That's because there is nothing left of them after a race or two on those hard clay tracks.

Geeeeeze............thought i got a good deal on this sc8E and had to spend 380.00 to run it!!! ESC, MOTOR, LIPOS, RX, PINIONS, anyone who says electric is cheaper is lieing!!!! Hope its worth the fun...LOL

06-24-2011, 06:33 AM
I'm not sure anyone every told you it would be cheaper. Less fiddling and less cleaning and easier to tune, not cheaper......LOL!

I can agree with the less cleaning part but that's it. Getting a tune is much more work when you have to worry about pinion size, spur gear, timing, drag brake, motor temp, esc temp, bec, programing, and all the other stuff.
I think electric is much harder to get set up, but then hands off simplicity.

Ooooo and can I plug my battery in backwards and kill the $250 bones I have in the esc!

Casey has first hand experince at this, he let the all important smoke out of his brand new speedo in his 4x4 cuz he plugged it in backwards yesterday so he could"play" with it.....he he he.

how do you plug a battery in backwards??? unless he soldered the connector on wrong

It's really not that hard when you solder the bullets directly to the esc wires. They make connectors for people like me that would plug them in back wards every time.

duely noted!! ill remember not to do that!!

What really throws you a loop is when you use different batteries that have the positive and negative on reverse sides of the batteries. Like one battery has the positive on the right and he other has it on the left, and the next thing you know smoke rolls out.

just found this, Very helpful!!!! i was wondering why everyone was running 4S lipos and not 5 or 6S, found out with a bigger lipo and smaller KV motor will get the same power and be more efficient with longer runtimes and also run cooler (30 to 35 minutes with a 6S lipo and 1700KV motor) why is everyone hooked on 4S lipos and worry about finishing a Main??? just wondered?

I'll sum it up for most people......... Weight, Bulk and Price for another battery or two! Good advice for newbies looking to make there first electric purchase though!

JBOD is correct Inferno, he put bullet connectors on the esc, when he plugged it in he didn't doublecheck, the venom pack he was using is clearly marked but......the battery strap on the SCTE goes right across where they are, you have to undo the strap to make sure, I have almost done the same thing a time or three.

direct plug bullet connectors are the way to go. just one less connection to rob power from the system. Problem is you have to make sure there connected correctly, every time........! :-(

I've been scoping out both 5 and 6 cell Lipos, but they are pricey, and rarely over 5000mah, and they are all 1s1p configuration.

what is 1s1p??

Number of cells in series and number in parallel.
For instance a 7.4 8000mah 2s2p configuration is 4 cells 2 in series and 2 in parallel.

CD hobbies has a great battery assortment and desently priced. Has some higher mah 3-6 cells in stock.
I bought my 7.4 8000mah 2s2p batteries there for $70 a piece.

15t or 16t

I was at CD hobbies last night and they have a 3 pack of novac mod 1 15,16,17 tooth for about $22 bucks. Sonny bought the same set but found out his slash 4x4 has a .8mm or 32 pitch, so he could not use them.
