Jerzferno 05-18-2010, 06:58 AM We could put small folding chairs this way people may sit instead of standing and blocking a corner from vision.
Thats a good idea too Adam. Somehting to get the marshalls lower. The blind spots were tough.
Jerzferno 05-18-2010, 07:02 AM Mike..I hear ya but look on the bright side of things you went home with your buggy in one piece. Derick and I were unfortunate that we werent able too. Altho my car got broken after the race was over. For me I learned I'll have to get someone pull my car off the track and get it out of harms way.
Amen to that JT. I got wacked after my SC mod heat was over. I normally pull my RC's off the track through the hole in the wall, or Alvin picks it off if hes there. But there were others coming on for the next heat blocking the hole. Some newbie decided to run the oval after the off road heat and bam. Good thing nothing broke.
Jerzferno 05-18-2010, 07:07 AM Yeah..no kinda about it. but what did you break? Did anyone make it out of that race alive?
I marshalled your races. I had to jump out of the nitro trucks way a few times. I was by turn #1. Kind of tough to do 3 weeks after knee surgery.
cobra22431 05-18-2010, 07:08 AM Finally we also need a discussion on track watering. The oval does not seem to be a problem because we can water during offroad racing. You cant water the offroad during oval racing because the hose will be on the track during warmup or racing. ( Going over the hose on the oval at high speeds on warmup cant be done) so offroad watering can only be done between heats of offroad racing or during a total shutdown of track stoping the allready very long late finish show we have now.
Method 1: stop the show and water but not in the middle of any class set of heats. This can work but it slows the day down more and there is the issue of when. Also for example say a big class like slash 4x4 or 2wd starts and the track is still wet but just at the start to dry out point. By the time you get to the last heat they are running on a dry track so you get an advantage being in the first heat
Method 2: Water during offroad warmups consistantly during the day to keep the track at a good level of moisture so nobody has to run on a dry track or go home later in the day because of the extra time method 1 takes. This method will take more people getting involved in track watering. Grab a hose when you can see dry spots instead of waiting for someone else to do it.
Does anyone have a method 3 or 4 thought?
Just a note getting more people involved in track setup, watering, during day fixes and off race day work on the track is important. We cant expect the same people to do it alone all the time. I am legally disabled with back problems but I still get my ass out there to do what I can even tho i am in pain. So please all of you think about what you can do also.
We are a club and its for all to work together and also make decisions together. I suggest these issues be kicked around here on the board and then put to rest during a drivers meeting via a vote before racing starts at the next race.
Jerzferno 05-18-2010, 07:12 AM I just raced for the first time over the weekend, and had a great time. But thats a long day to only run one class. So I picked up a 2wd slash, and I was wondering if its leagal to use comm. drops. Someone told me no, but he wasn't positive. Does anyone know for sure?
Comm drops are not allowed. Box stock Slash. Only upgrades allowed are:
Transmitter/Receiver
Body
Aluminum shock caps
RPM gear cover
RPM rear bumper mount
Any pinion that came with the truck. There was some variation as to what people got with their truck. So it was decideded 18T, 19T, and 23T.
Break in your motor properly, and keep it clean and lubricated. It will give you better service and last much longer compared to not maintaining it.

Here are my thoughts on this - for what it's worth.
Watering should not be done between qualifying heats of the same class, it is a distinct advantage to have 1 of the multiple heats having a wet track when the others run on a dry track. The real problem with watering between heats is, the people who go out to water tend to do it a heat or 2 before theirs, which is an unfair advantage. Maybe not intended as one, but it can be easily construed that way.
If watering the track is that big of an issue, we can 2-3 breaks in the racing action to water the off road track, it takes all of 5 minutes at most with 4 hoses going.
Another option is to invest in standoffs for the hose so we can water during the oval races, put one inside the off road wall, and 1 outside the oval wall, supporting the hose accross (even use a clamp to hold it in place if need be). Although, I don't think it needs to come to that.
HYDE16 05-18-2010, 08:00 AM I was there when that happened, I was the one who suggested the battery replug, This could be a solder issue on the connector on eother side or possibly even a spectrum reciever issue. Check solder connections under shrink on both sides and if not send the reciever in for check and possible upgrade. I had a shutoff problem, they upgraded the reciever firmware and it went away
Brian
Thanks again for the help on the track Brian, I appreciate it.
Were you the guy who kicked me off your driver's stand with your name on it?

Getting more people on the hoses is a big part. I watered the track for the Truggy main by myself.

A great idea Nick. Something I mentioned last year. But it was discussed (and I still dont agree) that it would be a vision obstruction. ha ha. If you lose track of a car wizzing by a 5/8" diameter hose......... Maybe you should not be racing RC's. Actually I called them hose bridges. Can run the hose over the oval in between heats and start watering. Water until the heat is over and the track is ready for the following off road heat. The outside oval stand can be permanent. The inside one can be as simple as a tomato stake welded to a truck tire rim with a Y on top to hold the hose. Then it can be removed when the off road track is being used. GREAT IDEA Nick.
HYDE16 05-18-2010, 08:20 AM Hey everyone, pictures are finally up!
I got home Sunday night dead tired but couldn稚 stop myself from sorting through 1500 pictures to bring you the next round.
This time I used a longer zoom (which made some people a little self-conscious when I walked by ***Randy***) for better up-close action shots.
I tried something a little different this time and tried to shoot in order of the races.
I shot the race posting first, then the drivers on the stand, the drivers and their cars passing in the same shot and eventually as many cars as I could.
Aside from several races in-between the races I participated in, I think I got a lot of classes covered.
If you catch me beforehand and want some action shots, show me your car/truck and I値l try to cover it more.
As always, shoot me an email at RJacobs1@gmail.com with your favorite shots and I値l do my best to email you the original pictures.
Adam, I値l have a DVD of these at the next race for you to upload to the DR facebook site.

radsnappy 05-18-2010, 09:49 AM My 2「 on the marshalling is these little kids shouldn't be substitutes for racers without some guidance for most of the faster classes, just my thoughts on that.the faster cars can be intimidating as it was for my kid two years ago when he got taken off his feet by a sprinter, let them stick with the slower vehicles

dano628 05-18-2010, 10:13 AM On the marshalling comments . Last year when I mentioned people marshalling on the inside during L8 and making it hard to see , some of the same people complaining about it now on the offroad track didnt want to hear it .
Lap Traffic 05-18-2010, 10:23 AM Well my same 2cents.
From track work, to mashalling, to watering the track, to doing anything remotely resembling anything other than racing, the majority does just not want to participate.
Friday night I spent driving to Sussex to pick up a roller, because without one we are not racing the oval.
There were three people there last Saturday to prep both tracks. I am personally getting tired of being one of the few that are always there. Maybe we should just go back to raceday prep and get out even later than we do now.
And believe me I'm not looking for a pat on the back. I do it because I enjoy racing on a decent track, but some participation would be nice. New year same as the old year.
Lap Traffic 05-18-2010, 10:26 AM Results?
Lap Traffic 05-18-2010, 10:36 AM Paul,
Thanks for all your time working on the track and re-doing the oval on Sunday morning. That was actually why I got there so early.

tobamiester 05-18-2010, 11:26 AM Paul,
Thanks for all your time working on the track and re-doing the oval on Sunday morning. That was actually why I got there so early.
Absolutely. Thanks Paul, Bob, Dan and JT for working over the weekend and getting the Oval sorted. it was sweet on Sunday
Myself and Mark worked a little on the track during last week. More just maintenance from mother nature's rain delivery. One thing I did was replace the first whoop on the left with just dirt (took out the pipe). Did you guys notice ? it seemed to hold up nice. If your cool with it, i'll get up there this week and do the same with all the whoops. Let me know (pissing down with rain here in Verona, so prolly be later part of week).
spikeitaudi 05-18-2010, 11:34 AM Thanks to all who work on the track. It is greatly appreciated.
Also, thanks to all behind the scenes that make the race days go without a hitch.

Toby, my rants are never directed at people that actually help out and believe me everyone knows who you are.
With 141 pre-regs and a total of 190? entries, no one showing for track prep is just aggravating. It's funny how many show for practice on off weekends, but not the day before a race as they may have to do something.
As far as the whoops, they all need the pipes pulled and to be rebuilt with dirt.
I'm certainly cool with it. However, it's not my decision. I'm just a small fish in a big pond. I say have at it. I can't make it during the week to help though.
cobra22431 05-18-2010, 11:58 AM Nick the suggestion of watering during the time between heats says keeping the track wet all the time making the track even and more fair to run on. Watering on breaks can give advantage to first heat after watering in a big class over the last heat running on a track allready starting to dry out. We have removed the 10 minute a mains to save time why stop the show for this? The idea of water hookups inside the track is a very good one so you can water during oval racing. We need a way to take care of this until that can be done. Also if we used the break way of watering certain classes need it more than others like 2wd classes, mod buggy and slash.
Although, I don't think it needs to come to that.
cobra22431 05-18-2010, 12:01 PM Yea I know im 6 foot and an inch but i need sumthing to stand on because holding my arms lower is less pain for me. Thats why I went out and bought it and put my name on it because i did not want to kick a kid off the others that are supplied by members of the club. Any time you need help with a car come see me, I like to help other racers! Thanks again for the help on the track Brian, I appreciate it.
Were you the guy who kicked me off your driver's stand with your name on it?
BL_Trackstar 05-18-2010, 12:05 PM Do you guys always prep the track the saturday before a race?
Lap Traffic 05-18-2010, 12:11 PM As stupid as this may sound.
We could bury 4 pieces of plastic pipe big enough to slide a hose through, under the oval, to the offroad track. This way there are no vision complaints and there is nothing that would have to be drained in the off season. Cap them off when not in use to keep the muck out. I don't imagine digging the trenches would be that big a deal. Start with one and see how it works.
spikeitaudi 05-18-2010, 12:17 PM Adam,

Lap Traffic 05-18-2010, 12:17 PM Do you guys always prep the track the saturday before a race?
It depends on the condition, but generally yes. It always needs pre-race prep. To try and do it race day just slows up the show.
Some of the guys (Paul,Toby, Dan, JT) go up during the week and work their a$$es off when they can. I can only make weekends.
radsnappy 05-18-2010, 12:18 PM yeah baby yeah!!!!
Didn't know you were related to Austin powers,LOL
