So what are the classes going to be........
4x4?
Or just the stockers
Stock SCT
Open SCT
4 x 4 SCT
If we get 6 or more we will run the class. I don't anticipate any problems getting at least 6 entries in each class. Same basic rules as we use in the Bragging Rights races.
I already have heard a great deal of talk about this series this summer. Friday nights, cool outside, under the lights.....I keep fighting it but I may end up with an SC at some point. :beatdeadhorse:
Its almost here ladies. Who is it going to be this time? Hollis? The trader Munson who bailed on AE and is now running Kyosho? Or is it Lenmans turn to prove himself? Kerby? Dart? You guys got anything to say about this? I hear other top drivers may make their SCT debut at this race. Things could get real interesting real quick, and remember, anyone who fights fair.....is stupid!
GoDaddy 04-26-2010, 05:57 AM Anything is possible IF there are enough entries to support the classes. At the first event there was only 1 electric 1/8th and no open SCT. Has to be 6 - 8 minimum entries to have a class to race.I think some people were confused about when they was suppose to run, with the nitro series gone they won't be confused when to run. Are u going to put something on the website about this. I see a strong showing in the open class at the club events. As soon as the lottery (incom tax)comes I'm getting an 8th scale electric hopefully before the next event!!

Kerby 04-26-2010, 07:25 AM I wouldn't call Munson a trader, just smart. Kyosho is where it's at, I may not win the race but I guarantee I finish better than I would with an AE truck...................hahahaha!!! Lenman will bring his A game once again. I say it's about time some of the other top drivers join the ranks of SCT, maybe they will finally realize that it's no longer a bashing class.
kickyfast 04-26-2010, 08:25 AM So, for a newb like myself, what time do the doors open on Wednesday? I have new cars to break in.....

I am there by 5PM so anytime after that.
Hey everyone, just wanted to make you aware that the August 28th date for VRL Electric has been changed to August 21. MORL had an event on the 28th and it works out better if none of the series are competing with each other. So now all VRL and MORL dates are open with no conflicts!

Its almost here guys! We ran the program last night that we will be running this weekend for the VRL, those 8 minute qualifiers and races are sweet!
I would like to take a minute to re-emphasize what the VRL is all about. More racing and shorter days, a higher level of competition with good sportsmanship, less travel time while supporting our local West Michigan tracks.
One thing I would like to stress is the transition between racing and marshaling. Many times I have heard tracks say there would be penalties handed out if the marshals are not to their positions quickly, but I have never actually seen it done. I mention this because on Saturday we are going to be running 8 minute qualifiers and races, it will be VERY important to have our marshals ready in a matter of seconds, NOT minutes. If we have 8 minutes of racing followed by 5 minutes of calling for marshals we will be there all day. So to help eliminate this issue, we will be placing someone at the door to the track. When your race is done, you will drop your vehicle off on the tables under the driving stand and go directly out to marshal. Anyone who leaves the drivers stand and walks out the door of the track heading to the pits WILL be docked a lap by our "hall monitor". If for some reason your RC has to go back to the pits as soon as the race is over, arrange for a friend to take it for you or have them marshal for you. The transition from race to marshal should take no more than 60 seconds. We want to flow from one race right to the next with no interruptions. For that same reason, there will be NO racers minute given for any reason.
More racing in a shorter day, the only way its going to happen is if everyone works together. See you all Saturday.
This weekend I started out disappointed knowing my race program wouldn’t work with the vrl rules after the speech I got wen. night and Revo’s post. So I decided one of us could race with both trucks. I get to the track to help out and what happens? The race
is run the same as it is every week, the race starts late, people goeing back to the pits, calling for marshals and waiting for racers. There were no laps docked or wornings. So I end up feeling like a pissed off fool for missing the first race. Thanks guys
PS
Thanks Roy
You afraid of getting beat by a girl?
Now I can get over it lol

Everyone knows Im just messing with them. I hear about it at the track, been pretty entertaining so far. Just need to light a fire under some of these slackers is all.
The Chad 04-27-2010, 05:40 PM Revo, E, If you guys are looking for a water tank for your outdoor track there is a nice caged plastic one in the press bargan corner for $60. It holds 275 gallons... Use the garden hose to fill it every now and then, get a gas powerd water pump with a big hose. I saw the pumps at Menards for about $200.
Uncle E 04-27-2010, 07:26 PM Hoping the same hose will work, just adding more hose? About the time that one sells, I'll need it.
Mike D. 04-27-2010, 09:56 PM have a OS 2050 polished pipe and header in great condition, no dings, 55.00 shipped.
bigmike22 04-27-2010, 11:02 PM I cant wait! A points event i can actually make! LOL The sc10 is dialed in, now just have to work on the 4x4!
munsonator08 04-27-2010, 11:27 PM less than a week away fellas, i think we have yet to see all of the potential contenders of this race. We may have one of the usual guys from Proving grounds claim the win, it may be a dark horse that hasn't quite yet tapped the potential of their truck, or it may be a ringer from out of town..... We shall see.... one thing for sure, it wont be a boring day.

Why race in the Virus Racing League? To answer that we first must look at the things we dont like in other RC racing series.
Dislike: Long distance travel with many hours of driving and overnight stays. The VRL series is based in West Michigan using our local tracks. No more long days of driving. Plus this helps us support our local tracks.
Dislike: Fourteen to sixteen hour days.
The VRL series wants to run smooth, fast race programs. We can do that by limiting the number of entries into each event if need be. Combined that with shorter driving times and it means shorter race days.
Dislike: Short heat races, most series run 5 or 6 minute heat races.
The VRL plans to run 8 minute races. With the recent advancements in LiPo's and motors why not spend more time racing!
VRL plans to run the following classes of racing: (other classes can be added if there is enough demand for them)
Classes for VRLe:
SC Stock (ROAR Rules)
Stock Buggy
Modified Buggy
Super Stock Truck
Modified Truck
VRL plans to run the series at the following tracks on the dates listed below:
Virus Racing League (Electric) - VRLe
April 24 Proving Grounds (Indoor Track)
May 29 The Stables
June 26 M-40 Raceway
August 21 Proscale R/C Raceplex
September 18 Proving Grounds (Outdoor Track)
Because time is an issue and none of us enjoy 16 hour days of racing, each VRL race will have a cap of 160 entries. Once we reach 160, our entries closes for that event.
Qualifiers will be determined by the number of total entries for each event. If we have under 120 entries we will run 3 qualifiers and resort the heats after round 2. If we reach 121 - 160 entries (our cap), we will run a total of 2 qualifiers and resort after round 1 is completed.
It is our goal to put in place a points system for qualifying instead of rocket round. As many people have stated, tracks do blow out and quite often after round one, lap times drop off. So to try to level the playing field as much as possible, we feel a points system of qualifying should be used.
Each qualifier will be run as an 8 minute race for electric, nitro will run 7 minute qualifiers.
Tracks and registration will open at 7:00am for each event, registration will close at 8:30am and racing will start at 9:00am. By starting at 9:00am and limiting the entries to 160, each event should be completed by 6:00pm making each event about an 8 - 9 hour day, give or take depending upon unforeseen circumstances that may come up.

Are we running 8min and qualy points for the bragging rights
No, Bragging Rights II is a "normal" race program. Three 6 minute qualifiers. Rocket Round format. Live loop starts. Classes will be Stock SCT, Open SCT and 4 x 4 SCT. Trophies for 1st - 3rd in Stock SCT A and B Mains, 1st - 3rd in Open SCT A-Main, and 1st - 3rd in 4 x 4 SCT A-Main. $28 per person gets you into two classes of your choice, and you can race your SCT in the evening program for free.
All day racing, trophies, trading paint....what more could you ask for? I know, I know, women in swimsuits to hand out the trophies. Well your not getting that, but if you ask nicely I am sure JBlaze will take his shirt off and marshal topless all day for you. :beatdeadhorse:
