quick, where is it from 10East. Lake City??What tires?

David Butts
11-21-2003, 05:27 PM
I-10 east to I-295 south. 103rd street exit(old exit number 5) then right or west a block and a half. turn right just past the dairy queen sign. Tracks behind the hobby shop.

rcovalracer. Got your pm and I guess I could've tried to answer your other question too. As far as tires go. Bring what you have. Most of the fast 19t guys are running combinations of hard and harder. The spec guys all have to run spec tires so its a combination of blues, greens and oranges. The other oval classes, of which 4 cell stock is a realitively new class to hobby world will run the same open tire rules as 19t mod. I hear of pinks, reds, purples and blacks with a liitle gray and some whites thrown in for good measure. Like I said. Bring what you have

spec use green or blue in rear, blues up front.

Well the wifey is telling me I need to get out of here and do something so I guess I'll go race. See y'all at the track!

Fellers I had a blast at the old(new)track lastnight. It was really good to see so many out of area drivers for the first time in a long while. Some good people are showing up there as I predicted when the track work started. Word of mouth will get around and the racing will only get larger.

Four cell stock was a fun class to be in and I think it can grow right along with the other classes as well. My car was a turtle compared to almost all the other ones but I still ran 29 laps. That was the first time I had placed an oval car on that track since 1995 and it was almost like a homecoming in a strange way. Unfortunately with my job I wont be able to race every friday night so the points deally is a moot point for me.

The dirt around the track really poses a problem for turn marshalls as far as keeping it off the track when marshalling. It is impossible to do and it sure would be nice if someone would hit the lottery and spring for some concrete work like a walkway all the way around the place.

Records? I think all the track records were reset lastnight. Malin got two and Phil got one but I'm unsure of the touring cars.

I put a ton of gear on my stock car and I really think with some better batteries it'll pull more. I had a 40/100 combo in the main with uncut tires and I turned my best laptimes that way. 8.1 was my best for the night but I believe Joe mama and Wade L. both ran some 7.8's or 7.9's in stock and that my friends is getting around there. Now about those 19t guys. Eeks! They were cruising. I think 6.7's are on the way. Especially when everyone starts running the new motors. I'm gonna have to get me some of them thangs and some cells to push them with. As always "keep it off the pipes"

like to say that i had a good time last night, really liked see people i havent seen in awhile that was a blast and the racing was great even tho i had a few bumps during the night but all in all i think HW is turning in the right direction. man is the track is sweet ,,, smooth and fast. the cars are flying around there,, but its so smooth it looks like they are slower to me ,, because before when you was fast the car was dancing around everywhere and pulling wheelies down the backshute. but the lap times are saying it all ,,,,,, wow,, stock doing the old 19t times and 19t in the high 6 and low 7 range,, with a little heat and more rubber layed down i see some 6.7s coming.. and maybe more lower time will tell.

Had a Blast!!! Didnt get home till 3 am but that was ok actually had to stop and take a catnap in Lake City.

Track was smooth, program was run smooth also.
Lights were better heard there were more on the way, cant have enough lights for me ...eyes going away ...Amber glasses do help though

Whupped up on Joe in the 1st Q and I think I made him mad!!
after that I chased him all night . We both ran some 7.7s and a couple 7.6s
4-cell stock was plenty fast on the track with some good side by side racing even thru the turns. hope the class starts to grow at HW

Friday nights are tough for me to get off all the time but I will certainly try to make the trip more often

You're right BigDon, they do look slower since there isn't the bumps. No more spontaneous lift-off in the back straight :) Great to see the out-of-towners.
David, I hope you are right, winter is usually a little slack, would be nice to see it pick up more. Friday was only the second time I've seen seperated qualifiers for spec since I started a year and a half ago.

Dave,You are correct on that. Way back when we run on the dirt we changed to weekend racing during the day to avoid the cold and all that dew falling every where. Why doesnt some one bring that up to JOHN HART and see what he says, doesnt hurt to ask!. Besides I would be willing to bet the particpation would really pick up.John use to run every sat. at first coast so why not.

sounds like there could be enough people to do both days. who's got an extra transponder system laying around. i doubt the owners would have a problem with it. no lights would be used, plus it would increase business for them.

Count me in for Sundays. I ran for the first time ever and ran in Pro Spec on Friday nite and it was great. I didnt realize how addicting it is. Already trying to figure out how to get more out of my car. I came off of the stand after driving and it was such a rush...just cant wait to get back again. Unfortunately because of Thanksgiving I cant make it Friday. Just gives me some more time to get the car setup for next time tho...Well, Happy Thanksgiving to all -Robert-

first off who cares about football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry ass Jagaurs. Sun would be absolutely perfect. it would allow more races from out of town to come and also it would not interfer with the carpet. plus some of the guys that race carpet might just stay the night and race the next day. I also think about the cold. when it gets past ten pm the temp really drops. plus I don't like to pay 15 dollars to race on a damp track. it sucks.

Every one that can should be at the track friday night. If enough people show there will be racing as discussed last friday night. It looks like the switch to sunday is going to happen for the cooler months like december and january, maybe february too. Living in florida is cool. Are there any R/C snow plows made for up north? all you out of towners get ready. we're gonna race in the day time. Woo hoo!

Are we going to add the votes of everyone who isn't on HobbyTalk? Phil or someone, write down all of the out of towner votes and give them to John so that we can vote on it Friday. I honestly don't care what day we race, I just think it would be unfair to decide Sunday without everyone's input. Especially since the point series has already started.

I say Saturdays,so if you are out of town like me and you work Fridays you can make it to the track Saturday. Not to many tracks race on Saturdays in our area. South GA, North Fl...Most all of the tracks run on Sundays..

Shawn dont worry, John just asked me to do a poll so he could show Greg that ther would be a commitment from the local racers to support racing during the winter months if he was to switch to day racing through feb.I know he plans on holding a drivers meeting also.Keep in mind hw has spent alot of money so we racers have a place to race,it is thought also by doing this hw sales should increase from the racers and also the spectaters dropping by. Nothing will change if the racers do not want it,it looks to me that the majority so far would like to race in warmer and dryer weather, besides this is only for three months!!
