shawnleary 11-26-2003, 12:52 PM Sounds good Phil, I wasn't looking forward to the 33 degree nights. It sounds like a good idea for everyone.
David Butts 11-27-2003, 09:48 AM Happy thanksgiving everyone. Please be safe on the roads over these next several days. I look forward to racing friday night if I get off work in time and can bear the traffic near the mall three times in the same day. I've posted my greetings on the fccr thread, the hw street spec thread and now here. I think I have everyone I know r/c wise covered now. Tootles!

davepull 11-29-2003, 07:13 PM I would like to say way to rain on my parade Earl great goob. to make along story short me and Todd both did 15.0 is the second qual and 20 lap runs Todd got the tq .006 of a sec over me well in the main Earl didn't just break into the 14 sec bracket he blew it away with a couple of 14.8's man he was fast
Congrats to Tom Marlow 6.9 lap time and just about a 34 lap run. great job
David Butts 11-30-2003, 10:45 AM Dang it dudes! With the rain here in O.P. and the quickly dropping temps I didnt think the track would've been runable but sounds like you guys were ripping it up. Was anything brought up about the switch to sundays?
I spent all day(7 hours worth)saturday walking the swap meet at the turkey run in daytona and my legs almost dont work now or I might stop by the track today.
shawnleary 12-01-2003, 12:23 PM Here is a pic of the new track surface and course layout.

The poll looks pretty even between Sat and Sun. A few I spoke to that are not on Hobby Talk seem to favor Sat, saying Sunday is a family day for them. Should be an interesting vote. If we pick Saturday, maybe we could not run points the days Carpet is running so that we could all get along-island-ice-tea.
c-ya's Friday.
katf1sh 12-01-2003, 05:04 PM i was thinking of myself when i picked saturday..but i soon realized sat would kill any chance my good friend dan mclinton would have of racing at all..so if it came to that i would rather see it stay friday nights..now i feel like a real heal..even if i was one before!
irvan36mm 12-02-2003, 12:02 AM i was thinking of myself when i picked saturday..but i soon realized sat would kill any chance my good friend dan mclinton would have of racing at all..so if it came to that i would rather see it stay friday nights..now i feel like a real heal..even if i was one before!
Fish- We must be eating at the same Philly Connection! lol I was thinking the same when I cast my vote for Sundays. There's a bunch of good racers @ HW such as Dan that have been racing here for a long time but can only make it out on Friday nights & wouldn't be able to make it on any other day 'cause of work or other commitments (family, church action,honey-do's,TV sports (lol),etc)-even if it's for a couple of months! A few of us that race on Friday nights have also practiced on (not every) Saturdays and/or Sundays, but only stayed for a couple of hours. They wouldn't be able to stay for the length of a whole race day. I would have to reconsider my vote & change it to Friday nights and will do so when we have our driver's meeting before this Friday's race (weather permitting,of course,but....Welcome to Florida & our goofy weather! lol) !

katf1sh 12-02-2003, 06:13 PM george i talked to dan and he does have sundays off..so sundays will not be a problem for him.. hope this info helps.. peace

BullFrog 12-05-2003, 01:10 PM The weather man says were supposed to have some sun shine this afternoon? Sure haven't seen any.
shawnleary 12-06-2003, 11:50 AM How did the vote turn out? I was too busy finding out that shortening my reciever wire is not a good thing. I heard something about a couple of weekend days?
Good night last night. George opened up a can of
David Butts 12-06-2003, 04:59 PM Shawn, heres what I understand.
The diehards that were at the track lastnight(brr!) voted to keep the racing on friday nights but it was apparently ok'd to run every other sunday afternoon too starting next sunday the 14th. Its only an experiment but can you believe that not too long ago there was hardly any racing going on around here now hobby world will have races every friday night and every other sunday afternoon too.
Come on out of towners we're gonna have us some day time racing at the largest track around these parts. Thats oval and touring cars too. Maybe even some brave souls with twelfth scalers will show up. Rook says the road course is going to be reconfigured soon also.
Carpet once a month and asphalt six times and theres a new off road track too? Oh my where will all my spare cash go now? As for me? see everyone on the 14th.
bigdon18 12-06-2003, 08:48 PM it was good to see dave drop in on the rug action,, hope he can get some fuzz on his car soon,,,, and maybe i can make it back down to get some asphlat action.

DEO RACING 12-06-2003, 08:50 PM Just want to ask why none of you hobby world racers are not supporting the carpet racing ,when just out of towners are showing up,that is a shame :(

irvan36mm 12-06-2003, 10:33 PM The "HW sub-6 Club" list was updated on Friday 12/5/03:
HW SUB-6 CLUB
11/21/03: 6.9 DELBERT HILL
11/28/03: 6.9 TOM MARLOWE
12/05/03: 6.9 JOHN HART (2 LAPS)
Congrats to John for scoring 2 6.9 second laps in the 19 turn mains! Also scored a time of 34/4:03.05. Not sure if it broke the present HW record or not.
-George
Hank80 12-06-2003, 10:45 PM Come on guys, lets keep the rug actions going also. Had a blast to day on the rug. Need to get more support from everyone who runs at HW also, come on whatda say? Why not run both?
Henry
DEO RACING 12-06-2003, 10:47 PM 19t record is 34-4.02
shawnleary 12-07-2003, 11:40 AM George, I think we need to start 7.2 sec club for Spec, you are there buddy. Also George's track record is 32 4:07. Smokin. Imagine if you weren't using Spec brushes?? Dooooh!
DEO RACING 12-07-2003, 12:52 PM How many of you fellow hobby world racers plan on running next sunday the 14th? I hope their will be a good turn out due to warmer temperatures and a faster track during the day. congrats to George in spec sounds like he was burning it up!!! Will he run 19t in the near future or will he stay in spec we shall see  Hopefully everyone will show there appreciation to hw sunday by racing.
Phillip
David Butts 12-07-2003, 05:03 PM I for one am planning on racing sunday on the big oval again. I still have'nt put that brand new GT7 in the tc3 so it sits again. I just dont think I'll have the time to put it in either(procastination to the max) so its gonna be either 4cell stock or maybe I'll venture into the 19t drama thats unfolding.
Has anyone ever thought of reintroducing the banzai runs on the oval? Like any motor and 6 cell max battery to see just what the track will hold for two or four laps on the clock for an official lowest lap time/highest mph record? We have achieved lift off!
I'm wondering how many if any at all out of towners will make it on short notice too. I'm sure if Don and Tim pay their fines and stay out of jail they'll try to make it. 80 in a 55? ouch!
irvan36mm 12-07-2003, 06:14 PM How many of you fellow hobby world racers plan on running next sunday the 14th? Thanks Phil! I was planning to go to the carpet until I learned Fri night that I was gonna be the only Spec guy there. Seems to be a late change in plans w/the other 2 partners-in-crime,and they weren't gonna make it. I apologize if I let anybody down, especially Dave & John! I will be at HW on the 14th (just like every Sunday),hopefully all the other Spec guys can make it too! No more 19t for me! I've since sold my last two C2's a couple of weeks ago. Still waiting for a 6.9 lap from ya!

BryanW92 12-08-2003, 07:07 PM Hi,
I'm a newbie in this hobby. I've been driving a TC3 for a couple months, but no racing yet. I just can't seem to handle the road course without destroying the car.
I was at the track last week for some practice and saw Dan there with his oval car and realized what really wanted to race!
So, now I've got a new L4O and want to race street spec. I can't find a published set of rules anywhere, but from what I've read here, its a Spec motor, any gears, foam tires, no wing, and a 1600 6-cell battery pack. Is that right or did I miss something or did I just get something wrong?
I'm planning to be there on Friday night and again on Sunday for racing, if I can get this car ready by then.
A couple other questions:
Are the terms "spec motor" and "stock motor" interchangeable? If not, what's the difference?
What's a good set of gears to start with?
shawnleary 12-08-2003, 07:53 PM Hi Bryan,
We run Pro-Spec, open chassis (so you can use your L4), Spec Motor, S-Brushes (copper and silver twist), Spec Tires, Spec Battery, and we can use a Wing, and you can cut the back out of your car if so choose.
Click on the link below, I've posted the rules we run by. I also post all the time sheets and points standings as well as track records.
Gearing should be around 1:3.1 or so. I run a 100/32 or 120/38 same ratio. Some people are higher and lower, but that is a good place to start. Its a very fast class so hold on tight.
Spec motor is 21 turn and Stock motors are 27 turn. Not interchangable.
I suggest some battery cups that they sell at Hobby World in order to hold your packs. No sticky taping all the time. Get with any of us trackside and we will help you out. George, jason, rob, stoney, tom, joe, all are good guys and will be glad to help ya.
see ya Friday.
shawnleary 12-08-2003, 07:56 PM Is it going to be 15 during the day or will it be less since we aren't using the lights??? Anyone know?
Ga. Ford Fan, David, are you guys going Sunday?? racing 4-cell stock?? anybody else running 4-cell stock on Sunday??
This will be the last weekend I race till after the 1st of the year, Have 3 choices in tracks to go to :) Glad to see Oval alive and kicking
Wade
David Butts 12-09-2003, 07:45 AM Wade and everyone else. I'll run stock if enough people show. If not I can get ahold of an 19t and run that too. This being the first sunday race on short notice theres no way to forecast how many racers will show. Weather permitting I'll be there.
It looks as if the next day race will be the 28th and just after christmas that may be a slow day too. I'm looking forward to it. remember guys there is limited a/c power at the track so if you have a quiet generator bring it and an extension cord. A long one.
Echeconnee 12-09-2003, 07:48 AM are there pictures of this track anywhere?
irvan36mm 12-09-2003, 09:09 AM are there pictures of this track anywhere?
Echo...- Jump back to page 73 of this thread & scroll down about 19 posts till you see it! The pic looks like it's a tri-oval,but it's not. Just a regular oval track.

bigdon18 12-09-2003, 09:20 AM man yall make want to come and run bad,, i tried to talk the wife into us riding down and her mom watching the kids,,,,,,then i was reminded of the election donation she has to pay for me,,,, but hey i try agian.
BIGDON
David No such thing as a quiet generator :p Long extension cords yes quiet generator no!!
Wade
David Butts 12-09-2003, 11:48 AM Yeah I know a quiet generator is an oxymoron but its a wish. I just wanted to let everyone who reads this site but may not have been to H/W before to be forewarned of the lack of ac outlets unless you get there early enough to pit on the back wall. I remeber years ago there was a guy that had an unmuffled briggs and stratton powered generator and even the neighbors complained. BLLAAAAAAHHHHHH!
My big truck broke down today so now I have time to work on my little cars out in the garage. Who knows I may even get to put that new esc in the TC3  . Also there is still friday night to think about too. one weather forecast is calling for deteriorating conditions as the weekend gets closer. Boo hoo
David Butts 12-09-2003, 11:53 AM are there pictures of this track anywhere?
Is there a name to go along with that Echeconnee? Also H/w is a big track. Its a 370 or so feet mid track. Dont you also run nitro at your track? Ifso bring a car or two as I'd like to see how they run there. And yes nitro cars are allowed during the day at the track just no racing as of yet.
David Butts 12-09-2003, 11:54 AM Hi George.
shawnleary 12-09-2003, 12:55 PM Click on the link below and then click on photos. I've got an up to date picture of the entire track.
irvan36mm 12-09-2003, 01:07 PM Hi George.
Hey,Butts! Slow day around here!
