DEO RACING 10-15-2003, 09:38 PM Hey Dave, do you have your body cut out correctly!!!!!!! David Butts 10-17-2003, 06:23 PM Hey Dave, do you have your body cut out correctly!!!!!!! It all depends on how it runs. Real fast and I'm cheatin. Pig slow and its just right. red201 10-20-2003, 12:14 PM Any One Know When The First Race On The New Surface Will Be? David Butts 10-21-2003, 05:02 PM Still dont know. I spoke with Don on sunday and they werent able to get the trencher but were supposed to early this week. No word here on when the new records will start. Regretfully if it gets done by this friday I wont be able to race anyway as I have to get up very early saturday morning to leave for a car show in Kissimmee. Hey big cars are fun too! David Butts 10-22-2003, 10:02 AM I spoke with Dave Kennedy at the store over(get this)the phone yesterday and he says the earliest they can get the trencher now is this weekend so no racing this friday either. Several people have worked on the pit area by the old consession stand so far and theres still quite a bit of other things that can be done to spiff up the old place. I may take the weedeater over tomorrow and trim some around the place since the big tractor mower cant get everywhere. Its taken longer than some expected to get back to racing but it will be soon forgotten with the first starting beep. After two consecutive rug races which are a total blast I cant wait to hit the big track for a little big oval and touring car action. and as far as I know still no one has even placed a car on the track for a test drive. Hmmmmm? It sure would be nice if some concrete company donated a side walk all the way around the track. It'd make turn mashalling especially on the north end of the track so much safer. Just in case anyones ever wondered just how big the oval is, it's right at a scale 7 tenths mile track. Anyone with an accutrak or other stopwatch with mph capability just enter .070 as the track length. bigdon18 10-22-2003, 10:22 AM so does that mean in 14.285 of laps we would have gone a mile  that makes it a two mile race  . BIGDON David Butts 10-22-2003, 02:48 PM so does that mean in 14.285 of laps we would have gone a mile  that makes it a two mile race  . BIGDON Whoa! Big Dons got him one of dem dare calcumalaters. Or in the immortal words of Ed McMahon. You are correct sir Yesss! To put it into measured distance by time, if you ran 30 laps in exactly 4 minutes you would have covered 1.05 mile in 2 minutes or .525 mile in one minute requiring an average of 31.5 mph per lap to get there. Yikes! I've got way too much time on my hands. bigdon18 10-22-2003, 03:24 PM David, now its time to figure the on road section lay out distance,,,,,, now you dont have no more time on your hands.... BIGDON,, THE BADGUY,,,,,,,"SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND" katf1sh 10-22-2003, 05:04 PM dont forget about the florida state series race this weekend in sunny edgewater florida (my home town) just south of daytona. 4 cell 19 turn oval and all the regular on road bull shizznit also! big flat smoooooth oval! wooooooooooooooooooo sat and sunday ... David Butts 10-22-2003, 06:23 PM Hey Katf1sh where would that be coming east on I4 ? I'll be coming home from a car show in kissimmee about 0900 sunday morning and I may just have to swing by a take a look see. Isnt edgewater only an exit or two south of the I4/sr400 interchange? bigdon18 10-22-2003, 07:29 PM kat,,, man you should have spread the news alittle ealier on that race, would have liked to make it,, daytona and racing is a good thing. put it in the wind.. BIGDON katf1sh 10-22-2003, 10:57 PM DAVE edgewater is 3 exits south of daytonas..you have daytona, port orange, new smyrna beach than edgewater about 15 miles south of daytona..get off the edgewater exit head east your second left is ours..the track is located about 2 1/2 miles down the road..on the left.airpark road i think is the name of the road..stop by i'll pretend to say hi to ya! lol  bjessee 10-23-2003, 06:15 AM katfish, I am a touring car driver, I was wondering is this race carpet or asphalt, is it smooth or rough, do you have to preregister, do you have to attend both days?? thanks bjessee irvan36mm 10-23-2003, 07:15 AM .........and as far as I know still no one has even placed a car on the track for a test drive. Hmmmmm? It sure would be nice if some concrete company donated a side walk all the way around the track. It'd make turn mashalling especially on the north end of the track so much safer. Butts- I (along w/the other guys!) have actually thought about bringing our cars on the last 2 Sundays that we were working there, but there was soooo much to be done. A concrete sidewalk would be cool, too. Anybody got concrete???lol -George BullFrog 10-23-2003, 07:21 AM You don't have to pre-enter. It's smooth asphalt. Saturdays you have two qualifiers and Sunday you have one and the mains.Touring cars also have specific tires that you have to use.I beileve they are 20.00 a set for C27s pre-mounted.There is no food at the track.go to FSEARA.com for directions and map. :) katf1sh 10-23-2003, 05:20 PM jessee...it's one of the smoothest surfaces you can race on outdoors..the weather looks great so even if you dont want the expense of having to buy tires for the race, you want to come down and watch on saturday or sunday? maybe someone will bend the rules a bit and a few fellow racers i know could hook you up with a couple pairs of used hand out tires? also there is one round of qualifing on sunday morning and the mains are run on sunday..i think you could come down sunday and race if you cant afford a hotel room? the track is awesome..very well prepped lots of sugar water and laid out very nicely..everyone who races the series is very helpful and will do whatever to get you up to speed..if you stop by or plan to race stop by our tent and say hello..it wont take you more than 2 seconds to find me! lol oh yeah and you need to have a roar membership..you can purchase a single event pass at the track or the full blown year pass...10.00 1 weekend or 30.00 for the year.. WOW! after typing everything required to eneter one state race..i kinda feel bad.. entry is 20.00 2 sets of tires 40.00 roar entry 10.00 - 30.00 hotel 40.00 + my wallet is starting to hurt...lol well at least oval is 20.00 plus roar membership? love dem foam tires... got carpet? davepull 10-23-2003, 05:41 PM Sounds great but I have family in town and the babies baptism on sunday. tell all the state touring guys that there beating is coming. I'll make it to one of them soo. ha ha JK katf1sh 10-23-2003, 06:20 PM dave i'll try and post the new schedule for next year so you on road nerds can attend some races? no more oval with on road..we will both have our own series from here on out! this will be good for everyone involved.. BullFrog 10-23-2003, 07:17 PM The single event for roar is $15.00 not 10.00. It hasn't been ten in two years. bjessee 10-23-2003, 07:33 PM katfish, thanks for the info, I have offroad on sunday, and i will be helping put hobbyworld back together saturday, I have a bookmark on the homepage for the racing, but would appreciate some advanced notice, just in case, bjessee BullFrog 10-23-2003, 08:35 PM The Florida State on-road and off-road web page is www.fseara.com The new schedule and rules will be discussed this weekend and posted later(on-road). katf1sh 10-23-2003, 09:41 PM not a problem jessee..when hobby world climbs back from the dead..they might want to try and bid on a state on road race for 05? would be cool to have a j ville state race once again? sorry bill..around here i only pay 10.00..you just have to shop around,lol..10.00 dollar no holler  BullFrog 10-23-2003, 10:38 PM Nice try....................... bjessee 10-24-2003, 06:31 AM no matter, you still fly around the track kat, i just can't play with you guys, you to fast for me, bjessee David Butts 10-24-2003, 09:12 PM Well people I hear the wiring and some other work will get done at the old place of race this weekend. As it may be I'll be out of town consuming mass quantities of Bud light in Kissimmee with my full size(the cars not the guys, well maybe a couple of us) car buddy's. Yes there is life outside of R/C but I'd never dream of putting the bumper to them as I would non intentionally to y'all. I am so looking forward to racing my little cars at the old venue once again as I'm sure alot of you are. I'm hoping that most of you havent cooled off with this extended cooling off period we've had. The racing will be intense and the rivalry's just as, I hope. and as allways, Keep it off the pipes! irvan36mm 10-27-2003, 08:35 AM DOH!!! :drunk: shawnleary 10-27-2003, 11:13 AM ne1 know when racing will start back up? Glad to see I didn't miss any races. :) David Butts 10-28-2003, 02:44 AM DOH!!! :drunk: Ok George. Where'd that picture go? irvan36mm 10-28-2003, 08:16 AM Butts- OK,here it is! If the weather is good I want to run a few laps this week sometime, probably Thursday night. irvan36mm 10-28-2003, 05:09 PM Shawn- Already beat you to the laps! lol The track pic w/ Pilgrim's 19-turn car was from Sun 10/27. The pits were from Sun 10/19. Pipes should be up this week???? Call Rook at HW for info. -George J.Filipow 10-28-2003, 05:20 PM So what is the story with Hobby World? Todd told me it has been repaved!? When will racing start back up and what is the (touring) schedule? David Butts 10-28-2003, 07:14 PM Butts- OK,here it is! BTW,did I tell ya how smooth the track is???? lol -George Dog gone it that car sure looks small and no George you didnt tell all of us how smooth the track is. Oh do tell, do tell. It has to be better than before or atleast that car wasnt airborne yet. stoneman 10-28-2003, 08:17 PM Well we did'nt get the wireing done this week. we decided to stop work and test the new surface.after all.all work and no play makes jack a dull boy :jest: irvan36mm 10-29-2003, 08:42 AM Butts- OK,I'll tell ya! It's so smooth that I thought that there's something wrong w/my car when it didn't bounce up-and-down in the turns & backstretch! lol -George davepull 10-29-2003, 06:49 PM hey guys I am selling my 12th scale car go to the on road swap to see it stoneman 10-30-2003, 08:50 PM we have been working hard triing to get everything done but we still need some help on saturday and sunday.we just found out that we have to dig the holes for the new poles by hand.so anyone willing to donate a even a few hours would be much appriciated. irvan36mm 10-31-2003, 08:13 AM Has anybody ever checked the price on renting a small gas-powered hole auger, maybe from Taylor Rentals or similar?? I have seen these before-it has an auger "bit"(?) w/a 2 or 4 cycle engine on top. Needs 2-4 people to hold on to it while in operation. Hmmmmmmmmmm! Would anybody like to pitch in some bling-bling to maybe rent one for the day??? -George rcovalracer 11-02-2003, 03:06 PM do you have 4 cell stock?? what are the classes?? what is the fee?? And how do I get there from Lake City, sounds like alot of fun,and I will proably bring some of the local oval racers from Branford RC Speedway,I know some have been there in the past and didn't like the track condition, and now it is repaved and smooth I am sure they will come...Thanks shawnleary 11-02-2003, 07:41 PM rcovalracer, for sure there are two classes. 4-cell 19t, and Pro-Spec (pan chassis, spec tires, spec battery {6-cell}, spec motor). It sounds like, when racing resumes, there will be some running 4-cell stock and a beginner "lock-spec" with spec chassis. The only thing for sure, that I know of, is the first two classes. About 10 guys run each of the first two religiously. Hopefully the other two classes mentioned will take off. The more the merrier. Fees, not positive on this one, but rumor is 15 a night. And ROAR membership will be required at the first of the year. Keep an eye on this thread to see when we will start running again on Friday nights. Look forward to seeing you trackside. cneyedog 11-02-2003, 08:56 PM hey guys .... whasssup ? .... I talked to Dan and he said the new hobby world surface is nice and smooth ...... whats the latest info? .... are you still going to race only on friday nights ? Rich David Butts 11-03-2003, 08:20 AM I'm up for a little four cell stock action when the track reopens and I'm able to race again. There are several others that have said they'd be up for it too. I for one feel it should be mandatory to offer the more mainline oval classes along with the spec or pro-spec classes at the track I.E. stock(4cell 27t), limited mod(4cell 19t),and possibly open mod(4cell any brushed motor) as thats what attracts outside area drivers and they already know of the rules or atleast most of them. I'll eventually move into the 19t class when I stock up on better batteries and motors but a little at a time is all I can do. I'm not against the spec class at all but you guys have to realize that even though another track may list a spec class that it may not be the same rules, therefore if someone ventures here their stuff may not be the same. As for Rich's question of are friday nights the only scheduled racing. Yes for now. Thats the one thing in my opinion that may hinder more out of town drivers from racing as they too have jobs and work till 4:00, 5:00 or 6:00 and just cant get up here or down here as the case may be and then race till 12:00 or later as we have before. Maybe once the racing gets going again and as the weather gets cooler the track management may want to experiment with some saturday or sunday afternoon(my vote) racing. Possibly as a special trophy race or some other type of award racing. Hmm? A winter sunday series would be fun  Once again I'd like to emphasize that I have absolutely nothing to do with scheduling, running or organizing the races at the h/w track these are just outside observations and or suggestions. bigdon18 11-03-2003, 11:23 AM some good suggestions there dave,, i agree. BIGDON pepe 11-03-2003, 01:19 PM If your going to run spec Arcor is probably your best bet, that will standardize your rules and classes pretty much. katf1sh 11-03-2003, 07:30 PM i would love to see at least one sunday "day" race a month. very hard to get off work and shower "i smell" and haul butt up to hobby world to play with you guys. but i will try once in awhile. i hate reading about phil this and phil that! lol dont forget race rock oval race this saturday in front of race rock orlando florida. DocQ68 11-03-2003, 07:36 PM Now some Sunday action would definately be great.... David Butts 11-04-2003, 07:22 PM Stopped by the old/new track today after work and somebody's been playing uh er practicing. There are quite a few tire tracks in the new asphalt and as mentioned in a previous post the pipes have been put back down in the their prior layout. It sure looks like a track again just still no new light poles or lights. According to Greg Swink, Tom(marshmello?)Marlowe was gettiing around there really good and that the tracks out by the wall were intentional(yeah right) to test the traction. He said even without the track being blown off or cleaned in any way since the repaving, Tom had no traction problems anywhere. Ooh boy there are gonna be some new records when we start racing again. cneyedog 11-04-2003, 08:29 PM sounds like the new surface will benefit everyone, smooooth and high bite surface.....now thats a racetrack woooooo! .... have fun!....and keep us in the loop if sunday afternoon (once a month or whatever) racing becomes a reality. :D irvan36mm 11-05-2003, 08:06 AM Stopped by the old/new track today after work and somebody's been playing uh er practicing. What's the track like as far as size, banking, etc. and lastly what types of tires are you using? This is oval right? Thanks And on another note: As you're looking as class structure, take a look at what ARCOR has to offer. They have recognized some classes for the average racer that have taken off quite well. They are economical and will get the drivers to turnout on raceday. www.arcor-rc.com vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
