my and Johns best intrest.

if you want it straight from me this is it.
1. the racers shouldn't have been given a choice on the Sunday thing. It only makes sense to run on sundays in the winter because of the cold. if you go out to HW on a friday night you will always see the same 10 guys plus a few other faces time to time. these are the 10 guys that voted on friday night because that is what they like it is a habbit to them. they failed to look at the advantages of running on sundays for the winter months which are
1 hobby shop is open
2 it is warmer
3 more people watching (possiable new racers?)
4 attrach some fast guys from out of town
5 no lights needed
6 the way that the holidays fall we miss some races

2 the hobby shop needs to take charge of there race track. set a schedule and stick to it. buy a newer style lap counter(so we can run personals) and provide someone that can run it everytime. I like the John hart alot and think he does a great job but there are times when he has things going on that makes it impossiable to come down. that is why HW needs there own system and somebody to run it.

i hope this doesn't piss a bunch of people off just need to speak my mind in the hopes of making things better in the long run.

Well first off merry christmas guys i havent been on in a while ... second off everyone on here expressing there concerns over the track i dont understand it hobby world has been open over 25 years friday nights have been it for i dont know how long everyone saying they dont know the race schedule is wrong as for adding sundays im all for it all you have to do is get people to show up and get someone to run it... We have tried racing sundays before and no one showed up.. for all purposes i have talked to john and he says he will come down so now all you have to do is figure a schedule and get people to show up... i do understand his part as well why drive and hour for 12 people to show up and have to drive back ... as for the transponder system and someone to run it.. again im down for it all you have to do is come up with the required moneys for it and im sure hobby world would be more than glad to use it... You guy dont seem to understand how much money went into a track that doesnt make a killin especially after the money dropped for the new track if you wanna race cool if you dont no one is forcing you to come out.. im not sayin anything but be thankful of what you got now and what they have done yea i am an employee but i see both sides not just one ... you have a track there use it and stop the belly aching about everything if ya wanna start a winter series do it NONE of the management said no... and now that thats said happy holidays and see ya at the track

for reasons that will take to long to explain Bill is out of the question. and to some up what Rook is saying HW is all for it but they aren't going to run it. now it is up to us the racer to show up. John has said that he will come down if people show

to take a set back for a minute form HW. we at FCCR think things are going pretty well. we haved changed our way at looking at things. we just want everybody to have a good time. that is why you haven't been getting alot of flack from us about rules. Hey they make a new motor and people want to run them ok. quad mag motors are in for stock. adjustable 19t's. cool so alot of what FCCR is doing is realated to what the racers want but we still keep our hand in there so it doesn't get out of control. in the end it to me it all comes down to having fun and everybody getting better each time they hit the track . so if we follow what they said then there will be a race this Sunday don't quote me on that. somebody has to talk to John Hart about it then post it.

shawnleary

What do you all mean "the ones who are crying", this whole thread is a bunch of cry babies. Me included, that's the point. Its a place to speak your minds, opinions, bench race, and hope things get better for everyone.

Dave, I didn't suggest FCCR taking over the "racing program" at Hobby World, I DID however, challenge you to do a better job on Saturdays or Sundays. Do it. Like ROOK said, "all you have to do is get people to show up and get someone to run it..." What's stopping you guys from running a good race once a month there inconjuction with your one a month Carpet?

And since we are all griping, I've been at Hobby World now for almost two years, and there are no "regulars" at Hobby World newer than me. What does that say? And now that we are ROAR new people can count on paying 30 dollars the first two times they come out.

You Dont Have To Eat Roar Dukie,hw Is Doing This For The Insurance Roar Offers Commen Sense Will Tell You That!!!!!you Do Not Have To Run Roar Rules On A Local Level.

Echeconnee
12-22-2003, 10:19 PM
HW would be better served aquiring their own insurance outside of ROAR. I would much rather deal with an agent I could talk to in my city who is willing to explain my coverage in depth. Try getting that from ROAR. Besides there are a heap of folks that don't want to support ROAR financially or in any other manner for that matter, myself included

davepull

Deo is exactly right ROAR IS A GOOD THING. and at the local level you don't need to follow there rules and anybody who won't race just because of ROAR IS FOOLISH. weather you pay 30 bucks to a private or to ROAR what is the difference when there rules aren't followed. I don't want to sound like I think that ROAR is the best thing since sliced bread because it isn't but in Florida you need it to race at most tracks.

Echeconnee
12-22-2003, 10:30 PM
Hey, I have been there as a racer and a track owner. Been dealing with ROAR since 89. Do what you will but you will see a decline in your racers and you will get enough of ROAR in a hurry. They barely know what oval racing is.......

davepull
12-22-2003, 10:34 PM
that is why you just don't follow there rules you use them as a guide line and change what you don't like about them.

I have raced at alot of ROAR tracks up in New England and let me tell yah they do what they want up there and only follow the rules at the races they have to like regionals or nationals.

Echeconnee
12-22-2003, 10:40 PM
The rules really have nothing to do with it on a local level but on the national level it has everything to do with it as far as new product approvals and so forth. Do you know how many rule changes and retractions have taken place concerning oval racing rules within ROAR in the past two months. And how many of these changes were voted on by members? In case you don't know, the answer is none! Frankly it doesn't matter to me what you do. I wanted to bring some of the guys down to race and have a good time but we won't be lining ROAR's pocket to do it.

davepull
12-22-2003, 10:44 PM
I do believe that you would be making a mistake. the new track is just super fast. maybe bill can help me out on this one but I think that you can buy a one day race pass. and maybe the guys at HW will give a discount to those that do.
