Anyone going to the race in november in fort lauderdale? If so it looks like practice would be wed thur and fri before the event. three quals on Sat. Question to anyone who might now this. Is there any practicing on Saturday morning at that type of event. I can't take that Friday off and probably wouldn't get there until 10pm, after practice is over. Hoping some of you might know before I send in 60 bucks to race. ]

If course I don't see Street Spec on the list of classes. Looks like I better start trying another if I even want to be close to competive by then. In the same breath, I called HW tonight and they said everyone was leaving so I didn't come. How was the turn out?

Jonesin pretty bad now for some racing. Jarc, is that mini track open yet? Can we run 1/10 scale on it. : )

Mills Pond is a concrete track and CAPS are used. Been racing there for years. Fun track to race on. If you haven't raced with caps its gonna be different. Would suggest making a trip down there for one of their local saturday races prior to Nov race. Weather/temp determines which flavor of caps to run. Take most flavors with you from red to orange.

shawn save your money and days off! caps and banked ovals are a entirely different world! you will spend 200.00 in caps alone..weather could be 55 deg or it could be 85 deg...thats alot of caps...save your money and race tuffys! :)

There is a 65 dollar cap purchase to enter the race. Does everyone would have to use that same cap. I've never been to an event like that. Would be fun to see.

Sounds like a handout cap deal! Probably compounds that are best suited for that track. Could also be specially marked for tech (kinda like the grey band on Spec tires!),but everyone uses the same caps in those type of races. Also,the rain completely missed the track once again. Had a couple of more people come out & play but it was the same deal as the last couple of weeks. :( Would like to see a clear,non-threatening Friday night sometime soon so we could all race!

Amen to that,George! But as any who have been coming to HW for a long time know,the summer can be brutal for racing outdoors. This will make the carpet racing that much sweeter for those who can go.At least Dave P. finally got that gas car to go! I have to say that he is a good driver,he drove that thing well considering it was the first time he ran it. It's was good to bench-race and bs with everyone,but it's time to race now! :freak:

Dave can drive that car as well........ He did a good job for the first time out!

Caps or no Caps, can't beat going to Fort Laudie for a weekend with some buddies. I mean, some serious racing, ummm. I mean, there isn't the Miami/Fort Lauderdale night life and "attractions" to lure a young man down there for a weekend or anything. "Honey, would you like to come with me to Fort Lauderdale for the weekend, we are going to be racing our R/C cars the ENTIRE time." "What was that? Nope? Ok, no problem, I'll be back late Sunday."

I'm hungry for a big event. I've never been to one and would like to see just how much I suck. If anyone else is going let me know. I'm pretty sure me and Jason will be going, would be cool to see some fellow Jacksonville / other areas down there.

Looking at the forcast today, looks good for Friday. The Return to Hobby World! Anyone else geared up for some Super Speedway action?

I'm gunning to take down Joe Spec's record of 29, 1:01. set a few months ago. I know Jason is also looking to do that in the next few weeks. 30 laps would be sooo sweet.

I wish one of you spec racers would indeed break that record,....so close to the mark,...but not quite,....just a little more,.....even though we all know that it was there at the 3 minute mark,....oh well,yeah,....just go ahead and break it!

I'm hoping. As the last "classic" spec series, it would be nice to have that record. Someone could still run the old chassis without the wing and break it in the next series, but it won't be the same.

Yes I remember John calling out 30 laps, that's why I had to take you out in turn 3. Just kidding.

Joe can we count on seeing you in the next series? I think Joe M. and possible Tom will be. Hopefully others will consider it. Maybe some of the 6-cell stock guys would try it out as well.

Yeah,this is probably the first & last run for my 6-cell stock Nastruck before converting it over to Spec. I'll probably run the truck body on it,just w/Spec batts,tires & motor. I'll have to cut off the fixed 6-cell tray & bolt on my homemade stick pack tray!

I've got to get a couple of new spec packs,and a couple of motors for "Pro-spec",.... got to build the battery deal too! Right after the points end. How many races do we have left in this series? Did you all race last friday night? I was in Kentucky,and missed alot of racing.... :tongue:

Tom doing the hat trick,winning both quals AND the main in 19-turn! What's up with that???? I'll tell ya-to see someone like Tom running that good every race (even on carpet!) is seeing someone that has been doing this crazy hobby for a long time reinventing himself and finally having fun and being very competitive! It is "Must-See TV"! He is a perfect example of paying close attention to your car. Replacing worn or broken parts,making sure moving parts are free,etc. If everyone follows his example,whether it's Spec or 19-turn or touring,they too will be fast!

There are alot of props to go around! The best run was the 9 car main in 4-cell mod,....everyone showed alot of cool driving,and we should make a large car field the norm around there all the time,for every main! Shawn gets an " atta-boy" for his first performance in 4-cell mod. Just goes to show how important spec racing is for any program,it's a good place to start for new drivers,to become good drivers later on. Shawn has been concerned about the cost of 4-cell,but I think he found out that at the end of the day,it's all about driving! Major props go to George,who had the right stuff,at the right price,to convince me that someone else's design might just work anyway. Thanks George! Some things just work better if they are stiff. Tom has always been good! real good! Now that he is focused on the 4-cell mod.he will be a force to be reckoned with for sure. The main thing he did in first round is to be cool and collected,and take advantage of someone else's mishap,for I had the field handled in that round,......until Hart came around. friday night was a blast! can't wait for 2 weeks! Gotta find 3 tenths more :freak:

Oh yeah,....that's why we love to race with Rob,....he's got so much speed at the end of the straight,that he usually,.....well,let's just say that his corners are a "road less traveled" He is a blast in the pits too! Most of the people at HW suit the track well,.....alot of character!!

Rip out the road corse and that waste of space bull ring and redo the inside. A change of track layout WOULD be sweet.....

that is what is good about sedan racing, you can change the lay out and run at the same track with out getting burned out on running there every weekend, thats cool.

maybe half what the old first coast concerte track had,, its a shame that track has been let go like it has.. it was the only track in j ville that had big 2 day oval races, summer and winter nationals with several racers. was alot of fun to run plus you got something to show for what you spend all your time and money on, even the weekly race you got a plaque for the top 3. but now all you can do is hope and wish this hobby/sport gets back to what it was, and i feel like its making a surge in that direction with all the good things that been happening lately.

Naw,fish....I love the asphalt! I don't even have to clean that much tire rubber out of the car anymore. :thumbsup: But I heard that Ocala has one of the best dirt tracks around. But you are a carpet racer,right?

We're glad to have you join our "Paragon Addiction Group"! :lol: Just having one more car/driver in our Spec class makes a huge difference. Having a full field in the Spec mains 2 weeks ago was the most fun any of us had in a long time! About 2-maybe 3 years ago,we used to have 2 mains of Spec cars. We all would love to see Spec go back to that kind of attendance. I think w/the Spec open-chassis rule,we will see it!

I wish I could make it to the carpet for sure! But job requirements keep me tied up until late afternoon saturdays.Racing is definitely great in Jax! I hear that racing in Tampa is good too! Florida in general is a great place,for racing,...and other things. I have been so busy lately,I haven't even made it to Tuffy's in awhile,...another great and fun racing venue! I appreciate all the traveling racers,who find a good time in Jax! All of us here,appreciate the friendship,and the great racing,that we share with our brethren from out of town! It's all about numbers,....the more people=more fun :thumbsup:

Depends on how the Pro-Spec deal goes. I think it's gonna take off bigger than expected. I would like to eventually (if not sooner) narrow myself down to running one class @ HW. The Pro-Spec deal sounds waaaay too much fun right now! It's so much fun that I'm gonna start myself in Pro-Spec this Friday night! (No parts to fix other Spec car!)

i know i do not race the oval. but i had to chime in. they had it good with an offroad track. i believe the jumps are still there!!! at least my view on the road couse. :D
