View Full Version : Dirt Runners 2010 Outdoor Racing Season - Oak Ridge, NJ
solographix 06-07-2010, 01:53 PM I did notice many races had no drivers (from the previous race) marshaling. I don't want to start yet another Sh*tstorm but leaving it to the kids ain't good either. They also need to learn drivers do marshal too and that there is system..
I agree with you 100% but I am also guilty of this sometimes as well. When somethings broken I tend to work on the car.
radsnappy 06-07-2010, 06:55 PM Holy moly. Everyone take your skirts off for a minute. Geeez cant anyone have a little Banter (as Tim called it, I always liked that word Tim). Thats the problem with the internet. Misinterpretation. Forget it.
talkin about skirts , are you comin to the next race or gonna sit home and gander at the boat in the driveway while having a soda pop and typeing trash on the computer LOL LOL LOL
cobra22431 06-07-2010, 07:52 PM There was a set of rules I posted last year, I will revise them to what I have learned since then and post it. The electric rules I did were almost the same as nitro, tires, spoiler etc. As much as I love my side dams on some of my 1/10 stuff I believe the 1/8 car having one would be a safety isse so we wont be allowing those either. There needs to be a limit on the motor so it does not get out of hand like vac cleaner motors etc LOL But its very obvious the tire we all use is the limiting factor of speed. So it ends up to be who can setup and drive well not a motor and battery war. I know my rules had it at 4S to keep weight similar to nitros for safety and the typical hard case battery rules. Comparing the EL8's that ran yesterday to the nitro L8's that ran yesterday are like comparing apples to oranges . The DLMRA rules allow the use of modded 28s in nitro and 2250 or smaller brushless and 4s in electric . We only allow 21's in L8 and since there are no rules for E8 (which needs to be addressed by the way since they wouldn't even let us run L8's until rules where in place ) they can run anything they want .
cobra22431 06-07-2010, 07:55 PM worked well Bob, good job and was a great idea to do it that way. We just need a second one at other end of track. What was the general concensus on the pipe I burried for the hose? Did it make any life easier? Just curious.

Grumpynm 06-07-2010, 10:00 PM Just a note, that hose pipe is around 10 inches under the surface so any movement does not crack the oval.
Bob
Like they said the pipe worked great...thank you..

cobra22431 06-08-2010, 07:20 AM Castle sells the motor I ran with the speedo as a combo. The reason I use qty 2 2S packs is if I need them for another car I breakup the pack I tape together and use it. 4S packs are coming down in price big time now, promatch has 4S hard case with built in safety features for $125 free ship. Not sure if I will get one of them or not as I also retire my race batterys to my electric airplanes and having 2S packs will be versatile and could be 2S 4S or even a 6S pack depending on what I need. If you have a losi nitro its $70-80 for a real nice electric conversion kit, triple strap battey tray and motor mounts and spur and hardware etc. My 1/8 LM is really an offroad buggy not a losi LM. I wanted to do that because of the bumps that show up on our track during a race day. If you want to do anything electric let me know I can help with any info u need You can never have too much information.
Thanks:thumbsup:
cobra22431 06-08-2010, 07:23 AM What u asking mark for eh tim??? lol
cobra22431 06-08-2010, 07:26 AM Yea that dyson looks like a real cheater motor to me and its BRUSHED bah humbug (piece of crap) LOL , looks allot like the electric astro 40 size motor i have in 2 of my airplanes. bloody brits allways going overboard same as drinking to much LOL DYSON MOTORS ARE BANNED TOBY, buy usa LOL TobY

Thanks Brian,
I am toying with converting my extra DO chassis and running both classes. Ofna makes a conversion kit. Don't know if it will actually ever happen though. I'll have to see how funds go.

Lap Traffic 06-08-2010, 08:54 AM Easy boys... Just a thought at this point. It's a pricey proposition.

Brian and I moved it up there to see if we could come up with a covered driver's area for our practice days but it was too big for the drivers stand.:o

You should have plenty of free time to put it together now and the money you'll be saving on gas from driving up on the off days, I say build it LOL LOL LOL! !!!!!

I focus most of my restraint on running new Nitro classes.
I do an excellent job at that.
But then I don't have much [restraint] left over for new electric classes.

I never said I'm not going up on off days. I was going up last night, but lost track of time. I'm just not picking up a pine handle. I'll be there plenty trying to practice on a crappy track.
Not dredging it back up, but it is truly a sad state of affairs and bothers me a lot.
Oh well.

Hey Bob, I would like to convert my Cen Matrix buggy to run eLM. I have a Novak HV 6.5 motor in it and am not sure if this is legal. Also wondering what to do about the front bumper situation. Any info would be greatly appreciated.:)

I run only nitro Late Model currently and haven't been involved in the development of the electric class or their rules package. I believe Brian Carey (Cobra22431) is working on them.
If you look at some earlier posts (a page or two back) Mark Strern (TA Man) and Brian had posted some motor/battery information.
Brian and Mark are the electric wiz-kids and I'm sure can offer more guidance than myself.
As far as the front bumper goes, you could manufacture your own or see how a Losi or Ofna DO front bumper might adapt. For the rear use the Losi L8 body mount.
I always carry an extra DO front bumper with me, so if you want to see if it is a possiblity, see me at the next race. I pit by the food stand and will have a black Audi Q7.
I'll be more than happy to help you anyway I can. There are a lot of smart guys in this class with some great ideas also.

Nice Job Nick. like the graphic about what ran in 2009.
For Slash Spec, do you want to list the new BF hard compound tires also ? I noted lots of trucks running them last week, and pretty sure some were running S1 BF tires (I touched some on one truck and the difference was clear) which I know are not allowed. Tough to curb their use mind.
