I like the new layout. Nice job fellas. I wont be able to help out this year with the building unfortunately. I have a little knee problem that is preventing me from doing a lot of things. Just a little surgery and Ill be good to go. Another unfortunate thing for me is surgery is April 24th. Yep Ill miss opening day. So hopefully Ill catch race #2? Count me in for the plywood fund.

Solographix, the guy who was with you working on the speakers, did you say he comes on this forum? He told me to check out nitrohouse for the Jammin' SCRT-10, I found this one with a motor and ESC included, wanted to check out what he thought.

looks like we're up to 10 ,we had stingray, stern, bob(lap traffic) and spikeaudi whick i think is dave stefans , i dont know if anyone brought waterseal up to the track or what that would add to the total
nick let us know 10 peeps x 50.00 each should cover it 365 for wood plus water treatment or paint

Dan and I had talked about painting the boards white, I think that would be pretty cool. Outdoor latex isn't overly expensive either.

Pretty much exactly what my brother Derek (the one working on the speakers with me) has.

I ran about 3 battery packs worth today on the track, one each with 2WD Truck, 2WD buggy and 4WD truck. I really like the layout. When the guys decided to put the long straight on the driver stand side instead of the back straight side I was uncertain whether this was a good thing or not. Having driven the track, I think it is a good thing, Cars will probably be going a lot faster on the straight than the tight sections and being able to see better where you are in the lane should make it easier to be in the right place over the jumps. (At least for me - I always had a problem being in the right place over the backstraight double.) But the hairpin at the end of the straight is going to be a great place for pileups.

Regarding jumps: There weren't any today because the dirt isn't here yet.

The track today was very loose because it is basically in the condition after the bobcat leveled it, except for the pipes. An attempt was made to drag the track with the quad but the turning radius wasn't small enough to get around many of the corners, so the driver gave up after a few laps. That meant the track didn't get rolled at all and so was loose dirt. Driving the 2WD was a matter of steering with the throttle and brake. They say in off-road "slow is fast". Well, today I could not really go slow around the corners to go fast - with the loose track condition there just wasn't enough steering available for the 2WDs to turn at anything more than a crawl. So it was a matter of go in hot and brake to rotate the car. The 2WD buggy actually did better at this than the truck. I mostly had enough steering with the 4WD truck to get around without the brake.

Note that the lanes are now 10 ft wide compared to 12 ft wide last year, so the bigger cars are going to have an interesting time. And 10 slashes at once is going to be real interesting.

One other observation: We are now over 2400 posts on this thread and the season hasn't started yet!

Ray, no one brought paint or water treatment on Sunday. We did get all the straights repolaced, have the corners and removable section left. And of course everything needs to be painted/treated.

Thanks guys for your hard work so far on the track. My participation has been less than I had planned due to my folks being in from the UK and um some choice words from the ball-and-chain, i.e "you leave me at home with them and I'll make you suffer...etc etc".

Hope to spend Saturday up there.

Are we talking about the same thing? I wonder, at least if you call it a "small gap." The opening where the stone got in to make the screeching sound is about 1/2" by 1/2". Smaller grit gets in there and scores the driveshaft. I've outlined it in red in the picture:
http://s92437987.onlinehome.us/ebaypics/Misc/opening-2.jpg

Mark, I checked my slash and it indeed has that same opening. Sorry for the confusion. I swore it was covered. Owell.

Finally got time in the Mancave to get the motor/esc installed.

Beat on it in the yard to see how the temps looked. Running in SmartSense mode it was pretty smooth. Ran a little warmer than I thought so may go down a few teeth. ESC felt alot more responsive than the stock VXL.

As you can see my center shaft is scratched up too :freak:

What turn did you get, what did you have it geared (that it was warmer than you expected), and why did you get the Trinity (with the open can) instead of the Novak?

4.5T

Running stock gearing right now which explains the heat. I forget the size of the stock PE spur, but it comes with 2 others so I'll try the smallest (if I'm not running that already).

I went with the Trinity as I read good things about it on a few posts on RC Monster.
I liked the fact that it was the same sized rotor and thus is a pretty much drop in replacement (same pinions as vxl). I don't want to upset any folks but I've never heard anything good about the HV motors. I know alot of people run them in this truck though.
Figured I'd try something different. I'll find out soon enough if I should have followed the crowd :freak:

The open-can concerns me a little, but I have the PL undertray on order which I hope will keep most of the dirt away from it.

Thanks guys.

For some reason at night it looks more brown then what it shows in the picture. I wanted it the same color as the wing but ran out of paint doing the body. So with it being a light coat and then backing with black it got real dark. But I like it ether way.

if he runs stock oval and novice he will need to run box stock setup. So you would need the stock tires.

2wd Slash is a Spec class so you can only run Stock Tires that came with the Slash 2wd.

The new Slash's are coming with the same tires as the 4x4 now so they are also legal . I was talking to Nick about this yesterday he said that the S1 tires that come on the 4x4 platnium will also be legal as there are no markings on them to tell them apart .

Good to know. I need new tires for my 2wd Slash. going to get the Platinum Racing rubber. Should be interesting to see the times they get on the new track. The tires are super soft compared to the old style.

You don't need markings to tell them apart. You can tell them apart by feel and confirm your feel with a durometer. We just choose not to try (to tell them apart). So basically, if the new tires are really better, all the spec racers have to go out and buy new tires to be competitive.

What I would like to know is: if we are allowing the soft tires that come on the 4X4 PE, can we use (in the spec class) the original Slash Tread style tires that are marked "S1"? Or only the unmarked "S1" tires?
