View Full Version : Dirt Runners 2010 Outdoor Racing Season - Oak Ridge, NJ
HYDE16 05-12-2010, 01:39 PM Looks like this guy wants a truggy. And I just met a guy with a truggy who wants to race this Sunday. Considering one myself. Sounds alive and kicking to me..
Toby, which truggy are you looking at?
Lap Traffic 05-12-2010, 01:50 PM Thanks for hooking me up Bob .:cool:
Anytime.
Tractor Supply has a 24" by 48" $199.00. I don't know what we paid for the polly roller.

tobamiester 05-12-2010, 01:55 PM Toby, which truggy are you looking at?
RC8T of course :)
HYDE16 05-12-2010, 01:59 PM I'll tell you, I loooove the look of the RC8T CE.
The rolling chassis is >$550 then add in electronics, engine, etc. it's like $1K for the build right?

Yeah, that sounds about right :)
HYDE16 05-12-2010, 02:13 PM what engines would you possibly toss in that truck?
Lap Traffic 05-12-2010, 02:22 PM what engines would you possibly toss in that truck?
I run a Mugen Ninja JX21 in my STRR. Has more than enough power. I have also run Werks TL B7 pro 21. in my HB lighting found it to be a good motor.
Tug Speedman 05-12-2010, 02:46 PM fyi don't let the boss catch ya at work on hobbytalk. or should I say check the history
Grumpynm 05-12-2010, 06:31 PM What happened to the roller? I know it isn't holding water, but is it a hole puncture or a gash/slit type puncture? And is the puncture on the side or the rolling surface? It might be repairable the same way pond liners are done if it is polyethylene or PVC and the puncture is on the side, or with a plastic weld kit, like repairing a kayak.
I think your right about the plastic weld kit...I thought I had one a work. But .I can not find it...The crack is close the the end on the roller on the roller surface..anybody have a weld kit??
picked up 10x10 canopy tonight:thumbsup:..no more sitting in the heat all day for me and the boss.....is it sunday yet....:dude:

I couldn't believe you did the last race without one. :)
BuzzBomber 05-12-2010, 09:36 PM ...and that's why I park under the tree. No room in the Mustang for a standard EZ-Up. I've got to get something though, having no shade is killing me...

The best money you ever spent in RC..
Gary NJ 05-12-2010, 10:56 PM Gary, I believe there is an old roller there made out of what looks like two pieces of large diameter steel pipe. The welds holding the sections together are broken. I don't even know if it would be a viable short term solution.
The other solution that was dicussed last year, was filling the old roller (with the seat) with some sort of aggregate media. But it has many holes in it.
I'll take a look at it Sunday, Bob, and see if it can be rewelded.
Lap Traffic 05-13-2010, 07:58 AM Thats a good looking roller .
Might be able to pick on up at an area Tractor Suppy.

They have one in stock at the Tractor Supply in Sussex.
radsnappy 05-13-2010, 10:29 AM Two things
One if the roller can be welded I have access to a stick welder and I personally have a 220volt mig welder but would have to get it to my house
Secondly, I suggested to get a new roller from homedepot and wait two weeks and exchange the broken one as a defect then we would have two rollers and make a double roller, twice the rolling power!!!!

I guess all we need is authorization to by it and someone with a truck?
Also we need to make an area to park the roller new or old. Dragging it over all of the rocks in the lot (as we/I have been doing) is not helping their longevity. Just my 2 cents

Good idea except they no longer carry the one we have. I wonder why:rolleyes:

nicwald 05-14-2010, 09:18 AM Finishing updates on all the rules, have made a couple changes/updates to the rules format.
For completeness, I would like to add in Mini Cooper Rules (same for oval and road course).
Please take a look and let me know thoughts/concerns/changes - I put this together as a starting point so let your opinions be heard now.
Since this is a spec class, I based the rules off of the slash, but opened them up to the 3 mini variants, M03, M04 and M05 (all short configurations).
Tamiya Mini Cooper
This class is intended for racers looking to compete in close, cost controlled racing, with realistic looking fwd mini coopers.
If it’s not mentioned in the following rules, it is illegal.
Base Vehicle: Tamiya M03, M04 or M05 Mini Cooper, short chassis variants (long wheelbase is not allowed). Pro versions are specifically not allowed.
Chassis/Components: Vehicle must remain box stock, no hop ups allowed.
Body Clips: Any standard r/c body clip may be used (locking or regular).
Motor: Tamiya 540-J motor (53689), or as supplied with official tamiya kit
Batteries: Roar approved 6 or 7 cell sub C battery pack, 2S Hard Cased LiPo battery or LiFeO4 Battery– see general rules, batteries. The use of LIPO and LiFeO4 batteries are permitted in this class, but due to the battery compartment having a rounded profile, the only legal packs for this class must have a rounded hard case. I.E. Orion/Peak 2400, 3200, and 3400 Carbon Edition hard cased batteries, Reedy 2400 and 3400 stick LIPOs. Modifying the M-chassis to fit other hard case LIPO batteries is not permitted. Note: New batteries released in the future that have a rounded hard case and have larger capacities will be permitted. There is no mAH or C rating limit. All Lipo’s must be 7.4 Volt 2S-1P configurations.
Battery/Motor Connectors: Any allowed, not restricted to stock connectors.
Speed Control: As supplied with official Tamiya kit or TEU-101BK (90494)
Servo: Any allowed.
Radio/Receiver: Any ROAR allowed Radio/Receiver Combination is permitted, e.g. you may switch the receiver and transmitter from the units supplied with the vehicle.
Suspension: Must remain stock. No Modifications or alternate parts allowed otherwise, e.g. no shock limiters, shortening of springs or drilling/filling of shock pistions.
Steering: Stock components only, no changes allowed.
Transmission: Stock transmission in box stock configuration only (Only grease may be used in any part of the transmission). Pinion and spur gear combinations are limited to box stock configuration.
Wheels/Tires: Tamiya 60D tires and wheels only (50683, 50684, 53254 and 53340). Electrical tape may be used on tires. Traction additive is also allowed on tires.
Bodies: Current TAMIYA Mini bodies available for the M03 and M05 are legal. M04 cars must use M04 bodies that use 60D tires
Windows are not required to be left clear. Paint scheme is up to the individual. Scale realism is encouraged.
Ball Bearings: Allowed – no ceramic bearings and/or hybrid bearings allowed – other manufacturers bearings are permitted.
Air Dams: Not allowed.
Spoiler: Not allowed.
Transponder: Personnel Transponders are permitted and can be mounted anywhere on the vehicle that the owner sees fit. Club transponders are also available for use (mounted with a ¼” hole through the body – see general rules for transponder information).
LiPo Cut-Off/Warning: The use of a LiPo cut-off / warning alarm is allowed as long as there is no performance gain associated with the device.
Finishing updates on all the rules, have made a couple changes/updates to the rules format.

new rules for indoor?...
nicwald 05-14-2010, 09:54 AM new rules for indoor?...
Yea, we ran a whole season of mini coopers indoor on the oval and road course, but never had any written rules, so I figured I would try to have rules for all the classes we race/raced over the last year before I post the rules updates.

Did you look at the exploded view of the trans? I looked at a forward only and the standard trans and there appears to be only one shaft.
Did you have the tranny apart?
