irvan36mm 07-22-2003, 08:10 AM ya I think I will join in the fun with you guys I'm going to run both clases if I can handle it I already bought another charger to charge the batteries.one question though.are the spec packs nicd or nimh?
Stoney-
Spec packs are NiCad. All you need is Spec motors, batteries & tires. Borrow them from Rob if you can!
Lee-
I am running my Pro-Spec car this Friday-for race comparison sake! BTW,you did pretty good in Spec last Sat! I'll get w/Meadows about your shirt. Maybe he could bring it to HW Fri?
-George
shawnleary 07-22-2003, 03:30 PM Stoney, the packs are ol'skool NICD, 1600. They are actually just came out at the end of last year. They have really made the class a lot faster.
I charge them at 3.5-4 amps and usually drain the leftovers at 10A. After I first peak them I turn my charge down to .5A and let the rest of the cells fill -up. These are aren't matched batteries so some need a little more time than others. Doooh! I kind of sound like I know what I'm doing, this is bad. Well if it wasn't for Jason, Joe H., and Tom I wouldn't be here right now. They are at fault for my addiction. Those Bas#$%#$ :)
Look forward to runnin with ya Stoney
Shawn
shawnleary 07-22-2003, 03:34 PM Yea Lee you did fine. You should have saw me and jason at CPT. Jason was ok, except for the 1x4 that he split in two(someone's radio came on), but I was so bad that I was going to get rid of my Spec car if HW didn't come back. Thankfully it did.
c-ya fri
davepull 07-22-2003, 03:36 PM Just a question for the spec guys the plan is to keep the spec chassis for carpet right?
shawnleary 07-22-2003, 03:40 PM It doesn't matter to me.
Shawn
davepull 07-22-2003, 03:44 PM well, we were talking about it and I figured that you were the head spec guru to ask
irvan36mm 07-22-2003, 04:14 PM Dave-
It doesn't matter to me,either. Actually, the "junky" Spec chassis works waaay better on carpet than asphalt! Weird for a car called "Street Spec"! I'll keep that one for carpet duty & run the Pro-Spec at HW. That way,I won't have to keep changing over the setups.
-George
jmeadows 07-22-2003, 04:41 PM I vote to keep the spec chassis. I think I'm going to resurect mine.
stoneman 07-22-2003, 05:18 PM OK thanks for the
stoneman 07-22-2003, 05:21 PM OK thanks for the info shawn i'm pumped.
stoney:D
shawnleary 07-22-2003, 05:46 PM Third time's a charm. The power has reset here at school, twice, while trying to write my reply. Errrrrrr...
I'm all for keeping it the way it is (keeping Spec chassis). I would hate to see us bring in newer chassis and be faster than all of the Stock drivers ;)
Gooooo SPEC!!!
Shawn
shawnleary 07-22-2003, 05:47 PM Awesome John. Look forward to running up against you, again!
I've got a back up car here and some spare parts if you need some.
Shawn
Ultimate Racer 07-22-2003, 07:38 PM At the Hooters race, we will be running 4 cell mod oval, elec. touring, nitro touring, on-road monster truck, street spec. We will add any class where there are three or more also, but those are the main classes.
shawnleary 07-22-2003, 09:38 PM Shadow people, how much does it cost to run?

bigdon18 07-25-2003, 01:37 PM Maybe you guys will get a break in the rain and get some racing in good luck  i lived in jacksonville for 14 years so i know how it rains every afternoon there during the summer monsoon season..
Don
shrabber 07-25-2003, 02:37 PM lets do the rain dance oops theres no indoor track this week o boy :(
David Butts 07-26-2003, 09:48 AM Hey guys I'm new to this remote control car stuff  (heh heh) Whats the hot setup on hobby worlds oval and how low can the car be setup? That back straight looks a little bumpy. It kinda reminds me of an old dirt track I used to race at. Deja vu all over again?
BullFrog 07-26-2003, 09:56 AM New -since when? Does this mean your coming back?
David Butts 07-26-2003, 10:17 AM Bullfrog, shhhhh :jest:
BullFrog 07-26-2003, 01:42 PM I was looking foward for those BRIGHT Floresent paint jobs again.
David Butts 07-26-2003, 06:08 PM I was looking foward for those BRIGHT Floresent paint jobs again.
Yep dont worry. I've already been working on how my old colors will look on a touring car. Flourescent pink, yellow and white baby. Yeah thats the ticket. :dude: I've got all the cars down out of the attic and besides all the tires being dry rotted the bodies still look good(to me atleast)enough for ideas. Cant find my super speedway car. I think I sold it to someone in 1992 or I'd be doing the old go fast turn left stuff before the go fast turn right then left thingee. I'm not sure the right side return springs still work on my old radio's. I never used them :D
Fl Flash 07-27-2003, 12:26 AM David or anyone knowing David,
Raced with a nice young man at Hooters Sat nite about 13-14 years old running a spec car named David, didnt get his last name.He pitted with me and when I was unloading at home I realized he had left his very nice discharger in my truck  Anyone knowing him please have him contact me at 904-887-2745 and I will get it back to him :)
Thanks Guys
Lee helander
BTW he won the main!!
DEO RACING 07-28-2003, 06:49 PM Hey JOE, CAN YOU COME OUT TO PLAY FRIDAY. I am coming down friday to run 19t , will try for that 34 laps, or are you running the truck series only.If not we need to make plans to run the next point series
Phillip :dude:
Joe Malin 07-28-2003, 07:13 PM Yes Phillip............ If you come, I'll come.
I'm running 6-cell truck and Pro Spec to get these guys started. Sorry, NO 4-cell until next series.
Call me early to get a weather report.
irvan36mm 07-28-2003, 10:05 PM .....I'm running 6-cell truck and Pro Spec to get these guys started. Sorry, NO 4-cell until next series.
Joe-
Thanks again for your guidance & help getting the Pro-Spec deal going. OK,it took 3-4 years to turn some heads but nevertheless,it's gonna be very fun!! Also, not running 4-cell will give Pilgrim less to worry about! But you still gotta deal with the #1 car!
HOW ABOUT ANOTHER "NO-RAIN" FRIDAY W/ LOTS OF RACERS THIS TIME?
-George
shawnleary 07-29-2003, 03:45 PM Two no-rain Friday's would be like winning the Lotto. Well almost.
Thanks again Joe for you help Friday. Tom too for helping me make my first 4-cell packs.
Shawn
David Butts 07-29-2003, 07:58 PM Hmmm? Since I have'nt raced at hw since it was dirt I think I'll sneak out there before friday night and spread about four inches of clay all around the oval. That'll make me feel more at home. Hmm still have one of my old dirt oval cars. Can I race with you guys? I promise I'll be polite. I'll even appologize before I hit you. :jest:
DEO RACING 07-29-2003, 08:17 PM Hey DAVE - I will race you any day just like the good old days, see you friday.
Phillip :dude:
bigdon18 07-30-2003, 10:28 AM can you say wedge or open wheel mods....
Dave iam all for the clay,,,,,,,
Don
Fl Flash 07-30-2003, 09:02 PM HW Racers,
Anyone talked anymore about putting a short track back in the middle??????? Yea I like the Super Speedway! but I have a couple children who would like to run there Legends ( yea one of ums me  )
Later Lee
shrabber 07-30-2003, 10:26 PM i will run mine as well if they do that we can get a legends class going?
Joe Malin 07-30-2003, 10:42 PM Lets get some feedback from the regulars on how many could/would run a short track Legends class. How much positive interest can we stir up? Post your comments and lets get this thing back in gear like we used to. I remember when we had two heats of legends with 6 in each. Its a easy second cheap class to run and can produce as much as or more fun than the other classes. BTW.... we had 8 legend cars running over at Tuffy's saturday night and not all of the regular drivers were there.
Joe Mama
irvan36mm 07-30-2003, 11:32 PM Mama-
You know if I had one,I'd run it! But we would have to do it our way! (aka: local rules) Like steel DuBro turnbuckles instead of piano wire & collars allowed! Almost zero problems & nobody gets frustrated. Any Spec tire as long as it has the grey band. I think it's time for the Bambulance-Pt2! Hmmmm,I wonder if Greg still has his Legends???
-George
shrabber 07-31-2003, 04:01 PM regulars or eregulars i would come out if you had a legends race. I  thought the idea is to make it appealing to get more racers to the venue with different ways to have fun
Fl Flash 07-31-2003, 09:02 PM Legends yea,
Id be there with at least one every week along with my regular ride. George mine already have turnbuckles and ball cups saves alot of dnfs so we let it slide in Ga. now if those steering blocks where better! I would have to run my modified body( its flourescent blue and white) or get a new body somewhere, the coupe and sedan bodys I have are both dark vision challenged.
Later Lee
Fl Flash 07-31-2003, 09:07 PM  ,
I meant I am dark vision challenged! man I got my first set of bifocals yesterday and still cant type! its a bummer getting older!
Yall have Fun tommorrow night I come by if I get back early.
Lee
shawnleary 08-01-2003, 09:36 AM I'm interested. I need to get a Legends car though.
Shawn
Joe Malin 08-01-2003, 10:31 AM Hey........ this Legends things looks better than ever. Cars can be found. All we need is the interest to follow this thru. Lets get together tonight at Hobby World and discuss possible scenerios.
Joe
irvan36mm 08-01-2003, 03:51 PM Joe-
All we would need to do w/the short oval is to remove 2 straight sections of PVC & cap-off the section of pipe that goes into the on-road deal and we would have an instant short track for Legends! Anybody have a drill?! Maybe we could split the next Spec series between short & long track???
-George
Fl Flash 08-01-2003, 11:00 PM Hey,
Didnt get back from Daytona till 10:00 did ya get to race? Hope so!
Joe/George let me know about the Legends :) mines ready ta run! That idea about running a short track/ speedway series for spec sounds good too!
Shawn,
I have a back-up Legend that my stepson runs when he visits, your more than welcome to try it out.You would have to run one of my slooow motors though  Ok so all of my motors are slow!
Later, Lee Helander
shawnleary 08-02-2003, 09:28 AM I wouldn't mind running the old Spec chassis around the short track as well. Would be good practice for carpet too.
irvan36mm 08-02-2003, 04:04 PM Legends yea,

Funny you mentioned the turnbuckles on your Legends! During the recently-held bench racing session & HW (due to rain),a proposal for a future Legends class was being constructed. Here's what the group came up with:
HW LEGENDS (Proposed for next points series-if we ever get there!)
1. Must race the car in kit form (as it came in the box). If it wasn't in the box when you got it,don't even think of putting it on your car-period! (Except for areas of interest outlined in rule proposal #2)
2. RULE AMENDMENTS
All other Legends rules apply except for the following amendments EXCLUSIVE TO HOBBY WORLD ONLY:
TIRES-Must use any grey-banded Spec tire (TRC/Trinity Spec,BoLink white or grey-rimmed,etc)
GEARING- 48 or 64 pitch gears only. If using the stock 48-pitch gear, you must use a brown-colored 81 tooth spur. Must use any 21 tooth-and-under pinion (no 22t pinions!) 64-pitch equivalent coming soon!
STEERING LINKAGE- Can use the stock wire & collar linkage or steel turnbuckles with ball cups & ball studs.
MOTOR- Spec motor with "S" brushes with silver or black brush springsonly! No exceptions.
The above rules are being proposed right now. The final draft will be legal only for HW ONLY! Certain parts of this proposal may not be legal for other tracks,so check before you race at them!
Joemama: Please add-on the 64-pitch gear equivalent!
Please post what you think
-George
irvan36mm 08-02-2003, 04:08 PM Well, looks like I've got some Legends shopping to do!
-George
shawnleary 08-02-2003, 04:18 PM Where can I get a Lengends car? Anyone have an extra for sale?
Shawn
metrodog 08-02-2003, 05:01 PM Mine will be for sale if rob doesnot buy it but he gets 1st crack at it.
Greg
Fl Flash 08-02-2003, 06:14 PM George,
Rules look good to me! :p
21 pinion 81 spur is 3.86 ratio in 48 pitch, 28 pinion 108 spur is 3.86 in 64 pitch or pretty darn close anyway
Are they allowing turnbuckles and 64 pitch gears for FCCR races? What about Tuffys? doesnt really matter to me I have one car thats pure Legend and one that has turnbuckles and 64 pitch gears.Someday I would like to visit Tuffys track, from the pics it looks awsome!
Did Yall get to race last night? sorry I missed the fun but my daughter takes priority!!
Later Lee
shrabber 08-02-2003, 08:18 PM sounds good i will race a legend series add me in also george give me your email addy i need to talk to you about getting a spec car also joe really would appreciate if i can get your 12th scale setup for fccr track tires gearing and springs front rear aand center thanks tim

Lee-
As far as the other tracks, that depends on them. I know that at Tuffy's,they're running "as they come in the box". That's a good thing that you have 2 Legends cars in different configurations. No-we didn't get to race last night,so you didn't miss anything. May try to practice Sunday @ 12 noon-depending on weather. May not even happen! -George
BullFrog 08-03-2003, 08:23 AM Flash 99.9% of the tracks run the gears gears (bolink 21-22 pinion and 81 brown spur only).
