Only flashlights here are my B4's, 1/8 is still nitro for now.
I plan on building a truggy in the spring but it will most likely be nitro.
My racing this summer will be a mix, working on getting ready for the nats.

At this point, the plan is to practice Wednesday evenings and race Saturday. We are building the outdoor track first and then following with the indoor. If it is nice we race outside, raining inside - that way no rain outs

I really can't wait for indoor next season, as it has been far too long since I raced indoor dirt at a local track.

Hey guys, for those not familiar with Granger we are just minutes from the Mishawaka exit on 80/90 tollway. The track is very close (3/4 mile) to pizza, restaurants, fuel, camping, groceries etc. and has three hobby shops within 10 miles or so. Hotels are about 4 miles away. We are clearing the track area now (in between blizzards) and will be bringing dirt in and the stand up very soon. Updates and pics will be posted as we go. We are looking forward to a great 2010 opening season! See ya trackside soon

Hey Brandon, looking forward to meeting some new guys! I am expecting to run healthy classes of stock and mod short course, stock and super stock 1/10th truck, 2wd and 4wd 1/10th buggies, 1/8th buggy and 1/8th truggy. Primarily ROAR rules and we'll be looking at other regional series rules so we are consistant for our racers. There will be a novice class to encourage inexperienced racers. Gas and electric will both be welcome. This is going to be a fun, friendly place to race and we are building an exceptional facility. Keep tabs on us and we'll see ya trackside

What classes are you guys looking to run. I'd like to see the 17.5 short course run..there are LOTS of them arond. With the planned drivers stand, there's almost no reason we can't have 10-15 of them on the track at the same time! Fun stuff.

I've also had a couple people ask about a 13.5 stadium truck class.

Let's here what you guys wanna run.

airconde
02-21-2010, 12:17 PM
2wd Mod Truck Anything Goes
2wd Mod Buggy Anything Goes
4wd Mod Buggy Anything Goes
2wd Stock Buggy 13.5 or any stock brush motor
2wd Stock Truck 13.5 or any stock brush motor
Slash Class SC10 13.5 Motor
Slash SC 10 Mod
4wd Truck Anything goes
Novice Any Car Any Truck " Any Motor if they are too fast move them up a Class " It's Novice Slower is FASTER
1/8 Buggy I don't know much about I guess any thing Goes
1/8 Truggy same rules as buggy

If you don't get enough Mod Trucks Or Stock Trucks moke it one Class Any thing goes
Same way for 2wd Buggy.
Make the class's simple less rules Anything goes Means anything goes.
Most of the guys your gonna get Know whats going on.
And you might wanna run the same rules That Stateline Leisure Hours Some of the Bigger Tracks run that way Everybody is on the same Track .
" AND THE BEST ADVICE IS SHOW IS FAST"
I whould like to see you guys start at 1;00 so the guys that work till noon on Saturdays have time to get there.
I hope this might help.

Stock should be 17.5, as 13.5 took place of the old 19t class (so if people are running 13.5's then 19t brushed should be used).

airconde
02-21-2010, 10:00 PM
Most places Ive raced at 13,5 is stock Class Because 17.5 s Are Terds for offroad .But on a Smaller tracks 17.5 will do you guys fine. Thats why I prefer Mod Class.:beatdeadhorse:

carbon madness
02-21-2010, 10:21 PM
I know what you mean, as 13.5 is huge at LHR and the other tracks. Yeah mod/open is simple, just show up and race.

I was just saying that a 13.5 is more of a 19t (according to roar), and a 17.5 is the same as a 27t.

02-22-2010, 05:31 PM
Pretty much everywhere is running a stock sc class with 17.5 or 27t motors. That's including the major series events in our area this summer. They are allowing the traxxas motor as well. Most places are running an open sc class that allows 4x4's as well. With the new esc-lipo technology you can make um run as fast as the older 13.5's.

The facility will come together rapidly when the weather breaks. We will be posting pics of the progress as soon as we have some :thumbsup:

Just be careful running too many classes. That was my only issue this past season was a track trying to run too many classes. Then we only got 2 qualifiers each and short mains in Nitro.

I know that you don't want to exclude anybody, but if 3 cars make a class, it gets pretty boring really quickly. Especially if one car breaks, or if you have a very dominant driver. Then you are sitting there through a 8 or 10 minute main with 2 cars running and one guy 3 laps down.

Just my $0.02. It's awesome having another option for racing this summer, and I wish you all the best of luck!!

Hey sdtech58, thanks for the good luck! I agree about not turning anyone away also. We are never going to make everyone happy but one solution would to be to pick the closest similar class and slide the few in with them, scoring the points separately. When it comes to a trophy race there will simply need to be a minimum number to make a class. I think we will be able to run a high quality program with three and a main by running a tight well-organized show. I have some of the best in the business around to help make it a great place to race! Looking forward to the upcoming season and meeting many new racers. Look me up when you come to race

03-01-2010, 12:37 AM
Combining some smaller classes is probably the best solution. As you said, you will never be able to make everyone happy all of the time. Last year was really the first time I ventured out to any tracks other than Stateline. I also ran at Rochester, White Park and Embassy last year. It was very interesting to see a variety of programs and approaches to running shows. No doubt about it, I will come and check out your facility for sure this year and look you up when I'm there!

I ran at embassy and rochester most of the season. It was alot of fun.
We even had alot of good races for the nilrock cup between both tracks.
Would be cool to put anothertrack into the mix.
You can count on me stopping in to tear up some dirt.

Anyways keep me posted on when you plan on starting track work (of course with the weather right now it might be a while), and I will try to make it out a few times to help up (also would I need to bring anything to help out, or would you guys have everything that is needed).

We got several hours of necessary clearing and cleanup done today. An excavator friend stopped out to give me numbers on a finish base grade and some hauling. The drivers stand plans are finished and it is staked out and the tracks basic dimensions have also been staked. Man is this going to be fun to see coming together! Thanks to Ken and Brandon for their hard work today. :)

I am real interested in gettin back into racing besides the classes what batteries are being used now.

acyrier
03-17-2010, 11:34 AM
Well, I'll try and give you the short winded version. ;)

Most of the racers are using 7.4 lipo packs for their 10th scale cars. By ROAR rules, these have to be roar approved batteries which requires hard cases. These can vary in price anyplace from $35-40 on up to $100+. Depending on what RC school your from, you may remember having to buy multiple packs for a race day...this is no longer the case. (1) good 7.4v lipo will get you through the day w/minimal effort.

if your looking into 1/8th scale, these packs are anywhere from 2s through 6s configurations (2cell through 6cell lipo packs) Feel free to stop my MRCR (www.michianarc.com) this friday for race night and I'll be glad to show you what's being ran.

Talk to ya later,
Aaron
