I am looking into getting a new ESC for 1 cell 13.5 COT and was wondering if the Castle creations mamab one cell is leagal ??? I'm presently using a 4 cell GTB.

Legal for Tour only races, but not for BRL (this year). The BRL final is a tour race and as I understand it the Mamba wont be legal at that race.

I just don't see how this can work the birds was a TOUR event and we could use them and at the finals we not be able to???

The BRL Finals is not the TOUR Finals. It is the third of four events which count towards the overall TOUR Points Championship. But it is a BRL event first and foremost. The TOUR Championship is best 3 of 4 so no one is forced to run the BRL Finals if they prefer not to.

The BRL has a tradition from our beginning to do our best to limit the need for racers to spend money to chase new technology introduced after the start of a season. The ESC's with dynamic timing capability (Mamba 1 cell, Black Diamond, Tekin software 203, etc) weren't available to the general public at the start of our season so we aren't permitting them to be introduced during the season. While on the subject, we also aren't allowing the TP and Epic 50C packs for the same reason. They weren't available to start the season.

Those are our rules. To us it doesn't make sense that the ESC needed to win changed dramatically from the first TOUR event, the Ovalmasters to the second, the Snowbirds. Why spend to buy additional ESC's or batteries and end up in the same position relative to everyone else? But we aren't pushing that our rules be adopted by anyone else and we aren't forcing anyone to compete in our series. But if you want to run with us, you'll have to follow our rules.

BigChuck I applaud your commitment to following a set rules package and not caving in to the pressure. If I lived closer to your series I would certainly support it.

I see no reason to take a step backward from the rules of the other 3 races.its just to bad that the 4 race setup is now not as fun as I wished it was going to be. There is no doubt that the introduction of the new esc's have caused some issues in RC world. But lets not let this problem over shadow the good that has happen this year. Racing from one track to another and one side of the country to the other is closer now than it has been in years. I think it will only be better next year.

Chuck has done what he feels is best for the BRL series, no one can fault him for that. He offered to pull the BRL finals from the TOUR series because of the esc issue. I did not feel that was nessasary, that is how the best 3 out of 4 came about.

The one thing I have learned is that no matter what is done everyone can not be made happy. What we are striving for is what is best for Oval and try to have what the majority wants to run.

I along with everyone involed in the TOUR appreciate your support and input. Hope to see you at a race soon.

Brock aren't you on Tekin? Just put the other software in it. If you aren't on a Tekin just have Behler loan you one. I can't see how the speedo thing is a "step backward". All it is is slower vs. faster and new expense vs. no new expense. If you want to go faster run 10.5 or 7.5. It's not like we're running mechanical speed controls, Mabuchi motors and tuning our cars by hitting them with stone hammers! lol
