I have 46/15 right now and running 125 deg. I could go 46/16-17 and should only gain about 10-15 deg. But also gain speed. If I go 44/18 I would gain speed, loose a little tork but still run about 130-135 deg.
Maybe I will put the alfastar 2350 motor and run a 46/20 combo.that should give me the speed to woooop Inferno.
Frank, and Revo's 4x4 SC were blowing by me like I was in reverse.

My understanding is, the lower kv, the more torque, less battery consumption, higher the kv, higher top end, faster battery drain.
I've got a 1700kv in both my buggy and Truggy, and honestly don't think either one of them is lacking torque or top end!

Again in my buggy, 1700kv 48t/17t. You seen how that was running! Temped at 148 degrees after the main!

Revo, I believe it to be that way also.
Just seems like I was being passed a lot on the straights and I was full throttle.
Just thinking maybe I have my throttle travel not set high enough.

hmmm.......so mine with a 2200kv with a 46/17t might be a little wicked!

Does your buggy have the same roll out as the sc8?
I would think so but don't know?

after reading and reading today i dont think so, ve8 and d8 have a differnt gearing than the rest of the buggies out there. so im sure its not like the sc8e

I told you to bump up a tooth or two on the pinion, that would make a noticeable difference.

Revo is running a rc8b, all the parts are the same as the sc8, just don't know if the roll out is the same.

yes, its the same as the rc8b, the rc8t is differnt (bigger spur)

I have a 46t spur in the rc8t. I think you should go more with final drive ratio, more so than rollout.

Jbod, I think you may be right. I never had anyone pass me on the straights when I had that, I would try and re bind the esc to the radio and make sure you have all your settings on the controller at 100 percent for throttle and break when you bind. You may not be getting your full throttle from esc and controller.

i was running the 1800kv with 4S and we where side by side the hole straight, my throttle is set for 100%, the only reason i smoked pass him last race was because i put a 2200kv in and used a 6S lipo...LOL, i think thats why his seemed so slow:)

The only problem I've had is servo's. O and this pink blob looking buggy thing getting in my way! I haven't broke anything on the D8 at all this year.
The forums say that the more you drive them the sloppier they get, but the better they settle in? This buggy has been great so far.

Ok, so I recalibrated the rx, and bumped the timing to 20deg, and made the throttle and brake curve liner. Temp is about 160 on motor and 150 on esc, not much more speed!

you wont get the speed you want from that motor unless you bump up to a
5s lipo

Ok done, how bout a 6s?
I know a guy who put his heli in the asphalt and now has a couple extra 6s and 5s betteries till he buys a new heli.

lots of good info here jbod... http://www.rcshortcourse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6782

the 1900 tekin is a buggy motor, the sc8e is a little heavier than a buggy, most guys use a truggy motor in the sc8e's.

RX8 with T8 (Buggy) motors
TT2310 4030 2650kv
TT2311 4030 2050kv
TT2312 4030 1900kv
TT2313 4030 1700kv
TT2314 4030 1400kv

RX8 with T8 (Truggy) motors
TT2320 4038 2250kv
TT2321 4038 2000kv
TT2322 4038 1700kv
TT2323 4038 1550kv
TT2324 4038 1350kv

there is a night and day differnce between a buggy motor and truggy motor, a 1900kv buggy motor on a 6S lipo will be the same as a 2200kv motor with a 3S

Just read thru that forum, and there is a wide range of diff fluids but the gearing seems to be the same as mine. Looks like a higher kv motor for more speed.
I might try and lower the timing and put a 19t pinion on see what the temp is then.
I could also try the 50t spur and the 19t pinion and check temp?
