joespec 03-23-2003, 10:32 AM Irvin36mm,......I'm going to go to the track for sure! It would be good to have you,and others to run with! Practice is always fun,and I should have gone saturday as well, but had honey-do's to do,and yes,I fixed the sink  What time are you going? I'll be there shortly after they open at 12 noon. You said that your car seemed to be now competitive, and from watching the race sheets, you have indeed gotten faster! I have even thought about getting one of those personal lap counter systems for myself,......seems like for the speedway,it would be a useful tool,......Seeya!
GeorgiaFordFan 03-23-2003, 07:42 PM I have even thought about getting one of those personal lap counter systems for myself  Joe??..Thinking about spending money on the dreaded technology thing????? What is the world coming to?
Hey ya'll, had a great time in Daytona (even with the rain). Learned alot about going fast and (most of all) turning left. Can't wait 'till Friday, I'm ready to race.
shawnleary 03-23-2003, 11:02 PM check out the current street spec standings on the website I setup to keep track of the class.

We run street spec chassis though. All the rules are available on our website. Good luck with the move and hope to see you at Hobby World on Friday nights.

shawnleary 03-23-2003, 11:16 PM Hi guys,
The new packs and open gearing have really sped up Street Spec. I hope it isn't pushing away people though. I think the new battery packs would have made us faster anyway. I actually wouldn't mind making it a 5 minute race for next season? What do you guys think? 34 and 120 is @ 3.52 These packs can go another minute at that ratio. Just making the race 5 minutes long would basically force us to gear down to the 3.52 and higher. I've been geared up to 3.15 and 3.24. With no dumping during the 4 minute races. At that ratio, i would probably dump hard during that 5 minute. Making our races 5 minutes would be, A.) More time on the track for out ten bucks B.) Make it slower out there C.) Give me a chance to catch up to Jason
Lets think about it making 5 minute races for next season??
Shawn
shawnleary 03-23-2003, 11:40 PM "Even w/the new rules they're still bloody fast, but it's given the rest of us a better chance at catching up w/them! "
What is that supposed to mean?? : ) :jest:

Tinman47 03-25-2003, 05:32 PM Thanks for the info Jarc and Shawnleary, area is looking good! Looks like I might even be moving into a RC Oval racing hotbed! Is it true there is a possibilty of racing Friday,Saturday and Sundays on carpet, concrete superspeedway and a flat short track!!! :D Life is Good.Wow cant wait to get down there and race with ya!
joespec 03-26-2003, 08:47 PM GeorgiaFordFan,......yep.Would be nice to count laps in practice, hard to hold a stop-watch and drive too. But that is how competitive the spec class has become,........kinda like Shawn's idea to go back to 5 minute racing for the spec! Like we used to do back when. Went to practice sunday after the sun dried the track, got the car faster, still won't know about the handling until I run friday night. Got to say that atomic built me a motor that screams! Props to Bear and Bob! Gene might be running with us,so there might be another spec flyer out there,he always fast too! This class is getting more exciting by the week,Glad to have you,and the other racers taking interest in this class!
joespec 03-26-2003, 09:03 PM shawnleary,.....the 5 minute race idea is a good one! We went from the beginning,of racing on the short-track,to the speedway, and when a good majority of racers couldn't make the 5 minute run-time with the bigger pinion we voted in,we reduced the racing to 4 minutes, and you can imagine what that all lead to. We could easily make five minutes now,and leave the gear open,so if someone sucked their cells dry before the end of the race,......oh well. But,the gear limit would be good too,to keep racers from being tempted to ruin their batteries by running down to nothing in a race. Lots to ponder to keep this class good into the future!
irvan36mm 03-27-2003, 03:00 PM Thanks for the info Jarc and Shawnleary, area is looking good! Looks like I might even be moving into a RC Oval racing hotbed! Tinman-
Actually, the Hobby World track (races every Fri night) is about 365'-ish driveline. Somewhat flat (2-5 deg bank in corners) asphalt super speedway. The "Tuffy" track (every other Sunday) is a banked concrete oval in his backyard-about 170'-ish driveline. Don't know the size of the carpet (every 3rd Sat starting this Summer) yet, though! Yes,life is good here!
Hope to see you soon!
-George
George, we have on order 2 rolls of Gray Fanfair Carpet. The size will be 35ish x 72ish give or take a foot.
irvan36mm 03-28-2003, 12:13 AM Jay-
Cool! Is that close to the size of the old CPT track? I used to have one of their old flyers with the dimensions on it,but it got tossed out awhile back.
-George
Within feet of CPT's size, yes.
irvan36mm 03-30-2003, 11:48 PM Joespec-
I'm all for 5 minute Spec races! Makes the drivers work really hard with the gearing and the itchy trigger finger! Wouldn't be surprised to see the old Spec gearing being used in some of the cars! BTW,found a collapsed dampener disc while going through the car tonight. Probably why the car "wiggled" through the Turn 1 last Friday! Never did that before! Hmmmm!
-George
shawnleary 03-31-2003, 08:40 PM Site has been updated, also link to Street Spec Thread on Hobby Talk.
Missed you guys Friday, will be there this coming! Suonds like Jay man handled everyone again. I think we need to tech his car : )

irvan36mm 03-31-2003, 11:53 PM Tim-
The classes being run @ HW are:
Street Spec-Trinity,old TRC or Bolink Spec chassis only
4 cell 19-turn-any oval chassis,19 turn C1/C2's
Stock touring- Stock 27 turn motors only
Your best bet might be 4 cell 19-turn. Very competitive! Lighting has been improved a bit so it's not quite as dark as before. See you soon!
-George

irvan36mm 04-02-2003, 09:42 AM Tim-
It's supposed to be nice this Friday. Come on out! $10.00 for one class/car,$5.00-each additional class/car. Registration starts around 7:00,racing starts around 8:00. As I said the lighting is improved a bit so it's not as dark as before. It's not bad. Plenty of pit space & outlets. Plus Atomic M/S (Bear & Bob) will be there for all of your motor needs!
-George

irvan36mm 04-07-2003, 09:36 AM Congrats to Joe Mama for his 33-lap A-main run last Friday! Very clean race, too! Actually, that whole bunch in the first heat was very, very fast! Anybody interested in Sportsman 4-cell 19-turn? Same car specs, but w/spec tires only???
-George
joespec 04-08-2003, 09:53 PM George,...........Joe Malin ran 33 laps? He must have felt the pressure, and put in his "out of town" stuff in his car for that one! Instead of splitting the class once again, how about checking out the spec thread, and telling us what you think? Specs with wings, light weight axles, total mayhem with budget running gear? :freak:
bigdon18 04-12-2003, 11:42 PM hobby world , where yall at.....

irvan36mm 04-14-2003, 08:17 AM Jay-

irvan36mm 04-17-2003, 12:39 AM Don-
Also bring rocket motors! The 19-turn class is getting extremely fast & competitive lately!
-George
joespec 04-17-2003, 05:14 AM BigDon18,.....yeah man! Glad that you are doing better!! It's good to know that you are coming to race once again! We got a 6-cell truck class starting up too,....any chassis, any stock,6-cells,no wings, truck bodies. 4-cell,19 turn is a blast too,but cinch up your harness, for it's a wild ride! As soon as we get a few things cleared up in spec, that class will be right on as well, and we are not too much slower then 4-cell. Lots of good racing here! We have a dedicated racer,John, and he comes early and preps the track for us,......blow dried and sugar-watered. If you need any help for a time with marshaling, just hollar.
bigdon18 04-17-2003, 05:16 PM thats something i havent thought about yet, marshaling :freak:
yeah i will need some help in that department, i dont think the guys would want me to, it be in slow motion
but i cant wait to go down the back straight like a gang buster and let the 19t hum zoooooooooommmmmmmmmmmm.
Don
joespec 04-17-2003, 08:33 PM bigdon18,.....no sweat. Just look for the old guy towards the end of the chicken coop,I don't run that fast either  But most of the guys I wind up marshalling for know this,so they don't crash much  The 4-cell,19 turn is FAST! Joe Malin, and Phil are usually the stars of this deal, but there are several who can come up big here! It's good to know that you are coming back, more racers=more fun for all!
cneyedog 04-17-2003, 09:21 PM george, you gonna try that setup i suggested this week ? .... if so let me know how you do.
Joe Malin 04-19-2003, 11:53 AM Wow ---- What a night of racing !!!!!
Congrats to Phil Owens on setting a NEW track record ( 33 / 4:04 ). Also it was good to see Bigdon out of Waycross back in race form. Hope to see ya back again soon. Was a great night for 19T 4-cell. 1st qualifier Phil ran broke my old record ( 33 - 4:06 ) by 2 seconds while my best was a 33 - 4:05. Looks like there's a NEW GUY from Brunswick to contend with. See what happens when you listen to the OLD Man...LOL. The main was just as wild. Both Phil and I ran 33 - 4:06's in a somewhat challenging main feature race. I Finally got my 7.0 lap i've been looking for. Thanks again for ALL that came out ( 47 entries ) and raced.
Joe Mama
shawnleary 04-19-2003, 12:14 PM Now that it is warming up, hopefully we will see even more folks coming out. Street Spec had a good night as well, probably since I won I thought it was good night : ) The results and points have been updated on the site. Anyone out there have a spec car come out and join us. We need more people! I want two mains!
Awesome racing for the 4-cell guys. What would happen if you all tried 6-cells instead of 4? Some 6.5 sec laps would be awesome. Probably too bumby though. Gotta repave the track HW!!!

cneyedog 04-19-2003, 12:38 PM oh yeah, some body tell Dan "bigdogrc" Mcclinton that his e-mail isint working. thanks
bigdon18 04-19-2003, 03:22 PM well i have to say i had a great time last night even tho i had a wild crazy wreck and left my car in pieces. at least i did get to lead a couple laps just before it happen.
like to thank phillip, tim, and joe for helping me out the night, they are really good friends. i also saw some old friends and got to see some guys that i have been talking to on here it was nice to meet them,[ joespec, metrodog, jarc, plus george ,bear , willie, charlie, john, and jermey]. :)
man what can you say, i stayed and watch the 19t main, and it was a barn burner, phillip and joe was puttin on one hick of a race. congrates to phillip on his new track recorder, and congrate to joe on the 7.0 lap , now who is goin to be the first to hit in the 6's...
Don :D
irvan36mm 04-19-2003, 11:36 PM Bigdon-
It is great to see you & Tim at the track, again! I think that Phil will hit the high 6's first! It seems that his "out-of-town" stuff is better than Malin's "out-of-town" stuff! Until something is done to the HW track surface,I don't think that anyone will get to the mid-to-low 6's.
Congrats to Phil & Joe Malin (and all of the rest of the 19-turn guys, too!)for a great show! 6-cell Nastruck was very fast also! My truck/sled was running really fast in the mains (pulling 7.7-7.8 sec laps w/Spec tires!),it was still a bit wiggly in turns 1 & 2. But I think I've gotten those problem areas solved. Should be ready for Shannon next Friday!
Happy Easter!
-George
joespec 04-20-2003, 06:46 AM Friday night was awesome! Alot of great racing going on! I figured that as soon as Phil started showing up on a regular basis, there would be a big battle in 4-cell mod,......and there was! Joe and Phil put on one of the best shows of the night, through immense traffic as well,......hat's off to Joe and Phil! They showed well to the talents of "Pro"driving,as well as car set-up,and now we also have another option for the oval hounds,6-cell stock truck! Any tire, any chassis,6-cells,any stock motor,no wings, just a 2"max.rear deck spoiler,......and you are racing! Thank you goes to John Pilgrim,he has steadfastly prepped the track on fridays, and has contributed to everyone's good racing. The truck class was fun! Alot of tuning went on that night,to the tune of Shannon and myself turning 30 laps! Everyone else was close behind, and now we see the kind of thrashing in the pits that we are used to seeing,as several racers are now trying to figure out gearing for stock motors,........yikes! Street spec went well, mostly because someone else finally won it! Congrats to Shawn! Sorry Jason, you can't win them all  All in all,a great night of racing! Everyone who wasn't there,.....well,.....what are you waiting for?
JPH Racing 04-21-2003, 01:02 PM Congrats to Phillip on his new track record! He's getting that '03 Maverick Oval Chassis figured out!
Jake
joespec 04-22-2003, 06:20 AM As a note to the 4WD guys, you should take out that short-track that is never used, and put in a couple more turns for your road course,it would be more track for you, less unused space.
hope to see all you guys at tuffys.bring a car for every class.bear
joespec 04-22-2003, 05:59 PM Bear, what time do they start on saturday nights? How much for one,two classes? Thanks! Oh yeah, can you build me a motor that can beat you? :D
joespec 04-22-2003, 06:00 PM Oh yeah again, what classes are they going to run?
BullFrog 04-22-2003, 07:56 PM I'm not Bear but here your answer: Present classes are 4 cell 19t,4 cell stock and Legends. If you have something else make sure there is three or more to make it happen. It $10.00 for the first and $5.00 for the second class. All the money is being put back into the facility like new A/C pits, improved drivers stand and my favorite a new computer area in turn 1(also A/C)with my pits. And yes there are great lights and Boylans soft drinks.Hope that answers your question .
joespec 04-23-2003, 05:04 AM Thanks Bill, I saw Mr.Leon's wife yesterday, she was getting gas,she is such a nice lady! What time do they start on saturdays?
around 5 oclock.you guys bring your spec cars out!keep in mind like bill and i are saying all the money is going back into the the track.....hobby world surely cant say that.all i can say is support the track that suppots you! bear
