How was everyone's Easter ?.. Good food and good time with the family.
Inferno did you get that timing chain done? My bother-in law toasted a engine in that same model car. What I thought was really different is it was front wheel drive but the motor still faced the rear. Made pulling the motor really easy. We just put in a junk yard motor :p

Took the new E-Revo to play with at the in laws and chase the kids around, wow that thing is a blast. I must have just had a lemon 2650kv motor before with my other MMM ESC's because this MMM/2200kv just kept running like a raped ape and coming back nice and cool. I seen 40 minutes of run time with a cool motor and esc.

But the 2200kv mamba monster is the Beast! Castle claims it's the baddest 550 can motor in the world! Which I personally agree, non of the others I used come even close to the mind blowing, paint pealing, tire destroying power that the 2200kv mamba monster produces!

not yet, being a pain! this is the second motor ive put in it, would have been lot eaiser to do it again. all these 2.7L dodge motors are junk, so hate to spend another 1300.00 on another junk motor.

1300.00 is insane we paid like 600 or 700 for a 50,000 motor.
Isn't that motor a Mitsubishi anyway ?

The problem is that the 2.7's are all junk (whether in a car running or at the junkyard). You wouldn't want to have your fingers in the way under the hood at a dealer auction, we all let the hood slam as we are running away from a 2.7

I have owned a couple Dodge's 98 Caravan (3.0L Mist), 2000 Caravan (4 banger) and 94 Shadow(3.0L Mist) . All where great cars no issues other than tires, brakes that normal wear and tear stuff.
My fleet Van is a 2010 Caravan that I already have 110,000.
My Aunt bought a new stratus in 02 and 19,000 miles rod was knocking. (2.7L) They installed a new motor that went again just a couple years later.
After reading that web page I am surprised they are still using that design.

Whats the plan for the track this weekend. Is it closed for maintenance or any chance guys could get some practice laps in on Sunday ?

I have to admit, I left gearing bone stock the 64/18 or whatever and I paired up a couple 2s 5200 in series. I expected a nice 30 MPH.
I remember telling Lewis that down a straight away his Slash 4x4 would be faster.
Took it in the back field and once I learned how to keep the front end down our jaws just dropped. I said Holy *Cow* (replaced with the better 4 letter word) Lewis walked away and said yeah ok.. :p
What amazed me is how cool the motor and ESC was after 25 minutes of ripping up a empty field. Fan on the ESC never turned on and motor was 100ish.

The Problem with the 2.7 engine is a $10 part, the chain guide is made of some sort of plastic composite material, when the chain hits it it does not wear right, it peels pieces of it off which in turn clogs the oil port. The new 2.7's have been fixed. the old ones.....your playin craps with. I had a 99 intrepid, I exploded the motor going down I-75 at 70,000 miles, good thing it had an 80,000 mile warranty on it, i paid $50 for a new motor. Put 40,000 on it with no issues. The old motor was trashed broke the crank, bent lots of valves. trashed the cams, dealer couldn't figure out how I drove it home, then onto the wrecker when they came to get it.

the chain quide is only part of the problem, when it does break, there goes timing chains, cams, valves, pistons, cam sensor, crank sensor, just mearly junk dodge product:) im just going to catch it on fire and watch it burn!

Casey, I may be wrong, but I believe that the E-max only takes grease, unless you have updated to the new sealed diffs, then you can actually use diff fluid. What I don't know is if the new E-Maxx's come with sealed diffs.....

Promatchracer
04-25-2011, 11:18 PM
What does your Shiny super dooper T max have in it for Diffs
Neal said he was talking to you at the lat race and you where talking about better diffs
Unlimited is all I found but I know others are out there
He wants me to get them in for him so he an upgrade an not have a problem at NMRCC if he wants to race the Emaxx instead of the E-revo

tipperjackson
04-25-2011, 11:33 PM
Sealed diffs are the upgrade they allow you to use diff fluid instead of grease. I'll look for the part # and post.

Center diff with 500k fluid part# 3905

tipperjackson
04-25-2011, 11:48 PM
Tell him to show up and I'll show him. Just kidding have the stock diffs but with all steel drive shafts. The center diff kit would help save some of his driveline components, that, and some regular maintenance and re-grease diffs every half gallon of fuel or so, for e guys that would be every 3 or 4 hours of run time or less. You can never give your drivetrain enough attention, kind of like your wife, no matter how much attention you give her it's never enough......LOL!

I bet it is different for the Old style Emaxx
I will call traxxas in the morning and see if the have some old stock stock lying around

JJohnston
04-26-2011, 05:47 AM
The P/N for the center diff is TRA5614, its the same for the emaxx and erevo, just on the erevo they made the idler gear steal.
The Traxxas forums actually have pretty good help when you weed out the newbies. :)

Casey, in my e-revo I use 10k-rear, 30k-front, 300k-center.
But I have no idea if the same should be used in a t-Maxx.
You should google search for setup sheets for that truck that would probably be your best bet, because what works in a E-Revo, my not work in a e-maxx!

tipperjackson
04-26-2011, 02:08 PM
Front diff carriers for sealed diff, part# tra5381, sorry for the confusion, this part# is used for the sealed diffs front and rear. You will need spider gears, spur and pinion also.
