Lawn Dart 10-11-2009, 12:15 AM Couple of my buddies that raced said the cars were sick and the guys in the pits thought they were pretty damn sweet.
I am looking for a used radio to replace one of mine that had a bit of a failure today. If someone has something they are looking to get rid of give me a shout. Thanks.

doox00 10-11-2009, 10:33 AM I am getting the 8ight and m11x all setup.. I am using 4C lipos. I used a voltage meter to see how much voltage the esc was putting out to the receiver before plugging it in and its 6.5 volts. My receiver says no more than 6 volts max. Is it safe to use?
My novak havok pro puts at 5.98 volts to the receiver on my sc10.
Loony 10-11-2009, 10:40 AM Is anyone going to be there at all today? I will be in Grand Rapids today with the family and they want to take a peek at it...

Dart, I have a couple radios. If you run spektrum and have a receiver I have a Dx3 -25.00, I also have an older, but nearly unused futaba magnum JR Tx and Rx- 20.00.
Waters 10-11-2009, 12:07 PM So I want to hear about running the nitro's on the supercross track. Who went and how was it?

I dont have any experance with that esc. I run the MMM. You might want to call losi custumer service to see what they have to say.
you could also do a search on rctech or post a thread on it too. that site is more world wide....

Cool......uhhhhh.....could you try again with a smidge of punctuation? My head hurts from reading that.
Kidding, bro. Welcome to the dysfunctional family.
Lawn Dart 10-11-2009, 04:02 PM So what's the word on moving dirt tomorrow night?
I believe as long as the guys working on the water lines are finished, its game on.
2fst2c 10-11-2009, 08:25 PM anyone know if 6.56v is to much to run into your receiver/servo?
I'm sure you'll be fine. Once you put any kind of load on it I'm sure the voltage will drop to 6 or below. I can't imagine they would make a RTR vehicle that would ruin peoples receivers. A 5cell NIMH 6.0v pack will be over 6 volts when charged and they are made for receivers.
kings kid 10-11-2009, 08:50 PM I believe as long as the guys working on the water lines are finished, its game on. The waterlines you speak of, are they fire protection or watering system?

Sprinkler system for fire prevention underneath the drivers stand.

HEFFAE 10-11-2009, 11:13 PM Ah, per the request of Muddy Waters & Ali-Bubb-a (Bobby T), here is a little of the video. They didn't turn the lights on for the first 6 minutes of the show when we were jumping, just a spotlight on the vehicle. Camera video is poor quality trying to compesate for no lighting when you transfer it to youtube so that is not on here, this is about an hour into the show when they left the lights on.

doox00 10-12-2009, 12:04 AM Are the Xcelorin 8th scale brushless motor any good? If I were to replace the esc is it better to get motor/esc or just an esc and use the motor I have?
HEFFAE 10-12-2009, 12:55 AM Losi motors are good, I think the best combo for 8 scale at the moment is the Mamba Monster (Castle Creations) of-course it depends who you talk to, anyone who's put some hours on any of the big three companies will tell you they all have problems, sometimes you'll get one that lasts 6 months and others won't work out of the box, usualy it's the ESC.
I've had great luck with the Losi Motors, rotten luck with the Losi & Tekin ESC's. I think in the next 6 months most of the bugs will be worked out of the ESC's with: Losi, Tekin & Mamba.
doox00 10-12-2009, 01:27 AM I went ahead and ordered a mamba esc, will use the losi motor, thanks!
Uncle E 10-12-2009, 08:14 AM I went ahead and ordered a mamba esc, will use the losi motor, thanks!
Order the bearings for your worm gear. The worm gear bearings are the same as the rear bearing in your Losi motor. Go ahead and replace the rear bearing in your Losi motor if it is used. Otherwise give it about 10 runs and replace it. Very easy to do, just unscrew the small screws on the side of motor and start pulling it apart. If you don't it'll come apart and destroy your motor.

Is that because the bearing is junk or that the motor wears through bearings and you should have a lot of them?

Know what size bearing I need to order?
thanks again!

The motor bearing in the back of the motor is the same size but different and capable of high temps from the internal motor. This would be a short time fix but you eventually want to get the bearing made for extreme heat and RPM's.
HEFFAE 10-12-2009, 09:53 AM Is that because the bearing is junk or that the motor wears through bearings and you should have a lot of them?
The bearings are great, what makes them wear faster is the dust that gets in them from the front of the can threads that are not being used. If you are bashing on a dusty track it has been suggested to put a piece of tape over the holes to block dust, if not dusty, leave it open for air to circulate through the internal of the motor.

***fart fart*** Losi motor real good, Losi ESC not always dependable but more than Tekin for me, Mamba Max = ? Ask Marti, Swinster, Andy (Muddy) Waters, they have the most experience using them, have heard both good and bad ***fart fart***
