This is why there was talk of a bunch of us goin to start running mod sc. Sometimes running in the stock heats, it gets a little rough if the turnout aint great enough to make an A and a B.

Leonard 10-07-2010, 12:20 PM This is why there was talk of a bunch of us goin to start running mod sc. Sometimes running in the stock heats, it gets a little rough if the turnout aint great enough to make an A and a B. Mike Champ 10-07-2010, 12:53 PM sorry for the lost skin revo. scars do look cool jk. my only comment is GUYS we are here to help. if your having truble with setup, tires or the track please ask us. its half the reason i race. Not to sounds harsh, but it starts with the way people drive their cars and behave in general... Not Setup... Setup will help, but unless you have a setup that allow people to steer FULL throttle and keep the line they want anywhere on the track (which is NOT happening, since even the Pros are slowing down for corners...), this kind of incident will still happen... Glad at least it was a tough guy and not a 10yr old novice racer there... (Sorry to say that REVO...lol) I think they are good constructive comments REVO... How about a Driver's meeting on each race day? Just 2 minutes will be enough... But we all know taht the problem is you can't get the meeting to be that short because it takes people 15min to be there at the driver stand when you call up the meeting... Doesn't that tell you anything about the people behavior though?... You have to work on people's behavior in order to resolve this... I would say in order to get people to LISTEN at the driver's meeting, have the list of the heat, and check that people are here when the driver's meeting is held. If they don't answer their name, they can skip the first race... (Race director can actually make them NOT count their laps)... Or dock them a lap... Make it count if they don't show up!!! they will learn fast... It's too bad that you have to play Cop's game to get people to do what is best for the group... It's still the same issue as always, everybody wants the day to go well, but not everybody wants to do what it takes to do it because it is less fun to follow rules that actually benefit the group... Just food for thoughts for those won't don't really agree, don't need an argument about what I think, just saying what makes sense to keep things under control, in my opinion... If you can make a constructive comment about the situation and solution to resolve this kind of issues, feel free... Any other post is not needed. Thanks, Mike Revo 10-07-2010, 01:14 PM I think every comment thus far has merit. We have special rules when 1/8th scale electric buggies are racing. How much difference is there between that and a 4 x 4 Slash? Not much when its ripping past you wide open. Do we need different rules for SC? Maybe the answer is a blend of all of that stuff. The fast drivers should be going to the new drivers and helping them with setups. Teach them how to get their RC to turn or get good traction. Then transcend that to the track and help show them the way to go fast around the track without driving outside their ability. Slow is sometimes fast, ever hear that one? We all have and its true. Each of us who have race experience should be mentors for the newer racers. We all want the same thing in the end, to be safe, have fun, be fast, and have as much competition as possible on the track. Also, I did get an apology and found the rest of my skin. Its in the past, and I am very happy it wasn't a child that got run down or they could have gotten hurt pretty bad. EL HEJA 10-07-2010, 01:44 PM Hey, Sorry to hear about your injuries Revo, But, we all acquire injuries during intense racing that takes place at the Track. We all feel bad for you() and anyone else that get injured at the track due to insufficient driving skills. I to have acquired injuries during marshaling and on the driver stand from the "pros" bad attitudes. It seems every time I check this thread I see the same people with issues when it comes to someone not in there "CLICK" doing something wrong or not driving to the "pro" standard. My skill level is not that of a Pro and I need to be marshaled every now and then, but, I sure am having a great time while I'm doing it where ever I am, I think that is what matters most next to safety. Revo your Idea of having a Novice SC and a "pro" SC class is a good Idea. Your right the Drivers should keep it a safe environment but it has to stay FUN (with out animosity or being ridiculed on hobby talk about an error at the track) ehartman_49348 10-07-2010, 02:09 PM How about a Driver's meeting on each race day? But we all know taht the problem is you can't get the meeting to be that short because it takes people 15min to be there at the driver stand when you call up the meeting... Doesn't that tell you anything about the people behavior though?... Even though I mostly agree with a driver's meeting, experience tells me that after the first 20 seconds, not that many people really pay attention anymore. That is not just locally, even at large events. I am not saying that I have a better solution, just providing my input.... Revo 10-07-2010, 02:45 PM Hey, Sorry to hear about your injuries Revo, But, we all acquire injuries during intense racing that takes place at the Track. Your right the Drivers should keep it a safe environment but it has to stay FUN (with out animosity or being ridiculed on hobby talk about an error at the track) Thanks, but as I said, I will be fine. Actually happy it was me and not a 10 year old. I must admit, this hobby is fascinating. I have been involved in many different sports/hobbies over the years and competed at high levels in all of them. I am amazed by the number of people who have issues with just about everything that goes on in RC. Makes me want to go back out on the PBA Tour again instead of race. Not! I will put this all in a nutshell here, I think there needs to be a balance between old and new, fast and slow, advanced and beginner, and find a way to bring them all together and work for a common goal. How do we do it? Its all about the racers working together to make everyone better I think. Revo 10-07-2010, 02:51 PM Information on the Michigan State Championship Race is now available here: http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?p=3512539#post3512539 Uncle E 10-07-2010, 03:00 PM Already got it gooped up. No I said "Puss" not.....whatever! Uncle E 10-07-2010, 03:10 PM We discuss these topics here that's what the forums are for. This is an issue at just about every track. CRCRC for example, they've set up special rules. I get your points and each is valid. I think you'll agree that if we are going to go in a direction as a group of racers..... we will tend to improving rather then just let it be what it will become. EVEN if some have their feelings hurt. I'm pretty sure this is all Twitches fault anyway. EdP 10-07-2010, 03:19 PM No I said "Puss" not.....whatever! should see a dr. about that, antibioticst will fix you up Uncle E 10-07-2010, 04:03 PM If I were to persay stop by friday night, would I pretty please be able to run a couple of laps with the truggy outdoors???? fo shizzle. Fair warning many stakes poking out still....vehicle destroyers for sure Leonard 10-07-2010, 05:17 PM My earlier comments should NOT be takin as criticisms . Everyone has seen an influx in short course entries with some youngsters and newbs. Which is a good thing to get more in the door and get them hooked on RC. It is just that is the class that happens to have the widest spectrum of racers in it. From new guy off the street to professional (Munson ) . You see this more than in buggy or stadium. If there is not enough people for a novice class then where do they go? So at times it is novice and stock sc at once. But a temper or two has flared in the past because of the chaotic nature that type of environment promotes. I have been guilty myself . So some of us were gonna run mod sc and let stock sc be a breeding ground for the new guys and gals to learn and advance as a group. Everyone there knows me and knows i am very approachable and I help people with sc stuff regularly. I want them to have fun driving a vehicle that is set up the way I have fun doin it. We all had to start somewhere and this generation just happens to be starting in short course. So they need the room to grow like we all did. Like I said these are not complaints. Getting new people coming threw the doors is a good thing. It seems lately people are driving stupid. and its not just the new guys, we have all done it. Im just as guilty as anyone else when it comes to yelling at a marshall. It happens. you do it during a race, and afterwards you cool down and realize you were wrong. I know when im having a bad race, I can lose my cool just as much as the next guy. As far as the driving goes, seems like since about the MORL race at PG people have really just started driving different. I have noticed this as well in the SC class. now beating and banging is normal for this class, its the nature of it. but when you get taken out by lap traffic for no reason- not saying all the time, because it happens to everyone its just certain times. or someone thats just driving dumb, then its an issue. I know people can drive better than that, we race with each other all the time, and once again, im guilty as well. There comes a point when you just have to sit back and let everything unfold and just take the race one step at a time, rather than just tear through the field and go for it. An example of this would be last week at AMS. We were running open SC, and what a cluster that was. I had times I was taken out by guys that were on the other parts of the track, they literally wrecked all the way from 30 feet away and somehow ended up taking me out 1 - 2 lanes over. anyways, I had got to the point where I knew where the moving chicanes were at and was able to predict what they were going to do, so much as to the point of approaching a corner, they are on the inside, and by the end of the corner they had changed lines 2-3 times. The point to this all is - We all need to be concious of the other guys racing, even the guys that are coming around to put a lap on someone. basically if you are running a race and you are lapping someone, give them time. dont just barrel through and expect them to move over for you. You have to be strategic about things or else it just makes it worse for everyone. slow down a bit, give it a couple corners and see how the other person drives, then you can calculate what they are going to do and approach it better. and the same goes for the guys that you do come up to lap or you know that someone is faster. just keep going with the flow, try not to get in the way, and try not to take them out. if you let people go that are faster, you can follow them around the track and learn why they are faster. if its setup then thats fine, if its driving then try new lines. dont hesitate to come and ask questions or be afraid to check people stuff out. thats why we are here. I do as much as I can to help everyone else out, same goes for when I need something. I know I can ask people questions and they have an answer or are willing to try and help. I think most people realize that I will do anything I can to try and make there car better or try to give some form of advice. the last thing any of us want to see is people struggle and get frustrated with the car and quit running. Everyone has to start somewhere. we have all been there, I know it took me a long time to get to where im at today, and I still make mistakes all the time and have alot to learn and improve on. it doesnt just happen overnight. I dont think having the classes seperated would be effective. your basically telling people that they arent good enough to run with the other guys that are faster, and that will draw people away, because they go and say whats the point of racing. I think its ok to let everyone run together. Your not going to get better or learn how to drive better unless you are running on track with people that are faster than you. We have the mains, that is enough of a separation to sort out fast guys from the rest of the field. the best thing anyone can do is get track time. you can never have enough of it. Uncle E 10-07-2010, 10:09 PM I think everyone is all jacked up that we are indoors again and jockeying for position so tensions are high. We can just chill out in the coming races since the track isn't dialed yet, and the real competion doesn't even have his buggy built yet! Dont take it the wrong way, im not calling anyone out. Bottom line is, things happen.everyone has taken someone out at some point. It happens, not the first time and im sure it wont be the last. Its more common in SC because of the trucks. Try beating and banging with a buggy. Good luck. All im saying is everyone needs to be smart on the track, dont just drive stupid. Also alot of this can be avoided with anouncing. The anouncer needs to call out where the leader is on track, as well as fast cars on track so everyone knows where you are at on track. Mike, still unsure on tires. Havent really found a tire that stands out from the rest. Hope to see everyone saturday for the BR 3 race. Should be a great day of racing. That's why the major company's like Tekin are coming out with software in there speed controls that have a SpecMode in them so drivers don't have to compete with the big dogs with timing advance. I think PG should think about having spec classes maybe just in Stock Shortcourse and see what happens. You mite be surprised how many guys ( That can't drive that well) will want that class.
