Newsletter 2-21-11 No. 2

Well we’re one week closer to the opening of Granger Raceway’s 2nd season. It seems like everyone is itching to get outside and get their stuff dirty again.

Granger has a few big schedule – fillers in the works so keep an eye on the Events Calendar. We hope to fill our calendar by next week so stay posted and keep reading the newsletters. Today we took a walk around the track and thankfully Mother Nature didn’t make a disaster out of last year’s hard work. We are making plans already about fine – tuning the track surface and layout so expect more awesome 10th and 8th scale friendly obstacles.

We still have spots available for official Granger Raceway sponsors, so if you have a business that would like to be a sponsor of Granger Raceway and want more details or if you know of one that might be interested, contact us at michael@grangerraceway.com.

Have pictures or a video from last season? Any pictures, video clips, testimonials or any other additional content we could use on the website or in future newsletters would be much appreciated. This content can be sent to us at amweaver47@aol.com.

If you'd like to recieve our newsletters via email, register on our website, www.grangerraceway.com.

SEE YA' TRACKSIDE SOON!

Hey Grizz, hope you have had a great winter season! Austin has been working on the website and doing a great job. With his efforts it will just get better and better as the season goes. Along with our regular Saturday club races we will be having several larger series events and likely a trophy race or two as well.
You are welcome down here anytime my friend, see you very soon!

Will the granger crew be returning to Raceworld this Sunday ? 2nd points race and I know Austin is off to a great start and I think the rest of the guys had a great time. Brand new layout, big speed , big jumps. Some dude named Hudson ran a lap in the 16 sec range with a nitro 1/8 buggy.

Well, hopefully mother nature agrees and lets us get started early. If the weather is fit to build the next layout, we will have it together pretty quickly. Hopefully we could consider a late April race this year. Stay tuned, it's gonna be a blast!

I might be able to race again this coming season, but I will cross that bridge when we get there. As of right now there is a good chance that you will see me racing every now and then, but first I need to wait for confirmation on some stuff.

after seeing grass in my yard yesterday all I could think of was the smell of nitro when I got off work today, then I realized it was still cold when I got home and did not want to mess with the nitro stuff, time to try out the dx450. Man that thing is a blast but I need a little more practice and a new pinion gear. Any other rc dirtbikes going to show up this year or do I have the whole year to learn to drive and work on setups (I'll need it)

So what classes are you going to run this year? I didn't race out there last year (so don't say same as last year), so what classes will have the most people in them? I am going to say SC is the class to race in, but with the other classes (mod truck, mod buggy, or mod 4wd buggy) what ones will most likely be ran this year with a descent turn out?

I am mainly asking about 10th scale classes, and the ones other then the SC class (I know people run that one)?

(like I said in my above post, once things are finalized I should be able to race again this season (being away from a track "racing" for over a year is quite a bit of time))

I would guess mod truck or mod buggy. We did not see many 4wd buggies last year. Stock SC will by far be the biggest. Mod SC will probably suffer a little as guys switch to 4x4 SC with all the new trucks coming out.

Get the truck and buggy ready then you will have a couple of choices

We'll see you guys soon.

Thanks Mike, I think I will start off with mod truck (my T4 is ready to go but hasn't been on a track for quite some time), and then maybe get the RB5 going, or get an SC truck first.

In any case it sounds like I will be able to race with what I got yet, but getting an SC will be a good investment for later in the season (of course that is if things are finalized, witch it should be). I just know it will be fun to be able to race again.

I don't want to sell it, but really all I need to do is get an SC truck, and a 17.5 motor, and maybe a 2.4 ghz radio (I might get the Airtronics MX-3X for now). That is if I take the esc out of the T4.

But soon, as I need to give you a hard time on the track (you have a target on ya Rick).

03-06-2011, 11:05 AM
hey mike will be good to see you at the track but if you are looking to give rick a hard time you will have to coordinate your visits with him as he only pops in once in a while and not real sure but I do remember him in the mod class with a 4X4 sc (jammin I believe) and I have seen him at mrcr with a 2wd sc but he is a bit ahead of you on the learning curve.

carbon madness
03-06-2011, 12:14 PM
I know how he drives as I have raced with him for a few years. As for the SC thing, I tend to catch on quick then try to do things that the should never be doing in the first place (like going for a huge triple when a double single is the faster line). Really I play around too much when racing. But yeah being at the track on the same day would help. Yep he has the Jammin' 4x4 SC, and the Kyosho SC-R (the truck I will be getting at some point), and I know he doesn't run the "old" truck class or 2wd buggies anymore. Also I have driven SC trucks at different tracks, here and there, and even race one as well (I was running I thing for 3rd that day then of course I lived up to my name and a hinge pin fell out). lol

By hard time I am referring to something else, as we tend to fight over the line quite a bit (he knows what I am talking about, as this goes back to indoor @ Rochester). lmao

On a side note I haven't been able to make it to MRCR this half of the season as I am taking a quiz that Friday for one of my classes (I could race, but then I wouldn't be able to take a quiz).

hunternaf
03-06-2011, 12:28 PM
when the quizzes end or if they get over by 7p call aaron or ken and get registered. I carry a spare blitz with me to the track if you want to pay the entry fee you are more than welcome to try running it, the last guy that run it put it in the a main 2 weeks in a row before the esc dumped, still waiting on speed passion to get my new one sent back to me. For now it is set up with a brushed trinity monster hp motor and hpi esc, maybe you can bring one of your hot brushed motors and give it a try. Gary

I might have to take up your offer, although I don't know exactly when I will make it out there. However I am on spring break on the week of the 14th, so that Friday the 18th I might be able to make a trip out there (there is no quizzes then). I'm not 100% sure I can make it out there, but I am about 75% sure as of now. If I beat the owner then all is good. lol

Are you at the track every Monday? If so I can stop in after class this Monday the 7th (I would get there around 7pm or some time after 7pm depending on how long my class goes)

And if it is still running a brushed motor I will even bring my comm. lathe to kick it old school. lol

(I don't know if I will bring my T4 or TC5 though)

Well did some driving with the "free ride" (i.e. Gary's 2nd truck), and was able to run some mid 13's and 14's consistently. It could be a little faster but, for what it was I would say it was quite fast. I think I need to tune in a little more steering and it will be great, although that is minor tuning that needs to be done, although I did like the way the truck drove so I don't know yet.

I think I will bring some of my ele's to put in it on the 18th (radio, esc, transponder, and maybe motor). I will also bring my charger, so all I would need supplied is a truck to run. Also I might try your 17.5 out, as I think it just had dirt in it.

It really felt great to be able to drive again, and now I just need to be sure I can make it out to the track on Friday night to do some preseason racing (and most likely my only time that I will be able to race at mrcr for the rest of this season).

carbon madness
03-12-2011, 09:55 PM
So who would be for running 2wd buggies this season? I know Max, and me would love to race that class, but first we need some people who would want to run the class as well.

Yes, SC is the class to run as every one seems to have one, but 2wd buggies are a blast to drive.

In any case I will more then likely have my RB5 SP2 out there (as well as my RB5) regardless if it gets raced or not. I will bring my T4 as well, but I really want to race 2wd buggies (I would love to run 4wd buggies again, but I don't think anyone really runs them anymore).

hunternaf
03-12-2011, 11:02 PM
only remember seeing 1 weekend of racing for the 2wd buggies but there were a couple of weekends that I missed, and being neww to rc I may have watched them and not known it. If you got a couple of spares I would let you beat me, I think I heard that this year to make a class you have to have enough entries to cover marsheling for the next race. Gary

carbon madness
03-12-2011, 11:45 PM
That sounds about right, as the 10th scale buggies don't get raced very much. It would be nice to see more people run them on a normal basis though.

Well I don't know how many spares I will have (I buy them as I go), but I should have enough on hand to let you drive my other one every now and then.

Well, it is not paticularly because I am busy but more because we have been patiently trying to work with some other folks to finish up our big race schedule.

As it stands right now, I would plan on big events for the following dates and we expect to make actual race announcements very soon.

Summer opening late April (weather permitting)
May 28/29
June 11

August 27
September 17
October 1

That would be a great question for a poll. What day/days would you guys like to have available for practice? Bear in mind that we need time to prep the track for racing.

We did Wednesday evenings last year.
