Twitch 06-25-2009, 06:55 PM caleb and I would like to run mod truck hankster 06-25-2009, 10:44 PM I deleted some posts. Please keep on topic and appropriate for general audience. XXX-Steve 06-25-2009, 11:05 PM I HAVENT SEEN ANYONE PROMISED A RACE YET JESUS CHRIST THERE JUST GETTING THE WORD OUT VIRUS HAS BEEN A TEAM FOR A YEAR THERE JUST NOW GONNA MAKE IT BIG GIVE EM TIME... See, I guess I don't understand why they didn't have the big race that was supposed to happen at MX131 somewhere closer to Martin. That was mainly what I was talking about. It seems like it was just automatically decided that they were going to have it at Roman's making it more convenient for the Virus racers up there and not really giving a thought to those down this way who have been loyal to MX131 all along. I mean, were any other tracks even considered or local racers who don't have the luxury to be able to drive nearly a hundred miles to the track? MAYBE ONE DAY THEYLL BREAK OFF INTO CHAPTERS LIKE THE HELLS ANGELS AND YOU CAN BE THE PRESIDENT OF VIRUS RACING KZOO:thumbsup: Well, as REVO pointed out, there's a few guys down here already that represent Virus and I don't think there's anything I could do that they wouldn't be able to accomplish. Even if I was a part of all this, I'm not sure how much my opinion would count, anyway. OK OK, We have all seen what kind of event can be put on. The region 5 race was great but thats only one part of the R/C sean. How about Oval races, Road course type racing? You all know I lean towards the Oval style racing I'd like to see a big Oval event we have the tracks in place to hold this type of event. Run it at Dukes or BFG I know your just getting this off the ground and I'm rushing things but you said you wanted some input so this is my 2 cents worth. I'd go the extra mile to make this happen Judging by the lack of responses to CJ's post here, I'm beginning to think some of my initial thoughts on this are correct. I talked to a local track owner tonight about the oval thing, and we really have no idea of where to begin as far as having anyone affiliated with Virus involved. You know, we can offer our input all day long, but how are you able to help us? Clearly, you guys don't seem that interested in oval at this point. If that's not what this is about, then fine. Please let us know, though. There are people including myself that are willing to spend time, money, and effort down the line to get things going. Again, this whole thing still seems a little vague as far as what this is all about and what steps you're going to take to make this hobby what you want it to be in Michigan. I know what you said before, but you need to consider input from not only all the racers, but ALSO all the of tracks. Some of the owners are more involved than others here on the board, but you need to consider all them in all of your decisions. You know, contact them and let them know what you have up your sleeve. Ask them what you can do for them and vise versa. If this is truly something that's going to benefit everyone, there's no reason local track owners should be in the dark as to what's going on. I feel like I have to say again that I don't mean to sound so harsh. Really, if what you guys are claiming to do is true, it's an exciting prospect. I just really hope it's not going to end up being about one group of people or any certain track. At this point, I'm just going to sit back and see how things unfold. Revo 06-25-2009, 11:10 PM I feel like I have to say again that I don't mean to sound so harsh. Really, if what you guys are claiming to do is true, it's an exciting prospect. One of the team members down in Kzoo is an oval FANATIC, so things might be more realistic than you think. S.Higbee 06-25-2009, 11:18 PM See, I guess I don't understand why they didn't have the big race that was supposed to happen at MX131 somewhere closer to Martin. I mean, were any other tracks even considered or local racers who don't have the luxury to be able to drive nearly a hundred miles to the track? In response: This decision to have it at Romans was suggested right away by Edwin who isn't "Officially", if you will a Virus member yet, along with myself. This thing hasn't even really been exposed yet. So please wait like the rest of us and see what comes about. From what I'm hearing this thing is gonna spread statewide. I think it's only gonna make this hobby more exciting. Is it August yet? Later Scott Duke Bradshaw 06-25-2009, 11:22 PM One of the team members down in Kzoo is an oval FANATIC, so things might be more realistic than you think. Has he been to my place? Not much of a FANATIC if he has not! Oval is growing again, big time, more so than Off Road from what I hear. Both need to grow as far as I'm concerned. I'm in for both, if there is anything I can do to help what you guys are trying to do I would love to help, no joke. Just not sure what all is going on. I know, you have not spilled the beans....... correct? I know, you have not spilled the beans....... correct? Duke Why are you waiting till Aug???? Duke I believe he has been there Duke, if not he will be there soon. He goes by Kzoolou on here. Of course your in Duke, you have the best oval in the state, maybe one of the best in the nation. Couldn't do oval without you. I am going to try for someday during the week of July 13th to get a large group of the guys to hit your track for 1/8 and 1/10 scale racing, unless there is something going on I am not thinking of? My goal was to release all the information in August because it would give us enough time to get everything in place. I am a firm believer if your going to do something do it right. I wanted to make sure every detail was complete so we could really impress everyone. I am going to do my best to push the date forward, but it may not be complete. So details are on the way soon. Uncle E 06-26-2009, 12:03 AM Make it up to Roman Grounds to see what a few guys have been working on? Might want to thank Roman for keeping this race on this side of the state. Might want to get involved in the excitment of creating something new in West Michigan. Looking for guys to Video the race. Take photos of the track at dusk. Forums are active with East siders asking for photos and information. Things could not be more active at Virus right now it is amazing. It would be awesome if someone "outside" of Virus could post photos etc about what Virus is doing, so that everyone could have a clearer understanding of what Virus is and is up to. This mind set of what Virus is going to do, or do for me has to change. Virus is doing. Participate- become involved and worry alittle less about what someone is going to do or do for you and before you know it-- you'll have what we've been talking about. I think Washburns know exactly what I'm talking about. CharlesWashburn 06-26-2009, 12:18 AM  Hey E are you or anyone going to be at romans on saturday or BFG tomorrow night?? let me know XXX-Steve 06-26-2009, 02:26 AM One of the team members down in Kzoo is an oval FANATIC, so things might be more realistic than you think. Well, I still don't have any idea of what's in the works. All I know is there are others who are looking at doing some new stuff, also. Like I said, I guess it's going to be a wait and see thing. I'm excited to see what happens... A lot of comments were kind of reflecting how I felt about the situation at MX131. It appears this was just a fluke now? Looks like the track is going to be up again soon here. rc332 06-26-2009, 06:10 AM  Hey E are you or anyone going to be at romans on saturday or BFG tomorrow night?? let me know We will be here both days, Got a great start on the pit lane last night and some great ideas for the track. Trying to get as much done early, so it has some time to set up. ehartman_49348 06-26-2009, 07:41 AM This decision to have it at Romans was suggested right away by Edwin who isn't "Officially", if you will a Virus member yet, along with myself. This thing hasn't even really been exposed yet. So please wait like the rest of us and see what comes about. From what I'm hearing this thing is gonna spread statewide. I think it's only gonna make this hobby more exciting. Is it August yet? Later Scott Partially true. When I got to MX131 Monday night and found out about the situation, me and Hank Washburn started to brainstorm and came up with several tracks on the West side of the state capable of hosting the tri-county shoot-out. This list of tracks was passed on to Al Horne who made the decision on where to run. ehartman_49348 06-26-2009, 07:43 AM A lot of comments were kind of reflecting how I felt about the situation at MX131. It appears this was just a fluke now? Looks like the track is going to be up again soon here. Not sure who you have been talking to, but MX131 currently has NOTHING to run an RC race, except for 10 house transponders. MX131 does NOT have an AMB decoder, as that was mine. Hank Washburn and I have both dis-associated ourselves from MX131 and we were the only ones involved in the organization besides the owner Tony, who is not into RC. If MX131 does start hosting RC races again, that would be great! But I don't think it's likely. S.Higbee 06-26-2009, 07:44 AM Partially true. When I got to MX131 Monday night and found out about the situation, me and Hank Washburn started to brainstorm and came up with several tracks on the West side of the state capable of hosting the tri-county shoot-out. This list of tracks was passed on to Al Horne who made the decision on where to run. So I was close!!! Just trying to explain that it wasn't Virus Racing making the decision. Anyways wait till you see the new pit road. WOW! Later Scott Revo 06-26-2009, 08:07 AM Just trying to explain that it wasn't Virus Racing making the decision. Yes that is correct. To be perfectly clear on that, as Edwin said, he and Hank called Al Horne and Al was the guy who made the decision to move the race. Uncle E, Virus Racing and all of you great guys working your butts off at Roman Grounds are the ones who stepped up to make it all happen after it was offered to us. Uncle E 06-26-2009, 08:13 AM Well, I still don't have any idea of what's in the works. A lot of comments were kind of reflecting how I felt about the situation at MX131. It appears this was just a fluke now? Looks like the track is going to be up again soon here. Steve, step up and make something happen over at MX that would be so cool. Losi Duck stepped up at Gobles and go some life back into the place. Keep us informed as to what you are up to over there. grunt66 06-26-2009, 08:23 AM HEFFAE, HOW SMALL? I have a small wire welder that might do the job for ya Revo 06-26-2009, 08:28 AM This mind set of what Virus is going to do, or do for me has to change. Virus is doing. Participate- become involved and worry alittle less about what someone is going to do or do for you and before you know it-- you'll have what we've been talking about. I think Washburns know exactly what I'm talking about. Well, I still don't have any idea of what's in the works. All I know is there are others who are looking at doing some new stuff, also. Like I said, I guess it's going to be a wait and see thing. I'm excited to see what happens.... Uncle E just hit it out of the ballpark with that comment. And Steve, thats how we want it for now, part of the fun is the not knowing all the details! I will just say this, as with most things in life, no matter how much Virus Racing does, how well we do it, and how good our intentions are, there is always going to be someone not happy who feels left out or feels we are not catering to them. What about me?!?! We are going to have to make tough calls at times to decide what to promote, where to promote it, and who needs to be involved in our events. I can only guarantee that not everyone will be happy all the time with our decisions. But I truely do hope we make the majority of the people out there happy most of the time. I want to stress something Uncle E said that is VERY important. The attitude of "What is Virus going to do for me?" is understandable, but might not be the best attitude to have. As Uncle E said, Virus is ALREADY doing stuff. This Tri County Nitro Series race is not going to just happen on its own. There are a bunch of guys, Virus Racing team members and fellow racers working side by side to prepare for this event. This goes back to more of what Uncle E said, if you like something we are doing, participate and become a part of it. The new attitude needs to be what are WE all doing to improve the RC community in Michigan? The more everyone joins together for the good of everyone, the less what are you doing for me there is. The next 10 days are all about making Roman Grounds ready to host the Tri County Nitro Series Race #2. The more help we get up there the better the event will be. grunt66 06-26-2009, 08:47 AM WOW, I did'nt mean to open a can of worms about Oval racing and I know Kzoolou is as insane for Oval racing as I am. I just don't know how to go about putting togather a big race like this. Duke says oval racing is making a come back I did'nt know it died. I have been to Dukes not to race just to look around but from what I saw he has a first class facilty there and a great Oval track that someday I'll race on. Also John at BFG has a darn good oval. Now heres the point in the winter months at BFG we see all kinds of oval racers but in the summer what happens to them all? Sure you all will say it's indoors and it's hot I hear all kinds of excues Can VIRUS RACING help? bring the oval racers out? CharlesWashburn 06-26-2009, 10:26 AM We will be here both days, Got a great start on the pit lane last night and some great ideas for the track. Trying to get as much done early, so it has some time to set up. Sweet I will be there for sure on Saturday!! Revo 06-26-2009, 10:54 AM Just a heads up for everyone, Boatman will be running the mod buggy and mod 4wd classes only at the Electric Nationals this weekend. He is in heat 14 and 25 today. He decided not to run his mod truck, but Travis Amezcua will be running it for this event instead. Travis finished 4th in his first qualifier with Boatmans truck, behind Cavaliri and Tebo. They are currently under a rain delay. beefgravy 06-26-2009, 01:42 PM Looking for guys to Video the race. Take photos of the track at dusk. Gravy Out...... 2fst2c 06-26-2009, 01:48 PM I have a video camera with a nice tripod. Makes it easy to get steady shots. I don't think CJ was so much asking why don't the guys from Duke's, Stateline, etc. come race at BFG (although they are always welcome), but rather the same question I keep asking myself: Where do the 20 to 25 oval racers that we get at BFG every week during the winter go during the summer? Are they racing oval at other tracks because of our facility being indoors or another track being closer to home, or are they just not racing oval at all over the summer? Either way, it makes it a little tougher to keep the oval program going through the summer and to keep the doors open with the lost entries. exlor8er 06-26-2009, 06:45 PM Again, this whole thing still seems a little vague as far as what this is all about and what steps you're going to take to make this hobby what you want it to be in Michigan.. The whole things seems a bit vague to me also. It's like there is a test market campaign for a idea going on. I do have a question: Other than putting on the region 5 race what qualifies virus racing to determine what is good for R/C racing in Michigan? Mike Champ 06-26-2009, 07:26 PM wow.. I didn't read everything that was posted here in the last 24hrs, but there is one thing I'd like to say... I haven't read a post that was asking "How can I be part of it? Sounds exciting..." If you are not getting it, no big deal, just wait and see... If you are excited by being a part of helping Michigan being a more enjoyable and more competitive state, ask the members and they will tell you what needs to be done... It's that simple... The concept is just great! No need to challenge everything Virus Racing team is trying to put in place... It will be beneficial to EVERYBODY that is racing in the midwest... whether you are an active member or just see the change from the outside... Racers, track owners, everybody... Constructive remarks are always welcome !!! Drama is really not needed here... Let's keep our energy to focus on achieving the goal, not challenging everything. Right now i believe it's about the race at Romans the weekend of July 4th... Michigan is a great place to race, and it is going to be even better!!! Revo 06-26-2009, 07:48 PM The whole things seems a bit vague to me also. It's like there is a test market campaign for a idea going on. I do have a question: Other than putting on the region 5 race what qualifies virus racing to determine what is good for R/C racing in Michigan? We have to be qualified to have an idea? What qualifies you to question my qualifications? Just kidding. As I said, some people wont get it and others wont want to be part of it. From your comments already I can tell this whole idea and all the things we want to do will drive you nuts. You might be better off just ignoring the whole Virus movement in the months to come. XXX-Steve 06-26-2009, 08:42 PM Steve, step up and make something happen over at MX that would be so cool. Losi Duck stepped up at Gobles and go some life back into the place. Keep us informed as to what you are up to over there. It doesn't sound like I'm needed up there right now. Besides, I'm not a huge fan of off-road and I'm still just getting into learning everything about the setups, driving technique, etc. I wouldn't even know how to go about an off-road layout and what would be needed to build a track there. As you know, oval is my big thing and it's what I seem to do best at. Speaking of Gobles, Don isn't the only one helping out over there. You know, they have a decent track and a lot of people that support it. It does kind of bother me that only a couple of members on this board have volunteered to help out with things. I wonder why there were so many people in the hobby that once supported that place and have now left it in the dust. I'm sure there's someone here that could answer that for me. Maybe that will also help a couple of people understand why this matters to me so much. Still having a hard time seeing how Virus picking up the pieces after a track owner pulled the plug is a bad thing for RC. I didn't say it was a bad thing. I think it's cool they stepped in and kept the race going. My gripe was with some of the decision making behind it, though. Where do the 20 to 25 oval racers that we get at BFG every week during the winter go during the summer? Are they racing oval at other tracks because of our facility being indoors or another track being closer to home, or are they just not racing oval at all over the summer? Either way, it makes it a little tougher to keep the oval program going through the summer and to keep the doors open with the lost entries. I've also been asking that question as you know, John. I wonder what would happen if there wasn't a Winter. Would there be a need for your track during that time of year? At the very least, you think that some of those guys could come out at least once and show some appreciation that they do have your facility to race during the cold months. Really, all those guys are cool as hell and I miss seeing and racing with that group. Nothing against any of them. Like you, I'm just saying... wow.. I didn't read everything that was posted here in the last 24hrs, but there is one thing I'd like to say... I haven't read a post that was asking "How can I be part of it? Sounds exciting..." I didn't know I could be a part of it. No one has invited me and I don't recall anyone posting any details on how to become a member. I have to say, I've heard at least a couple of opinions from different people who haven't spoke up on the board here and their overall perception is that you guys want to keep this a close knit family. Maybe that will change when the big announcement is made. I didn't mean to start any drama, either. I don't have any reason to. Those I've met in this group have been super friendly and helpful to me on and off the track and those I haven't seem like they'd act the same. Just like REVO asked, I'm only stating my opinion here and sort of representing other individuals and racers in the area who are looking at making changes, also. buglite97 06-26-2009, 08:43 PM [QUOTE=exlor8er;2880258]The whole things seems a bit vague to me also. The funny thing here is, we started Virus Racing last year and we didnt do a whole lot with it since September. But we did such a nice job at the ROAR Regional that people kept talking about Virus. Now almost a year later, the name is bigger and the interest is growing because we didnt promote it? Got to love it! I will use Dudda's coined phrase......Viva la Virus! Uncle E 06-26-2009, 10:20 PM The whole things seems a bit vague to me also. It's like there is a test market campaign for a idea going on. I do have a question: Other than putting on the region 5 race what qualifies virus racing to determine what is good for R/C racing in Michigan? Guys go easy on exlor8er, he's only 8 or 9 years old. Some of us might have been a little agressive in our responses. I for one am sorry for anything agressive I've said in my posts. Sorry little dude! Nolan31 06-26-2009, 10:35 PM Some of you might remember the WOOR team Champy should remember when we all shared our set ups and help each other out to become better and help out NEW racers. And all you all have to do is a search on these thread for WOOR and see what we did and I feel Virus Racing is just taking it to the next level and I can't wait to see it and help them out with all my knowledge which is a little rusty but still there.
