J-Dub Racing 07-08-2010, 05:13 PM Jody-
You are 100% correct. Running the new body in 13.5 will gain speed and make it more like 10.5 last year. That is why we are all saying move the classes down. 17.5 becomes what the old 13.5 was last year (prior to MAMBA) thus making it the biggest class (i would put money on it being the biggest class if that is the direction TOUR goes). This will make it like the stock class...setup, line, and driving. 13.5, and 10.5 become the "top" classes, and the trucks are the budget/spec/new guy class.
Again this is all speculation on what TOUR does, but like I said before it is not going to make everyone happy.

dudleysdad07 07-08-2010, 05:18 PM Shew! I just wanna know what batteries and body's to buy for this season. That's all.....
WLMaye 07-08-2010, 06:27 PM Guess we'll have to disagree on this one..If the body is changed in 13.5 from the COT to and open body it will have a lower turn out for races.. (changing the body will gain the class at least a lap if not more discouraging racers from running the class).10.5 and open mod need the open body rule..but 10.5 needs rules on the body..leave open mod alone..its open mod, they can run what ever they choose...i dont see a problem with having 1 truck class,2 cot classes and 2 open body classes....
I do not see 13.5 open body being an entire lap faster than COT, in fact last year Mike Russell was running a THD while waiting for the bodies you were painting and he felt the extra downforce actually slowed him down.
The reason for TOUR had 13.5 COT to start with was to differentiate the classes visually, it was to be the new stock class. Joel is right, all we're saying is move the classes up, so 13.5 becomes the new 10.5 and 10.5 become the new 7.5, 17.5 will be the stock class. Then at larger tracks like the birds guys might want to run open mod.
Most tracks will run 17.5 trucks, 17.5 COT Stock, 13.5 (like 19 turn), with 10.5 being like Mod.
I'm actually thinking of running both 17.5 and 13.5 and will be testing 13.5 with a nascar body this weekend. If I pickup a lap with a body change I'll let you know. Maybe we could get some guys to do the same test so we can just see how much of a difference it really is so that we no for sure.

RCThunder 07-08-2010, 07:27 PM Couple thoughts I have on this:
COT 13.5 was a big class last year at a lot of races (and the biggest class at the 'birds last year with around 90 I think). My feeling is to leave it around for another year, as racers have cars, notes, setups they can go back to... And I am afraid that 13.5 Stock car with wing will be very close to the same speed as 10.5 and we will be asking ourselves why have two classes that are almost the same speed (basically splitting racers). Least with the body difference it keeps it appealing. The 17.5 stock car class to me is great as you won't need a wing, and it is a simple mount and go. They look cool too and let's racers race all the great looking bodies out now. COT is not for everyone, I hear it a lot, as some just hate the body. Leaving the class as is for another year to me makes the most sense and basically adding the new 17.5 stock car class keeps things pretty much the same as last year.
Not meant to debate with guys opinions - just wanted to throw some of my thoughts out there.. thanks!

Well with that we should leave it as it was at the TOUR National race 17.5 COT, 13.5 COT.
Bodies aren't the biggest issue because they're relatively cheap and anybody can get one and mount it... so at this point it's pure preference.
Electronics, Batteries that's a whole different can of worms. What I want to know is what, if anything, is going to be done by TOUR or race promoters to keep new technology from being the factor that determines the outcome of an event? Who's going to look out for oval racing and the racers interest?
I think that's the biggest issue... not what body we're going to run.
Here's an idea... Mike, why don't you and Russell post the rules your going to run at the Birds and the Ovalmasters and we'll all just run that.

katf1sh 07-08-2010, 09:30 PM we (oval racers) have no idea what we want! this should not be up for debate...
tour took the bull by the horns and threw down a set of rules for oval racing.
tour again needs to take the bull by the horns and lay down our 2010/2011 rules asap.
please do not open this up for discusion ...we all want what caters to us...we only vote for what is best for me me me ......you will never get all of us to agree on a damn thing!
i also would like to have just one season be the same from one year to the next...
i beg you guys (tour) DO NOT LET THIS BECOME A OPEN DEBATE AND ALLOW US TO SCREW OURSELVES FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON......
stick to your guns and go with what you had planned..let the brl and anyone else do what they need to do......we need a touch of stability
if cot dies than that is what the racers decided if 10.5 dies than that is our deal..
i think most of us would like solid battery rules and maybe a esc rule let us sort out what class becomes the largest this year.
truck
17.5 open esc and nascar body
13.5 cot open esc
10.5 open esc nascar body and no restrictions on esc's (the new pro class)

Strong words from the guy who started the thread in the first place!!! LMAO!!!!
dudleysdad07 07-08-2010, 11:49 PM .............. brain fart guys. sorry!
mr_meat68 07-09-2010, 12:02 AM dear tour,
POST THE RULES ALREADY... even if they're wrong
thanks.
:D
RonThomas 07-09-2010, 02:02 AM I ran the 17.5 open speedo, open body stock car class with no big wing at my last carpet race and that was the funnest racing I have had in years. that class is slow enough to race but not so slow its boring. I personally hate the COT body cause I can never mount it right but I know som like it.
my list
tour truck (camping world trucks)
17.5 stockcar (nationwide series)
13.5 COT ( Cup series)
10.5 Mod

You know what I am not a huge fan, but I could def see the appeal to this lineup from the "fan" or prosective racer.
Whatever TOUR does I will be happy to follow the rules.
killerkoncepts 07-09-2010, 09:40 AM I'd like to see the rules posted before the 1st of august.
IvanF 07-09-2010, 11:15 AM WHO is TOUR? why is it that they tell us what we want to race. Just race what YOU want. If you dont like it fly planes. Seriously why do we care what they do down south or up north?!?!?!?!???. keep the cost DOWN, dont worry about the Snowbirds or Tour bc they keep changing anyways. Personally boylan has really KILL oval racing for everyone by switching the rules every single year. KEEP costs DOWN so guys can afford it.
katfish is a tool who from reading 15 of his posts is a blow hard. Hey katfish what experience do you have running a race or making rules? did you ever own a track?
matt_s86 07-09-2010, 11:28 AM Now THAT's how to troll on a forum! WTG IvanF... :drunk:
I'm agreeing with Cory F. at this point. Just lay down the rules and get everybody out of antsy mode.
RCThunder 07-09-2010, 02:59 PM Oh My LOL!
Squeezel 07-09-2010, 05:21 PM I have been following this thread for several years now, not because I race, (I did consider it at one time) but because, I was interested until I saw all the "opinions". Just thought I would see if I made the right choice? What have I learned? Oval racers have drove out ROAR and ARCOR, but now at a last resort, they have the TOUR. What I have seen with this is the same people that ridiculed ARCOR, embrace the TOUR rules. COT body? When ARCOR wanted it for a Spec Class it was shot down quicker than a duck during hunting season. ROAR doesn't even consider Oval Racing, but the TOUR embraces many of their rules. I have to agree, the rules for the TOUR are based to much on the Snowbirds and the Oval Masters, not on what the local or home tracks may run.
mr_meat68 07-09-2010, 07:01 PM i'm gonna post that same message everyday untill they're posted
