Bringing my camcorder and tripod for this Friday. I'm going be posting the races on the website so they can be downloaded and watched on everyone's home computers. I will probably do just the Mains at first. I will have to remember to hit the <REC> button before I go up to the drivers stand or possible position the tripod on the end of the drivers stand out of the way.

Sounds like its going to be a good turn out. People are coming out of the wood work for this class. I'm really happy to see that, and glad we finally saw the light and opened up the chassis. GO SPEC!!! :thumbsup: Its going to be anyone's series cause many aren't going to make at least five.

George with your two prior runs and that Keyence, we will be trying to hunt you down. I can't wait, gonna be a blast. Two Mains?

Shawn I'd find another place for the camcorder. That driver stand moves around more than you realize. Maybe down low in turn three looking across the track.

good point David. I will try out a few spots to make sure I get most of the track. The best spot honestly would be ontop of the roof of the shop, but not sure if I could get the "ok" for that. There is a picture of the track, back when it was dirt, on the counter at the OP store, pefect view. We would see the straightaways coming right at us and going away and see all the action clear in the corners. I wonder if I could get up there and set it up without breaking my neck. I've got a remote control for the camera so I wouldn't have to be near it to turn it on to record. jonesin for big oval. ;)

OK,sorry for the shameless plug! lol Actually,I should be called "NO MONEY"! lol The Keyence was working really,really well. Better than I expected! I actually got to figure the programming out later that night at the house. Contrary to popular belief,it doesn't say "Hello" to ya when you turn it on. It'll spell out "Hello" on the LED readout!
BTW: Where's Jay with that "No-rain" dance???? lol

In case mother nature is still doing what it is right now you might not be racing tonight. I will have the garage R/C sale going tonight from 6-8:30 (if it is raining). Also tommorrow ( Saturday) from 4-7pm and Sunday from 1-3pm. Everything needs to go.Still alot of stuff left.

Radar has some scattered stuff, hopefully we will stay dry tonight. C-ya's trackside.

No we did'nt race but we put forth a good effort to.we dried the track blew off the track.sugar watered the track.then it rained after a couple of practice runs. then we dried the track again.as soon as we got the last puddle dry it started raining again. :cry:

Now theres a visual all us over 40 guys have to live with the rest of our lives. Look at the bright side. It gets worse in the 50's and 60's. Enjoy it while you can or can still remember :eek:

We ran this class once before and run around 29 laps in 4min.
Lets see how many classes we may run before we add another. Too many may overload the computer man.

If theres enough interest in running 4-cell stock at HW and it doesnt overload the schedule, I,d be willing. Joe you sure about that 29 in four minutes? Ran mine one Sunday just goofin and it didnt look that fast,course alot of my stuff looks that way :( here lately!

29? Is that all? Oh well I remember way back when 19 laps on the dirt was considered fast. Are there any official lap records kept anywhere? I know the road course changes once in a while but the big oval is pretty much locked in. I think the board is still up on the drivers stand. That would give all the classes something to shoot for.

if you want to know the track records for oval please contact phil owen. i think he owns them all? lol when is that roller coaster getting paved? now thats when track records get shattered! you guys are lucky..i think ormond beach will be getting it's very own race park soon..off road track with small dirt oval included..plus a huge chunk of brand new assfault(lol) with lights and power...wooooooooo and guess who gets a key to it all baby? yup ME ! :tongue:

I can attest to Joe's 29 lapper in 4-cell stock. I was (I think) 2 laps down from him! If I had worked on my gearing,I would have been neck & neck w/Joe! One of the Pedano's (can't remember which!) was out there w/ his 4-cell stock a couple of Fridays ago. He was looking pretty stout!
As long as it doesn't overload the Friday plate,put my name in the 4-cell stock hat,too! Anybody else????? Shawn??

Pro-Spec (Street Spec local rules/equipment w/any oval chassis)
4-cell 19-turn oval (Chameleon 2 motors only)
Touring stock (On-Road course)

red rumor has it that the track is closed until futher notice. REPAVING :D Look forward to seeing out there. People practice on Sunday early afternoons and some Thursday nights.

OK,I went to HW today after reading about repaving. Don @ HW has asked me to post some info regarding the repaving deal,so I guess this is as OFFICIAL as it gets! lol

-Paving to start (weather & other factors permitting) on Thursday 10/2. This is what Don was told.
-Track will be closed for 2 weeks to let the asphalt cure. Boards & pipe being pulled up as we speak!
-Open practice will start on Oct 15 & 16 (Wed & Thurs)
-Racing (and start of new point series) will resume Fri Oct 17
-New lights to follow
Also,Don told me that ROAR membership may/will be required. If you have any questions,etc,please call Hobby World (904) 772-9022.

I guarantee you that with everything off of it, it is indeed a huge surface of black. Did y'all disassemble all of the pipes or just drag the larger sections off the turns 3/4 end of the track? If it turns out as good as the pavers think it will that aforementioned 6.5 lap may not get you noticed. I forecast some low seven second laptimes with 4 cell stock. Those old bumps and the dip in the back straight which is right were you needed to run to get into three really fast kept the laptimes at a pace that was fast but lookout. The new hobby world monster oval will be the fastest track around this part of the country. Not only are the straights really long but the turns are real long too. Center to center I believe the straights are 80 feet apart and the track is around 160 feet end to end. At one time it was measured at 325 feet around the inside wall and 410 around the outside for a measured 367 foot centerline. Thats BIG! Oh yeah. Open mod? That'll be scary for the turn marshalls in one and three.

Well everyone I stopped by the world today and lo and behold there is new asphalt everywhere there once was old. It looked really big as in the previous posting. Actually it looks larger when its empty but it will soon enough be filled by flying(actually rolling very fast)racecars of all types. Get out your good stuff guys this new surface is gonna be fast.

FLASH! yes i talked to eric about my ideas for the web site..we are contacting sponsors slowly..we are very new to this..i want to be able to show possible sponsors our web site before it goes public so they understand i'm not a joke. it looks like a 6 race series with 2 throw outs..ALL RACES THE 1ST YEAR WILL BE INDOORS. 2 races in j ville, 2 races in orlando and 2 races in tampa at minnreg. there will be a father son or father daughter series within a series as well as a few cool suprises. there will be an award every race for the black cloud racer..black cloud is someone who had hardship that race day..we are trying to get a motor sponsor to give out a hand tuned stock motor for that black cloud award each race. a huge banquet with free food at the end of the year and very nice trophies..i'm trying to get the 1st place trophy to resemble a vacuum cleaner..you have your oscar and your emmy..why not a vacuum? lol

i'm excited that a few companies have allready pledged there support..things are looking up..it's the 1st year and i race not promote so this is going to be new teritory for me..at the very least i can say i tried..i love oval racing and i realy feel like it's making a come back and this would be a good time to try and fire this program up..minnreg does not require roar membership but j ville and orlando may become roar tracks..it doesn't hurt so bad when you get a free magazine subscription thrown in..j ville is my home track so i will do what it takes to secure 2 dates with them.. that would require j ville to hold 2 races in one month twice..the series will not allow any road course cars and were not going to worry about changing over the track..i'm expecting 60 entries each race..legends,novice stock,4 cell stock and pro stock along with 19 turn..we will also allow a promoters class..as long as it can use the current lay out (oval) ..winner of the father son series will receive 2 passes to a orlando theme park TBA ..a few of us are working out the details..you will all know when i know,lol..thank you for your interest.. :thumbsup:
