XXX-Fan 05-31-2010, 11:10 PM Sounds great!! Wish we could make the race but, my little sister is getting married that day. I don't think I would be too popular if we went racing instead. LOL!! We will DEFINITELY be back for some more racing!! Tyler really wants to wheel his buggy and truggy around there now.

Well, I guess that we can give you a pass for an occasion like that.....
I was very pleased that our layout seemed to work equally well for the 10th and 8th scalers. While we have some minor things to address, having a track that will be fun for all was first on the list. My son Austin had fun racing a borrowed SC10 (thanks Andrew). I'm going to let him have my truggy to run along with his SC10 and I'll have an SC10 and a pair of RC8's (one electric and one nitro) to play with when I find the time.
Come on up any time you can, we'll try to keep a great place for you guys to race.
hazzmatt 06-01-2010, 06:59 PM hey dayton, are you and your daughter racing this saturday?
1armed1 06-01-2010, 10:08 PM Not sure yet Matt, I'd like to but won't know for sure til thursday or friday.
carplace 06-01-2010, 10:38 PM Hopefully the rain will blow through in the morning and it will dry up enough to make some repairs to practice on :)
hunternaf 06-01-2010, 11:15 PM I will be watching the weather before taking the drive but I think I have nick (molnars boy) talked into coming with the promise of anything I own (septin alice) R/C wise, at least they have put saturday forcast rain to late afternoon anyway gary
hazzmatt 06-02-2010, 01:42 PM Not sure yet Matt, I'd like to but won't know for sure til thursday or friday.

one18thscalerac 06-02-2010, 02:08 PM i plan on coming down from colwater mi for the sc race on the 19th what tires are working best on the 2wd sc trucks
acyrier 06-02-2010, 02:41 PM Not sure what everybody else is running, but I went from stock (TA sc10) all the way around, to soft-bowties on the rear, and kept the stocks up front. It increased my lap count by 2 laps..the stock REARS are REALLY bad. ;)
all of the blind spots got fix today

Amen to that Aaron. I went to super soft Goosebumps in rear and it was like night and day. Stayed with stock in front and was having a lot of push in flat turns. Going with softer front springs to try out.

Did the esc tweeks help any?
acyrier 06-03-2010, 07:18 AM Rick
I had gotten 8 laps in the 1st heat, 7 laps in the 2nd heat, and 9 laps in the 3rd heat (not sure what I got in the main, my guess is 8). The esc settings def. gave me some zip, but it was the tires that gave me the traction to get the power to the track. w/o the traction..power means nothing. (the traction changes and speedo settings were changed between the 2nd and 3rd heat) I would like to think that I could have gotten more laps then 9 had that run been at the beginning of the day when the track was at it's best, but that's just speculation. I'm not sure any of the 17.5 SC's got 10 laps, but I'm not sure.

I had put some hard springs up front between the 1st and 2nd heats to try to get the front end to push so the back end would stick...no such luck. when I changed tires, I never changed the springs back so my truck had a bit of a bounce to it. when I race again (week from this saturday) I'm planning on going back to the stock front springs. I was also told to try 25wt oil in the rear, 30wt in the front. I'm assuming the std. #2 piston, (I think that's what the stock setup from the instructions is, but I don't remember that either...) IF the truck doesn't smooth itself out after those changes, I am going to try the next size piston hole to see if that'll let the oil flow through the shocks better.
carplace 06-03-2010, 09:44 AM We changed a couple of the obstacles to correct a few things and repaired mother natures gully washers. The racers that showed up to practice had a good time and liked the revisions. Our plate compactor is getting a new motor and the track will start the day compacted. Hopefully that will minimize the down time for repairs during the day so we can spend more time racing. :)
On another note, for anyone that was here Saturday to race - we had a mis-communication about the timing. The track will open at 8:00 am. We'll hold open practice from 8-9:00 then controlled practice from 9-9:30 for 10th scale, 9:30-10 for 8th, 10-10:20 for 10th, and 10:20-10:40 for 8th. The track will close at 10:40 for minor touch-ups and we will have a drivers meeting. Racing will begin promptly at 11:00.
See Ya Trackside Saturday!
carplace 06-03-2010, 10:13 AM I'm not sure any of the 17.5 SC's got 10 laps, but I'm not sure.
Only one, one round.

Zoe's Dad 06-03-2010, 01:54 PM I heard white walls work really good...have you tried those yet aaron?
acyrier 06-03-2010, 01:58 PM No, I havn't found the really fat white-walls yet..just the little pinstrip ones. If I'm going pimp..I'm going all the way..curb feelers and all.
Zoe's Dad 06-03-2010, 02:14 PM you will also need some tiny fuzy dice..thanks for the laugh

Sorry I am going to miss the new revisions this week. Have to work. What a bummer. :(. Maybe next week. Think I am going to have to quit my job 'cause it is interfering with my racing!! :)

Thanks for the info. I am going down a spring on the front to try that out. Maybe between the two of us we can come up with something.

Boy, that'd be a shame - then you would have to re-paint the race truck!
Just put in for the day shift and no Saturdays! Just stop by and leave the entry money..... I'll get someone to run the UPS truck for ya
Seriously though, we'll be here and ready when you have the time. Have a good one!

I started the day w/ soft Goosebumps front & rear, JC foam in the front and AKA foam in the rear. Cornered pretty well, just a bit squirrelly on acceleration but controllable.Switched to AKA Enduros in the rear and loosened the diff 1/8 turn from stock setting. Gained a lap.Calibers seem to work well also tho I haven't tried them myself yet.I'm running 17.5 ,Tekin RS,in an SC10.:dude:

A good third of that race I spent with a rock or something locking up the rear drive line.
hunternaf 06-03-2010, 11:14 PM I understand practice, I think but, how does the top qualifier get a time, are there qualifying laps or is it only the first qualifier race, do the racers in the main come from the top ? spots from all the qualifiers ???? guess I better show up saturday Gary

In simple terms, I'll take racers (in the same class) and enter them into qualifiers in groups of ten. There's three qualifying races, 6 minutes each. During that time, you're trying to turn the most laps in the fastest time (as close to 6 minutes as you can). In the qualifiers, you're racing the clock. We take those lap counts (along with the times), and grab the top ten into the A-Main, the next ten into the B-Main, and so on. IN your main, you race for position.

I don't think you understand the dicotomy here. I will always be above you.
So, if i'm a princess, you're a stable boy.
At least if I was Queen, I'd let you be my pet Eunuch....

Mangler64 06-04-2010, 11:26 PM Have fun tomorrow everyone. Wishing I was there driving the toy UPS truck instead of the real one.
Good luck to all.
carplace 06-05-2010, 06:25 PM Well, it wasn't for the lack of desire to race. We decided to try to run a limited program for the dedicated racers that came out to support the raceway. It just wasn't to be, mother nature stepped in again.
Is there any interest in an open practice (we could even set up some bragging rights races) tomorrow, Sunday the 6th? Say noon 'til 5:00, $5.00 a head, run all you can? It is supposed to dry up in the morning and be a nice day. Post if you are interested, I am open to the idea - if enough racers can come out.
Thanks, Michael
