View Full Version : Granger Offroad RC Raceway (Granger, IN)
Mangler64 08-08-2010, 06:29 PM Mike, Really liked the new track. It was fast, flowing and most of all FUN!! Glad for you and staff that Granger Raceway had a good turn out. I had a great time. Wish I could have run better though but I will get there.
All most forgot to thank the concession staff for all of their hard work feeding us all. Great food. And Kudos for the Krispy Kreme's. I am thinking they need to be a sponsor for the next race.
XXX-Fan 08-08-2010, 06:46 PM That is awesome!!! Great job guys!! Glad you got a great turnout!!
Tyler ended up 2nd in truggy and 4th in buggy at RC Pro Series this weekend. Tyler's new setup in truggy is DIALED!!
We look forward to coming back to Granger. We are going to take next weekend off. Need a break. Then, we will be back.

Way to go Tyler! We had some pretty good competition and a great day. I can definately understand a break.....
See you soon!
dan-o 08-08-2010, 09:42 PM If it's the sc guy that I'm thinking of I think it was a sensor issues caused by dirt.
He ran my tekin 17.5 after the first rd and I heard of no more issues.
I took a look at the inside of his motor and there was more dirt then normal.
I know he got it cleaned out and put back together but I'm not sure if he has tested it yet.
Dayton
so tekin motor issue not esc issue.... i get it.

great job tyler, how was the the turn out?
kings kid 08-08-2010, 10:28 PM Momma and I had a good time. She took a pretty hard shot in the ankle. Saw the Doctor today, They don't think it's broken,(thank the Lord) but she's on crutches for a few weeks. She'll be there this weekend to race, (Yep, she's addicted) but we'll have to cover her marshalling duties. looking forward to running the new layout, had a blast on it!
XXX-Steve 08-09-2010, 01:19 AM Reason enough for me to come back :)
+1 on the trophy girl.
Any SC guys have recommendations for a good ESC/motor combo? I'm about done with Novak and the problems the system I have is giving me. The Tekin RS is the 5.5 motor limit, correct? Has this been a solid ESC for everyone? Any opinions on the Mamba Max Pro? Anyone tried the Kinetic yet?

I wouldn't even say that,
I would say a dirt issue.
Tekins are one of the easiest motors to keep the dirt out of as they do not have large cooling holes ect...
Could have been any brand of motor, if the sensor board is coated with dust it will create sensor issues.

The top 4 places in sc stock were all tekin escs. two were tekin motors, two weren't. The third place finisher had issues the weekend before, changed his sensor wire and fixed the problem. The fine texture of the track surface finds its way into the electronics fairly easy. I've seen my receivers with 4grams of dirt inside (cleaned them out yesterday) the other two with issues, one had a bad motor, the others transmitter wouldn't link up properly to the esc. His wouldn't advance properly under acceleration. Not a tekin problem, but a transmitter problem. The biggest critic (complainer) on the drivers stand finished third saturday with a tekin and couldn't break the top five without one.
2fst2c 08-09-2010, 06:59 AM I'm running the MMP and have not had any issues with it yet.
hunternaf 08-09-2010, 09:26 PM I sure hope I did not throw money away on the speed passion short coarse master and 17.5 motor I just bought. Anyone else try one, xxx fan had a speed passion system and said they were O.K. he did have some problems but did say it was not S.P.'s fault. Maybe I will be the first to run one out there in about 2 weeks when I make it back out there. Can not wait to see the new layout. Gary
kings kid 08-09-2010, 10:37 PM Gary, I have A Speedpassion GT 1.1 that's about three years old. was a good solid working unit. Moved to tekin because they make more useable power and are firmware upgradeable. You should be fine with it.

hunternaf 08-10-2010, 04:33 PM You guys had a blast and I could not be there, I think I am having withdrawl symptoms, even tried to tell my better half we had to leave by 4:30pm thinking I could stop in and at least watch a race but you know how ladies are about getting ready for a date, I think we pulled out of the drive about 5:10p

Thanks
hunternaf 08-10-2010, 11:27 PM wow the new track layout is cool I hope it does not change before I get a chance to try it out, and it looks like the lap times are a bit quicker, great video Gary

I mentioned before, it's one of the most fun tracks I've ever put a lap on. As far as lap times, about 2 seconds faster, overall...
carplace 08-11-2010, 01:35 PM What would you guys like to run as our last trophy race of the year? Classes, special races, maybe an enduro or team race? We have left the last date open so we could pick the right classes to work for the most racers.
Also, who wants to race Labor day weekend? Maybe that's the time for a fun-filled team race?
Let me know what you all think
XXX-Fan 08-11-2010, 06:03 PM All classes. No Labor Day race. We are going to US Nationals and don't want to miss another big race at Granger ;)
Just my wants. We will try to work around whatever you want to do.
cory30 08-11-2010, 06:19 PM I hear you Randy ! I have told my wife the last 3 years we were going to the u.s. nationals. Then i went to a rc race instead. this year its the nats !
XXX-Fan 08-11-2010, 06:26 PM We go every year. Except last 2 due to racing. She put her foot down and said we are going this year. lol
hunternaf 08-11-2010, 09:48 PM ah-oh I thought there was already another big race schedualed, in fact I think it somehow got posted to rc universe schedual of events, and I thought it was in this thread somewhere, dang me I better stop trying to help Gary

Hey Gary, we did pick September 4th for our last trophy race of the season. We did leave the classes as open so that we could gauge interest in particular classes. At this point I think we are prepared to run an all-classes trophy just like our very successful shootout last weekend.
For the Labor day gig I am thinking that we should come up with some super-fun racing format that is relaxed for a great no-pressure day. It sounds like Uncle Conde is volunteering his BBQ service so we won't go hungry :)
hunternaf 08-11-2010, 11:28 PM boy I sure am glad I had not misread it there have already been 992 hits on the event calender, Mike are you able to edit that one if need be (and ps I will only try to help out when asked from now on)

Gary, you've been doing a fine job spreading the word. You have permission to keep doing so, I appreciate the help!

Sounds like fun! I haven't been to the Nationals since 1985...... DOH!
CRCDUDE 08-12-2010, 11:17 AM I was at a track 1 time and they did a "team race" where 1 guy steered and 1 guy did the throttle. It was a blast and a real challange to boot. At the time we were runnin stock slashes.
I would love to do an Endurance race, like 2-4 hrs long. Or maybe even a 1 hr race where you have to swap batteries at least a few times.
airconde 08-12-2010, 11:21 AM OR a team race were the driver face's away from the track and his team tells him what to do . Like turn left turn right straight ahead GO FOREST GO
carplace 08-12-2010, 12:04 PM OR a team race were the driver face's away from the track and his team tells him what to do . Like turn left turn right straight ahead GO FOREST GO
What are we going to have with our BBQ? I'll bet Pam and Lindsay will be happy to help.....
carplace 08-12-2010, 01:37 PM I just realized that Sept. 4th IS the Saturday of Labor day weekend, duh! :hat:
carplace 08-12-2010, 01:45 PM How about an all-classes trophy race with only one qualifier and a main and then some team or special races?
sdtech58 08-12-2010, 04:01 PM You guys running a regular show this weekend?
hunternaf 08-12-2010, 05:47 PM I do not have a team member to bring along or enough batteries to run for an hour but a relay race where you put the tq with the sq and so on and so on through the field might even things out and give a couple of middle of the road drivers a chance at winning something, say the cars have to touch before the next driver takes off
carplace 08-12-2010, 06:16 PM You guys running a regular show this weekend?
Yep, comin' up? The track is a bit different than last time.
XXX-Fan 08-12-2010, 07:27 PM Mike,
ya get the pm I sent ya?
dodgeboy93 08-12-2010, 09:20 PM hey mike are you going to do more door prizes on sept 4th cuz i might be able to rustle up some stuff from MAPLE CITY HOBBIES to give away.
