smoothie 02-27-2011, 09:49 AM I think the break out rule for the sct is a great idea!!
We had a great time yesterday and was very happy to get out of there at 8pm and still run the full program. That means I was able to get home at 10:30 :) Woohoo!
Thanks again for the awesome facility!
Doug_B1969 02-27-2011, 04:34 PM Thank you for coming out to race with us!
I did some testing, and as suspected, 23 seconds seems like the right breakout. we will adjust in small increments if deemed necc. for the class to achieve its goal, but I think its a good starting point.
I posted some flyers at the track, and talked to some people that were good candidates for this class, and the feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive, so I think this may very well be a step in the right direction for this growing segment of the racing hobby.
Im excited to try it, I will likely be giving it a go thursday just to get everything set up, if there are racers present that want to try it. I think you'll be able to drive the wheels off most out of the box SCTs without breaking out. Detuning a faster truck may prove to be a challenge.. we'll see.
blackdragon 02-27-2011, 07:17 PM Any Losi xxx-sct's for sale down there?
Doug_B1969 02-27-2011, 08:30 PM I have seen new ones in the hobby shop, but only one used one, and that was weeks ago.
I did drive someones straight outta the box XXX SCT the other day and was VERY impressed with the way it handled, in its stock config.. nice truck to be sure.
smoothie 02-28-2011, 09:44 AM What was the reason for the lights issue on Saturday? It seemed like it was at 100% light the whole time until the mains started and then it got really dark????? It we are going to practice in 100% lighting and qualify in 100% lighting why not run the mains in 100% lighting? It wasn't that it was a huge issue it just the fact that I think it should stay consistant the whole day.
Doug_B1969 03-02-2011, 08:19 AM We just did it to mess with your head, and to see how long before someone made a post about it on the internet :P
I accidently turned on all the lights saturday morning and my old eyes liked it, so I left them on. The track owner turned them off for whatever reason before the main, and I didn't feel it necc. to go make a case for why we should keep them on for saturday racing..
Next weekend we race with all the lights off for qualifying, and then I am going to shine flashlights in the drivers eyes during the mains. Just to keep it interesting. lol j/k about the flashlight part.
smoothie 03-02-2011, 09:17 AM I think if we put red glowsticks on the tubes and green glowsticks on the cars we should turn out the lights and race!! Just think of how good it would be for the hobbyshop. lol
I thought maybe the lights had something to do with the soccer kids so I wasn't sure. I think the lighting is very good in the building even at 50% and more than enough for the tracks but I was amazed on how lit it was on Saturday.

That would be fun to try out...im in
rob martin 03-02-2011, 03:48 PM Been hearing really good things about this place. Would love to make it to the st pattys day race. Well see though!! Any recent pics of the track.
Doug_B1969 03-03-2011, 12:19 AM With some of the lighting that is available for RC cars now, and the ample power we strap in em, a headlight race would be possible.. and yes, it would be great for the hobby shop :jest:
There is some video floating around youtube but its kinda hard to find. I'll take some pics and throw em up somewhere this weekend, but there will definitely be a track change before the St Pats race, no details yet beyond that it will be significantly different.
We will be racing tomorrow, qualifying starting at 7:00, hope to have some people to run in the breakout class, so I can get an idea if the lap time is going to work..
smoothie 03-03-2011, 09:08 AM looking forward to the track change
superslash4wd 03-04-2011, 12:40 AM This sunday march 6th and monday march 7th the dirt track will be CLOSED for practice because of track renovations. Sorry for the inconvience.
clawsonreptiles 03-04-2011, 01:03 PM Roll call 17.5 stock 2wd truck tomorrow? Have the t4.1 all ready to crash
smoothie 03-04-2011, 05:55 PM can't this weekend but would be interested in stock truck and stock buggy next weekend
clawsonreptiles 03-04-2011, 08:09 PM ok smoothie out this weekend but up down the road noone else? does this mean i win and can save the money?
superslash4wd 03-07-2011, 09:25 PM The offroad track is now open for practice. Racing and practice will resume as it did before, track has been completely redone, nothing is the same at all and the driverstand has also been expanded, track is a blast, hope to see you thier.
smoothie 03-08-2011, 11:02 AM where's the pictures?? :) :)

So no more hot dog?
I'm not saying the hot dog was bad; I was however, wondering, if it was gone. I've never seen anything like it on any track ever. It was clever.

What in the world are you talking about?
kspageddie 03-10-2011, 11:31 PM Had a blast running 1/10th scale truck today...its been a few years since I ran dirt and it shows. The T-4 Brushless RTR is a great truck at a great price...
What in the world are you talking about?
There used to be a, sort of, four foot bump in the turn in the in field. There was, let's say, two feet between the end of the bump and tube. So, drivers had to sneak between the bump and the tube to properly setup for the in field double. It was fun and I called that bump the hot dog. Since, that's, sort of, what it looked like.

Gotcha  I thought maybe you was referring to the banana shape of the straight away. I liked that cause it gave you a place to kinda hide and not get rear ended by guys trying to keep up..
I liked the hotdog too, I kept it tight there and drove over the hotdog and made a ton of time on guys. I guess in 2wd though, going through that gap might have been better. Definitely made for an interesting lane splitter

I could do the double either way. However; made time by going around it. I'm not sure how that worked since May went tight to make time. Perhaps it was a time on the track thing. But going tight was the option if you could make it work. I could not, consistently.
smoothie 03-14-2011, 09:19 AM Had a great time practicing on Sunday  I didn't see a single carpet oval guy there :( There was probably 25 guys practicing off-road :) :) The new track layout if nice and very fast. Although a cool double or triple would be nice or even a big table top at the end of the straight away :) Can't wait for next Saturday.
superslash4wd 03-14-2011, 11:18 PM Ask and you shall recieve.....Dr. dirt is in again this week
kspageddie 03-24-2011, 11:57 PM Doug you ran a great program tonite...4 heats and 17.5 2wd drive truck cound be a huge class and the over all speed is really close to the mod class. I hope we can keep a 17.5 2wd Stock Class and maybe add 2wd 17. Buggy...slow then down a touch and the racing gets better...
See ya Saturday for 2wd Truck and hopefully Mod SCT (if I can drive the darn thing) may need some set up help (hint-hint). Its been years since I drove off road and tonite was the most fun I had seens I have been racings!
Thanks Doug, Brian and ENHobbie!
Ed
gabby 04-05-2011, 09:44 PM You guys run a great program on the off road.As you know I mostly run carpet down there, but since I tried the off road I really have had a blast with SCT and getting a Losi XXX truck ready to try, thanks to Doug.If you guys ever get a dirt oval in there I like to bring down my Blitz late model.See you guys Sat.
kspageddie 04-07-2011, 11:58 PM Doug and Brian ran a really quick program tonite. Lots of fun 3 heats of SCT Mod, 1 Hear of 17.5 Truck/Mod Truck/Buggy (10 cars total)..I tried my best to hold off the mod guys in my little 17.5 Speck Mod T4..
Cant wait to Saturday...
Ed
gabby 04-08-2011, 08:30 PM Sure had a blast Thur. night. Can't wait until tomorrow to try my Losi stadium truck.
gabby 04-13-2011, 09:52 PM Roll Call: Who's racing this Sat? I'm in for SCT Sportsman and Stadium Truck Mod:thumbsup:
Doug_B1969 04-24-2011, 11:37 AM Gabby, Ed, Thanks for the kind words, hope you had fun yesterday, I did :) I think 80 entries is the sweet spot for saturday racing, a few less doesnt hurt anything, and a few more don't either, but it was the right amount of heats and entries to fill the field and have the right amount of time between heats.. plus there are enough people that I can consistently get marshals on the track.. anyway..
As to the stock classes, I think there needs to be a consensus on one class or the other if you want it to be fair, close racing, otherise it will continue to be a stock mixer to make the class.
I will run it if 5 or more entries enter, more than happy to in fact, but stock racing is way more complicated an endeavor now, compared to the 27t brushed days.. what is stock exactly? I think the 17.5 sensored is the only stock motor there is.. but the stock class appeals to alot of the rtr racers, and they could be 12.5 doubles, or sensorless bl motors.. I wish kit manufacturers equipped the vehicles with either a 17.5bl or 27 turn 540 only, and didnt go to sensorless, and 550s like in the slash, losi, and gambler.
I think "sportsman" with a motor limit but no spec motor is a better option.. 17.5 or smaller, 3300kv or smaller, 27 turn brushed, or the RTR 550 motors like the titan, the one in the losi, or the one in the gambler. (drill motors lol) and I think thats the direction I am going to go with it, but am open to ideas, and would like to hear what works at other places.
I think after this points series I am going to scuttle the current breakout format in sportsman sct in favor of this as well. I don't think its fair, I dont think its a good class format, but its the best compromise that allows the sportsman racers to enter the class with their current hardware, or with minor hopefully inexpensive changes.
And now, for the reason I logged in.. I attached a flyer for our next big race, I hope you all can make it out :) Should be our best and biggest event so far, we have some great sponsors and they have provided some super cool door prizes that will be given away randomly to entrants, plus we will be raffling off losi kits, and paying hobby bucks out, rather than giving out trophies.. Im sure that for alot of you a new body, or tires, or whatever from the hobby shop would be better than another plaque or trophy, and if not it can be used towards entries in future races...
This is a modified event, no stock or sportsman classes are offered, but I have a stock/sportsman event in the early planning stages, probably for this fall, Id like to have a set of class rules everyone is comfortable with 1st.. maybe pure roar stock classes and also offer superstock with 13.5 or less (and the closest equivelant sensorless) for the guys that aren't set up for "stock".. again, I'd like to know what works for others..
come to our website www.enhobbies.com for up to date info and questions, and like us on facebook, as I try to keep that updated on a more daily basis.. getting checked into the big RC websites all the time could be a full time job :)

I'm not one to say "I told ya so" BUT..............
I think the best bet would be to contact CRCRC, and the pther major track owners, and try to work out a concrete class structure common to all the tracks, so drivers can go anywhere in Ohio and race without the worry about whether they will fit in a class or not.
Don't forget to mention the first round of the OEOSS series being held there. That should be a nice big turnout that also brings some out of town talent  I'll prolly be down for that one.
Doug_B1969 04-24-2011, 03:04 PM LOL.. yeah, I still have the same misgivings about it as before.. and the breakout has been popular but is attracting the cherry pickers looking to get easy wins.. not the point at all..
I think the sportsman class is what most of the clubs and tracks have adopted.. with broad equipments spec. I intend to run essentially the same class as CRCRC, for the reason you pointed out, to make it easy for racers to go either place. I will likely not allow boost, that would be the only difference I can think of.
and YES! the OEOSS race is coming May 21st!! I don't have series details for 2011 yet but the dates have been set :) Not only are we excited to host the 1st race of the series, but I think I will be able to make at least 4 of the series races myself :) 2 for certain, as long as CRCRC's is on a sunday :)
ALSO, per a previous conversation we had, Kids (the racers kids, not all the neighbors kids) count as a second entry for our saturday races, and the 3rd and every additional entry is $5.00.. so if you were racing two classes, and also bringing your child 40.00 gets it done, or if it was a racer and their kid racing 1 class per it's 25.00 total.. it has been that way a while, I just didn't know the details.. Novice is also the ONLY class I will run with less than 5 racers, and if there are more than 6 racers in novice they get paid hobby bucks like everyone else (Im against that but the hobby shop liked that better than discounting novice entries an extra $5.00) all this stuff doesnt apply to special events, OEOSS wil use its fee schedule, and our own events will be on a case by case basis.
We do ask that parents who bring young children to race (younger than 10) marshal in their place for safety reasons, and be active in parenting / mentoring them throughout the raceday.
I hope everyone is enjoying their Easter Sunday!

Much better with the kids entries
I agree, it's amazing what the Cherry Pickers will do to get a win :drunk: Like the spec classes, they usually find a way to ruin it for everyone.

Doug_B1969 04-30-2011, 11:55 PM 45 Entries today, not too bad for a really nice saturday, I suppose motorcycles, boats, yardwork and etc's probably took up alot of people's day and I know that some of our regular racers are in the process of building their outdoor club track, and we are looking forward to doing a series with them.
All in all I thought it was a good race day, once the new printer decided to cooperate with me.. It was SO nice not to have to hand feed paper into it..
Thanks to everyone that came out! hope to see you back soon :)

I had a good time  Wish I didn't roach my diff in the 3rd qualifier so I could have made the main, but thats how the ball bounces sometimes ;) I'll be ready for the 21st now that I have the settup right. EN hobbies continues to provide a unique track. I really like how the corners all have something going on with them, but yet there's still plenty of room to pass. Can't wait to see what you come up with when the new dirt arrives  Good job guys!!
fastlouie89 05-01-2011, 05:11 PM Fun time yesterday checking out the place. Good time and will be back to run with u guys again.
chiefslasher 05-02-2011, 09:30 AM What tires are working on 2wd MOD SCT? What time do you guys start on Saturdays?
Doug_B1969 05-04-2011, 05:31 PM M4 Suburbs, or any similar tire tread in a soft(est) compound. I see lots of people running ribbed tires on the front. Sorry I can't be more specific but I dont race SCT.. for buggy and truck we've been running BK Bars, HB Beams, J-Con Bar Codes, etc.. all in the softest compounds.
We open the doors at 8:00AM, and the official starting time is noon, though when the turnout is light I sometimes push it till 12:30 or so.
badassrevo 05-18-2011, 10:06 PM OEOSS should be fun.
icameron 05-19-2011, 06:54 AM This will be my first time going to EN hobbies for the first race of the OEOSS series, looking forward to checking the place out.

Myself, Steve, Louie, Kwang, Ian, your boyfriend Brandon, Jayce, Marsh, Shay, prolly lots of guys I'm forgetting....plus cbus fast guys like Black, Shaw, Goins, Porter and others are all racing 4x4 now too with real trucks.....
You should prolly just stay at home.....you are looking at mid-top of the C main for an optomistic finish....too much competition for you..it would cramp your trash talking for sure  The 4x4 buggy class is usually small, maybe you could make the A in that
cbrociuos 05-19-2011, 02:47 PM my trash talking is never contingent on my winning! ive found it works the same win or loose. we'll see about your mid c main prediction come sat. just make sure to bring your a game!

I don't need to bring my A game. See, I'm already the returning CHAMPION, as will be signified by my RED number 1 plates on my truck. Everyone there is gunning for what I already have......so there's no pressure on me...I've been to the top of the mountain already  Besides, the series is stacked against me this year anyways.....I'm a MUCH better outdoor racer than indoor, and two rounds are indoor this year...and I can't make it to the Newark round so there will be no dropping of the indoor races for me, and there's still not a Medina round on the schedule where I'm always good at, so the margin for error is razor thin....so I'm just there for the fun this season. If I happen to do well, then thats just icing on the cake, but I'm certainly not as hungry for a championship this year as I was last
