Like I said, I didn't think it would be a problem racing on clay, but I was a little concerned about it at Nmrcc, heck we can go from racing across the sahara desert, to racing the mudbogg nationals from one week to the next!
Hey Norm, I have Novak and castle pinions.
Hey Tipp, do you know if those bearings are shielded? Do I have to clean and relube them regularly?
Reg. maintenance, blow them out occasionally and lube, I usually do everyother race in the dirt seams to work well.

Don't mean to be a party pooper but 60's and rain. I got excited for a second, I thought maybe it would be time to starting the O.S. break in........Guess we'll just wait and see.

Come on warm weather, 8th scale nitro fever, and there's only one cure!!!!!

Well said, just hoping to get the nitro broke in. I like 60 deg or more, helps get engine up to break in temps and yes I know all the tricks to get engine temps up. I don't like cheating the natural process.....LOL!

Well guys mama gave me a great present today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The revo eater. Savage flux, before I even had a set of batts thru it it loosened the pinion gear. All the research says to use red lock tight on the pinion. Guess well see how it hold up. Now just need the good batts and start the up grade process. 5mm tvps, suspension widening kit and 3s battery trays.

tip

doing a lot of reading on breaking motors in, i think your talking about the foil around the head trick?

even in warm ambient temps it is still recommended to run the foil around the head. that way you can get the motor temp up and still run the motor very rich. if you dont use foil you cant get the motor temp up where it should be without running it too lean for break-in.

just what ive read, and makes sense to me.

Yep, I've read the same thing. The key is heating the motor up before start up and they recommend fabric wraps instead of foil, foil dissipates heat as well or better than the fins do. They recomend Baby socks, cotton or wool for best results, also using quality fuels like Byrons with high tech lubrication, so you can lean enough to heat cycle, without hurting the metal parts.

I guess it's all about what makes sense to you and who you want to believe.........

True enough, so which opinion do you choose??????????

I say listen and read all you can, then use a little common sense and make your own decision, and if you make the wrong decision, well, it's only money, you can make more of that.........

The savage flux is sick fast with only 4s 4000mah batts. The only problem they never fixed at the factory with the savage is the wheel base! But TC Crawlers takes care of that with new TVPs and widening kit.

I would like to welcome all who enjoy rc racing and fun to the 2011 NMRCC season thread. This will be our second season at our new facility, located 4 miles west of M-32 on Old Alba Rd, just West of Gaylord, MI. Even though this is our second season at this location, we had formerly been located at the Otsego Co. Fairground for some 20 or so year prior. We have snacks and pop and water availeable at the track. The track has approximatly 840ft race-line, with a 10ft drivers stand 20ft long. We have scoring pro computer lap timer and we offer house transponders on site to use, or you can use your own personal transponders, with a complete race pit ramp, that you drive on and off the race track. We are racers, but formost we are friends and we strive to keep the atmospher family friendly. Normal classes consist of 8th scale, Truggy and Buggy. 10th scale stadium truck, stock SC, mod SC and have had some interest in 2wd buggy. A good size begginners race also.

Thank you, for your interest in NMRCC (Northern Michigan Radio Control Club)

$60 bones and you get the longer tvps and axle extensios. The extensios put more stress on the bearings, but so do offset wheels. $130 bones for the suspension kit.:thumbsup:
