hankster 10-03-2003, 09:48 PM I would suggest that part of this conversation be taken to email or on the ROAR topic on HobbyTalk as it has nothing to do with the topic of this discussion. I would think it could be solved better that way rather then clutter up a useful thread.
bigdon18 10-03-2003, 10:12 PM i like to get some pic of the new HW

bjessee 10-04-2003, 09:18 PM which one, the xxxs,
thanks
David Butts 10-04-2003, 10:23 PM Ok its now a done deal. I just finished testing my new oval car at Robert Livingston international speedway(my street)and for a four cell car it sure looks fast. My personal test track in no way reflects the actual race conditions at The world but it gives me a glimpse into the straight speeds and ride heighth settings(virgin chassis is virgin no more) come on 15th and 16th. I can hardly wait now. Stock or 19t is the only decision to be made now. Got my monte carlo body ordered and three cans o paint await. I think I'll change colors on this body and go with Flourescent yellow, pink and white instead of flourescent pink, yellow and white. Hey Rook let us know when the work party's start.
bjessee 10-05-2003, 03:26 AM Butts, you are silly, but I can agree with the new car high, I have had it many times, I think thats why I have some many cars.
bjessee 10-05-2003, 03:41 AM Rook, there is a amb 20 system for sale
on ebay, thanks
bjessee
GeorgiaFordFan 10-05-2003, 11:18 AM Anybody up for some 4 cell stock on the big track?
Dave, I will run some stock class with you guys, as long as we don't over load John. That class may be alot of fun with the track being freshly paved.
davepull 10-05-2003, 01:24 PM I stopped buy and checked it out. It looks great. should be fast with alot of grip.
A big Thank you goes out to Hobby World. I hope all the racers go in to the store and thank Don and Greg.
On to the Roar thing come on guys it isn't that big of a deal. pretty soon you'll need it to race in Jacksonville weather it be carpet dirt or asphalt.

Its strange but true. A couple of years ago rc racing in the Jacksonville area was almost on the verge of distinction. Now there are tracks for dirt, asphalt, carpet and concrete. Electric and nitro too. And several other tracks that are in the planning stages. With all the hype I sure wish all the bickering about this or that would cease. If all the energy wasted on arguing was put into lets see, Promoting the positives of the hobby we would have to have tracks that ran during the week because of the sheer number of racers that wanted to race.
As in the past when there were three different groups of racers many of which never raced with the other groups the hobby/sport didnt grow and continually dwindled. Now there are several places to race all of which welcome everyone and race many of the same classes so we all can benefit. remember to support your local hobby shop no matter which one it may be. Without the shops there are no parts and without the parts there are no races.

David Butts 10-06-2003, 10:29 PM Sites a little slow tonight fellers. Waaasssssuupppp? Everyone must be working on their rides with all the anticipated competition thats going to happen in a week and a half.
Lets see we'll have the innaugural race on the new surface at the world on friday the 17th then on the 18th the trophy rugmasters race will take place. Then all day sunday everyone will be scurrying to buy all the parts they broke in two days of racing so that they'll be ready for the next friday night race. Its a viscious circle that never ends. Arrgghh!
I just got finished putting a new wing together for the L4O and the front and rear suspensions have both been rebuilt. Come on body's. Cant race without'em and thats all I'm short now. Gonna have to get me some Buttsey decals made up for the quarter panels too. Maybe one for the hood that says "with a name like Buttsey it'd better be fast"
katf1sh 10-06-2003, 11:04 PM hey dave will HW have lights up and all next friday? may have to come up and give phil the door!
David Butts 10-07-2003, 07:12 AM hey dave will HW have lights up and all next friday? may have to come up and give phil the door!
The existing lights atleast have to be hooked back up because the wires were taken down to get the paving equipment on and off the track. There are plans to run the new underground wires and redo the lights before the opening on the 15th but time is getting short and the long range forecast is for rain later on in the week. Rook(chekmate) will be letting us know when we can start working on it here or by the old fashioned way. Face to face.
shawnleary 10-07-2003, 02:11 PM kat are you coming up Friday night for some Rug Warm-up action? Man I wish I could be there to see Malin Katfish and Phil battling.
katf1sh 10-07-2003, 02:44 PM i am thinking about running up there as long as i can see my car? lol i'll race at any quality track..now that it's paved i'm down for some night racing..i just hate getting there late and not getting in some practice. i may come up thursday night or some time that week to get in some prqactice? maybe i can meet george there or dave or someone?
Fl Flash 10-07-2003, 06:54 PM Big Don,
Heavy rain washed away my chances at getting pics of the track today  will try again tommorrow.
Lee,
Chekmate 10-07-2003, 08:42 PM Yeah guys im tryin to get everything setupo so we can start workin i got the wire i got the lights i need a trencher to cut through the old clay and some good old fashioned elbow grease ill try and let everyone know when were gonna work on it. Another thing you guys i an EMPLOYEE of hobby world is inviting everyone to race not limited on a select crowd. the only stipulation is that if things get outta control im gonna have to ask people to leave and im not pointing any one person out this is just some of the past dealings that ive heard. i want everyone to come race on the new pavement and hope we can ALL get along if that runs smooth then it all will and remember its HOBBY WORLD that owns the track no one certain person and if there is drama that goes on just come find me and ill try and clear it up as smooth as i can anyway guys ill let everyone know and thanx everyone for the patience PEEESH..... ROOK

Stoney-
I have some decent 2x4's & some plywood that used to be a workbench at our shop that may be used for the pits/announcer's booth. If ya want to take a look at them to see if you can use them, call me @ the shop: 724-0405. Or call my cell:505-8244 (Try the shop # first!)
Kat-
There's always someone there to practice on Thursdays! lol I'll be there. You should try to come up on Friday night & check it out before Sat's carpet action. I believe the track will be open that Wed & Thurs for practice.

BIGDON :dude:
David Butts 10-08-2003, 06:24 PM Stopped by the track after work today(imagine that)and it had just been pounded by a pretty big rain storm. Needless to say There was about 3 inches of water in the infield and near the old dip/drain area. Well the problem turned out to be the new asphalt itself.
There was so much new blacktop put down that the old drain was unable to drain at all. If you didnt know one of the boards on the back straight is hinged to allow it to be opened upwards to the inside for just that drainage purpose. It was now hindered by about two inches of asphalt so Dave Rook and I came up with a temporary solution.
We wedged a board in there for now and talk about draining fast. My feet are just now drying out. In less than five minutes there was only a small puddle where a lake had been previously. The whole back stretch wall from turns two to three will have to be raised a little to take the dip appearance out of it but believe me the old dip is gone.
Oh yeah the track is looking good, I only saw one spot that was questionable but I dont think it'll be in the racing line. The cars are gonna be fast guys. Tighten up those bumpy track setups and get ready to rip!
DEO RACING 10-08-2003, 06:33 PM Hey DAVE Im ready are you,I am waiting on KATFISH wonder if he can handle the speed he he he !!!!!!!!
Phillip
stoneman 10-08-2003, 07:44 PM sounds great george I will call you tomorrow
katf1sh 10-08-2003, 07:54 PM i see my little zap through the net didn't effect phils PC as much as i thought it would? i only took out your 10/100 card huh phil? lol i'm thinking i'll come up wed night george and race friday night and sat on the rug? if you say someone will be there wed night i'm gonna bring my stuff to play with..phil how long of a ride is it for you? maybe i can meet ya there wed night? i'll let ya drive a fast car for once!
katf1sh 10-08-2003, 08:00 PM also guys i have a little web site designed for the novice to the pro level..take a look and tell me what ya think so far? ( i realy had very little to do with the site) but eric has been hired to do my florida oval series site and he promised it would be even better than this one! lol if you have anything you would like to add to it..like maybe a florida swap and sell section or something post your suggestions on here or e mail eric or I ..it will get done ASAP..i would suspect pictures of hobby world to show up soon on it as well? thanks for looking..
DEO RACING 10-08-2003, 08:36 PM Kat you must of have got a maverick wow!!!!!! what happened to the ADX ANYBODY SHOPPING E-BAY
shawnleary 10-08-2003, 10:05 PM Katf1sh, where is the link to the Florida series site?
David Butts 10-08-2003, 10:33 PM Hey DAVE Im ready are you,I am waiting on KATFISH wonder if he can handle the speed he he he !!!!!!!!
Phillip The Kat is gonna have to get him some different gears. Of course he could leave his car geared for the carpet too. We could use a pace car :D I'm gonna try to run 4 cell stock for now if anyone else is and I think there will be enough to make the class. We dont need to overload the classes but I for one feel as if 4 cell stock is a good starting point and I have motors and batteries that'll work in that class for now. Eventually I'll be running 19t or even open mod(oh yeah). I'm trying about a 3:00 gear to start with as thats what I tried at my top secret testing facility. With the smoother track we should be able to finally run door to door through the turns without bouncing into each other as was the case before the repaving. Its gonna be fun for sure and my return to racing will be complete with my first lap on the old oval.
katf1sh 10-08-2003, 10:39 PM dave i race at every single flat track in florida bro! i avoided HW because they wanted your money and wanted you to do all the work on the track? not this kat! now with repaving and maybe some lights it will be awesome? i figure a 17-125 would be a start? figure that would help phil stay within 4 or 5 laps of me? lololol honestly i am looking forward to seeing the old off road track transformed into a princess? you guys are so lucky up there..now you have a nice outdoor track that can run large ovals and small and a indoor track once a month.. support them both..you will miss them if they pack up and leave..dave will you be there next wed night? i'm realy thinking i would like to get some track time out there? oh yeah and if anyone has a spare bed for friday night i'll take them up on that offer also? lol
David Butts 10-08-2003, 10:51 PM Hey Kat I plan on getting some practice or setup laps as soon as the required work is finished and my work schedule allows. If its done by wednesday the 15th thats when I'll be there. I didnt know you had seen the track before. I was hoping you'd get that deer in the headlights look like when some of the south central fl dirt oval guru's showed up at one(if not the last)of the last big dirt races in 94. Cleaned up for family viewing they were heard to say. Holly cow thats one big dang track. Well atleast you know where to start with the gearing. I understand your drivetime also as I used to make the weekly trips down there to raceway hobbies. Holly cow that was one itty bitty track  .
katf1sh 10-09-2003, 12:04 AM dave not many track si haven't raced at or looked at in florida bro..it's my hobby! last time i raced there..we had some kind of weird rules? some kind on mandatory pit stop? weird stuff..paul wynn i think was there as well as a few other fast guys..steve swindle was there also..it's not the size dave it's the quality that counts! he he he please please lmk if we can play on wed? thanks bro..

Not many things in life are guaranteed but I will guarantee this. There will be no mandatory(in an electric race) pit stops. An occasional wall check or maybe an unintentional pipe stuff but no mandatory pit stops.
Its just going to be good old fashioned full tilt racing from the buzzer on.
irvan36mm 10-09-2003, 07:51 AM ..........Oh yeah the track is looking good, I only saw one spot that was questionable but I dont think it'll be in the racing line. The cars are gonna be fast guys. Tighten up those bumpy track setups and get ready to rip!
DB-
I've seen those spots, too. They're very, very close to the outside wall,so it will be OK. If you're running up against the wall, then you need to wrench that car some more! lol
-George
BullFrog 10-09-2003, 01:24 PM The race you are talking about was hosted by the River City R/C Car Club and it was the Charlie Sumner Memorial NASCAR ( November) race held once a year.It always had special rules like pit stops.Since we no longer race there it is no longer done. The trophy is inside the hobby shop with all the winners. Shawn the website is www.fseara.com
katf1sh 10-09-2003, 05:07 PM see dave i'm not crazy! bill is! lololol
David Butts 10-10-2003, 05:07 PM Guys I'm not sure how many of you also read the firstcoastcarpetracing thread but incase you dont Dave P. and his wife were blessed with a baby girl this week so the next time you see Dave cut him some slack. He probably wont have slept much.
David Butts 10-11-2003, 08:21 AM I wanna race something! Anybody besides those that have already stated on here going to the world today to pick up trash and stare at the track? I gotta get out of the house before I go crazier :dude:. I think I'll call Tuffy's later and maybe run the legends car there tonight. Anyone else?
katf1sh 10-13-2003, 03:42 PM DAVE WHAT IS THE DEALIO ON THE TRACK? is it open for practice? will there be racing under the lights this satuday night? inquiring minds wanna know! LOL
David Butts 10-13-2003, 07:27 PM Katfish as of right now due to the weather of late and the future forcasts the track may not make its opening as scheduled. Its not my decision to make at all but there is still quite a bit of work left to do and not much time. Everyone is looking forward to some racing again and right now it looks like saturdays fiberfest may be it. Dave Rook(chekmate) is the contact on here and he'll let us know if anything changes.
stoneman 10-15-2003, 08:07 PM  plz check my post in the pro spec thread
thank you
David Butts 10-15-2003, 08:11 PM No racing and that equals no action on here either? Lets not lose interest in the yackin about the trackin. I got my monte carlo all painted up, cut out and ready to run(I think)and all the scews are tight. It was a beautiful day today and the weather will be perfect for some good old night time racing soon enough. Maybe its been a little slow on here because everyone is working so dilligently on their rides. Nah, They're all watching the baseball games.
bjessee 10-15-2003, 08:14 PM Does anyone know when we will resume
racing again, I think I am gana go nuts!!!
