there will be some people there that aren't on this forum, Curtis has typically been there on thursdays, as well as a handful of other racers. We'll definitely run races with whoever is there, and I hope to see the turnout rise once we post some info around the track about the revised Thursday program.

Im not sure about your gearing and esc question, other than start pretty low on the gearing. On saturdays there are a number of losi truck racers running that speedo, and there will be people there with laptops to adjust them if you aren't bringing one. The straight isn't very long, the way the track is set up right now I'd say about 105 feet or so, so top speed isn't that crucial of a factor, smooth and driveable with good punch is what you need, with an 8.5 you should have the punch part handled.

I'll ask tonite if I see someone running a similar setup, and let you know what I find out.

Some more info on the St Patty's Day Races.

Plaques for Off Road A Main positions 1 thru 10. Positions 1-3 in lower mains.

Plaques for Oval 1-6 in the A mains, 1 & 2 in the lower mains.

Oval Warm Up on Wed. the 16th of March, 6PM till finished.

Off Road Warm Up Friday the 18th of March, 6PM till finished.

The cost of both warm up races are $10.00 for the 1st entry, and $5.00 for the second and any additional entries. These will be abbreviated programs with 2 qualifiers and a main.

Mod and Stock classes will be offered on offroad, ESC's must be set to non boosted when applicable in stock classes, to conform with the spirit of the "stock" class.

The Oval program will use the "house" rules, which is the Tour Rules package, with slight modifications to the 17.5 Sportsman Truck class, allowing open single cell battery, and open tire choice.

Off Road will use current ROAR rules, with exceptions made on sensorless motor systems, and ROAR approval on batteries. Batteries should be hard case style 7.4 Lipos or their LifPo or NIMH equivalent.

SCTs must use SCT wheels, 1/8th scale wheels will not be allowed.

The Off Road Warm Up is open only to racers registered to race in Saturdays St Patty's Race. There will be no general or open practice available Friday, Saturday or Sunday for non entrants.

Entry Includes T-Shirt and a light lunch.

Hope to see ya there!

Clay Suburbs work good sometimes, I don't know if people are running the goosebumps or not on SCT, but I would just bring all the indoor tires you have. I like beams on my buggy and truck, Switches worked well on the 2wh truck too.. Ive never raced a 2wh SCT so I dont know much about them..

The track has changed a decent amount since the hangover race, but it isn't significantly more or less difficult. Maybe not quite as fast, and a little more technical.. you'll like it :)

As to the earlier question for the losi truck.. still no good info.. I think with a 10.5 I am at a 21/78.. maybe a bit too low if anything.. trying to keep the LRP motor from frying like an egg.. there wasnt anyone there running the tekin esc.

Ok can't wait. Does EN have house transponders for sportsman classes? Father in law don't own one yet.

Doug_B1969
02-11-2011, 12:26 AM
Yes, we have public transponders available for all classes. We only have one complete rack so it has to be a priority to make sure they get put back in the rack, but they are there and available.

I should know this.. I looked at the flyer today lol.. I am 90% positive it was 35.00 1st entry, 25.00 each additional. If Im off its not by much and the flyer should be available in the next day or two. We are also getting set up for RC signups, for you guys that like that better.

7AM Doors, controlled practice until the 11:30 Drivers Meeting, Quals start at noon. Resort after second round, no bump ups, single A mains.

There will be extra pit space available for the weekend of the race, and the track will be changed up some before the warm up race.

I will make sure the flyer gets posted up here and other places around the web, and it should be up on ENs site as well, once it has been finalized.

I know it is kinda short notice, but I hope you all can make it :)

WOWSERS...35$ and 25$? These better be some SWEET plaques ;)

What's the sign up fees for kids in novice for this race?

Doug_B1969
02-11-2011, 09:08 AM
Researching the entry fees for similar events on RC signups I see entry fees ranging from 30.00 to 40.00, most with no breaks for the second entry. I do not believe we are out of line on pricing.

There are no plans that I am aware of to offer reduced rate to Novice / Rookie drivers for this event. This also seems to be in line with the vast majority of other trophy races I have been to, and also in line with current trophy races on RC sign ups.

Come win 2 classes at a regular race and your entry is 5.00, after applying the 30.00 Hobby Bucks you'd win for that. Heck, take second in two races and pay normal race fees for your entry..

I am actually buying a new truck tonight so I can run the stock class, I think it will be fun!!!

Doug_B1969
02-11-2011, 10:45 PM
Awesome, glad to hear about the new truck, and it was good meeting you thursday night. Next thursday should see some more racers, and will be starting on time. I got caught in traffic getting there, and again once I was in the building :)

All things considered, the two mains we ran thursday night were pretty decent, it was a good mix of drivers and both were competitive.. Ill run smaller heats (smaller than the 5 minimum on a standard raceday) of seperate vehicles as long as we can get by on fewer marshalls, or get some volunteers to cover the biggest problem spots. With few racers we arent in a hurry, and with more I can run bigger quals and still seperate everyone by class.

Jar- yeah, after giving it some thought, once you can crank timing into it, its a modified.. stock racing should be straight 17.5 stock motor, may the best driver and chassis tuner win. Well, that, and I talked to some of the guys that were at the january race about the stock class there, and my impression was that most stock racers wanted it non boosted. You shouldnt have to go buy the tekin esc and a laptop to be competitive in stock racing..

I want to see the stock 2wh truck class start to get some entries, alot of the regulars said theyd race whatever everyone else was racing, you know how that goes lol..

I am in need of some help setting up my tekin rs pro speedo. I bought the hotwire and tried to install it on my laptop tonight but cant get it to work. It might have something to do with running 64 bit windows bit I'm not sure. I will bring my laptop today and hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure you can find some help there, on saturdays there are quite a few people that run them. 17.5 open carpet is gaining interest, and Ill bet a few of those guys are running them too.

Find myself or brian if you have any trouble getting help, I do PC work for a living and have used 64 bit windows alot so I may be able to help with installation issues too.

Yes, it officially kicks off this coming thursday, but we did run a couple races on a casual basis last thursday. I had a typo in my original post that pushed it a couple months in the future.. its what happens when I try to post coherently after a day of racing :P

Quals start at 7:00PM on thursdays, racers should be there and signed up by 6:30, but the track is open all day if someone wants to show up early.

jar
02-13-2011, 09:42 PM
Do you run touring cars too?

Doug_B1969
02-13-2011, 10:09 PM
Well, thursday is a day that the touring track is set up, but last thursday there were not any there at all, so no. If enough showed up that wanted to race, then sure, we'd put em in the program, the more the merrier.

From what I've seen, the touring scene is almost nonexistent in this area, a few dedicated guys, but I think a permanent road course would be needed to attract new people into those classes, and I think it is difficult to make the investment in dollars and floor space, when the temporary road course has pulled in a big flock of nothing.

This isn't a slam on touring cars or the drivers that have shown up to race there, I like TC alot, and have raced nitro and electric outdoor at CORCAR back in the day.. if I felt there was a crowd of people waiting somewhere to come race them I'd be championing the cause.. that's not really the impression I get, unfortunately.

One of my racing buddies brought me down sat. The WHOLE facility from the shop to soccer field the pit and the tracks are ABSOUTLY amazing. Doug ran a smooth program even with a small set back. It went smooth. Hobby shops priced for be relatively available. But understandable. Got to keep the lights on somehow, beside the turn outs. We have a lot of us from lima coming down sat the 26th. Look forward for it all again. Great atmosphere keep up the great work.

I had a great time racing on Saturday. I really enjoyed being home at a somewhat decent time  I noticed on the carpet forum that they painted a starting grid. Is there any way we can get the numbers repainted on the dirt? The mains were a little sloppy on the starts I thought because no one really knew where to line up. Thanks again and I can't wait to get back.

Crash- Thanks for the kind words and I am glad you enjoyed yourself :)

We have many improvements planned both in the short and long term, as well as some fun events planned, both big and small. The goal is to offer an unrivaled racing experience to both new and expert level racers, 12 months a year, no rain outs, no mosquitoes, no 110 degree days.. we still have alot of work to do to get there, but I feel we are off to a good start :)

A couple things worth noting, if you purchase a kit at the hobby shop, you get a 1 month practice pass free, which allows unlimited practice time on weekdays, and includes Thursday night off road races as well. This is especially useful to people that live locally.

If you compete in an A Main with 6 or more entrants (other than as a novice) and finish on the podium there is a payout in hobby bucks, $15.00 for a 1st, $10.00 for a 2nd, and $5.00 for a 3rd, which can be used to enter races at a later date, or on purchases made at the hobby shop.

I think they are open to listening to reasonable offers on some items as well, and if you have good suggestions on items that should be in stock they are willing to listen. I've seen the whole place come a long way in a short time, and it was already good when I first saw it.. I think one day it will be a "destination" track.. time will tell.

Not a problem the place is a amazing.if I didn't live so FAR away I would call it my second home for sure. :) that was my next question what was the plan during the summer when racers perfer the outside racing, I was hoping you guys wasn't a seasonal track. And I'm glad you year round racing. :) :) :). Can't wait for us to comw down like mentioned earlier and the St. Patty's day race. Any deals for 21 birthday guy that weekend even though its on the 18th lol. Could be out doing something very dumb rather be racing!!!!!!!

Doug_B1969
02-14-2011, 09:00 AM
I can sing "Happy Birthday To You" over the PA, out of key and badly :) lol..

No we aren't seasonal, and we will be running the race program all year. I think having some fun events and maybe a big race in the hottest part of the summer (The Air Conditioning Race LMAO) to help draw racers in.. we know attendance will go down some but then we also expect some crowds on rain days, super hot days, etc.. and if it's anything like last years weather, we may have rain days every weekend, here in Ohio :P

Yeah, Jar is right, having your own forums is a nice feature, but it in no way will be a substitute for posting here. Look at the CRCRC forums as an example, near zero traffic. You'll get 100 to 1 more hits posting info on here. Trying to divert traffic from HT to a private forum always has been, and always will be, a lost cause.

I think it will be better as a clearinghouse of information, as opposed to this lengthy thread, but really only a small percentage of RC racers use hobbytalk.. some more are on RC groups, and even more on RC Tech.. ad in the brand centric sites like losi, associated, traxxas, etc and everyone is everywhere.. trying to keep info consistently posted at all the popular sites could be a full time job!

If it is able to be used as a reference point, and linked by individuals as needed, I think it will fulfill its purpose :)

I am here today to spread some info regarding SCT Racing at EN Hobbies and Raceway.

1st, thursday racing is alive and well, and you are invited to come check it out. Cost is 10.00 for your first class, same as a day of practice, and second classes are 5 bucks. The price of your 1st class is included in the cost of a practice pass as well.

We run 2 quals and a main, starting at 7pm.

Second, we have had alot of discussion recently about what to do with RTR SCT vehicles that don't fit 'stock' class rules (17.5 BL, no boost) and aren't up to speed with the average modified SCT.. I'll save the lengthy discussion on what constitutes "stock" racing, and for this discussion we'll use ROARs guidelines regarding this.

Enter "Pro Sportsman SCT". This is an "open" class, no specific hardware restrictions, beyond the normal class rules for SCT, but it will have a break out lap set, on our current track it will be 23 seconds I believe, though I am going to do some testing 1st to make sure that is a good number.

For those of your unfamiliar with this concept, with a 23 second breakout, if you turn a faster lap than that, it will not count, and your next lap will be counted at 46 seconds+.. so a vehicle that can consistently turn 23.1 second laps is ideal. You will be allowed to detune a faster truck to take part in this, but its main appeal should be the guys with XXXsct's, Slash's, etc.. as well as 17.5 equipped SCTs, although in the right hands it would be pretty easy to break out with one that was set up right I think..

This is not to rule out the possibility of a true ROAR stock class, we will run that when there is enough interest (if ever) but there is no other way to level the playing field without putting one brand or another at an advantage, or excluding drivers, based on truck configuration.

This is NOT open to 4X4 SCT or 2WD buggy or stadium truck.

Full details will be available at the track prior to this weekends racing, and posted as time allows. The name may change, the lap time may change.. I'm interested in feedback on this, so sound off if you have something constructive to add.
