The sprint is done! I just got to mount up and glue all the new tires and make better wheel dots than the ones on it.

I am about 90% done with the latemodel too. I am just waiting on Dan to get some fair weather to finish his motor, and some time back here in NJ so I can get him mine. ;)

Buggy has been good to go since last year, just needs a bath and my slash is just getting a new set of rubber and its good to go.

Nice job on the sprinter! Also good to hear there's no water on the track. I hope to get over there in the afternoon; the morning will be easter egg hunt time for my daughter......she's been 'helping" with my cars a lot lately, future pit crew!

Fun day at the track. Offroad was in surprisingly good condition, albeit dusty. Slash 4x4 was a blast.
Good to see folks up there.
Thanks Derek for help with the LM. I didn't break down the motor , but still feels pretty hosed as it did at the track. Was fun to get the car on the track at last..

Yay. Yellow dirt everywhere again...outdoor season is here!!!

Did you have issues with the Slash 4x4 nose diving off the double? I found out the hard way that if I didn't hit the back double dead center, the truck would dive in the air, even at WOT. Let off the gas and it would hit on the front bumper. Might need a spring change? My setup is box stock RTR, except preload adjusted to arms level. I know it was partly driver error though, since it flew okay as long as I got within about a foot of the middle of the jump.

For the most part, it jumped pretty well except a few times, but I blame that on my driving.. I ran the car stock too, except with the center diff installed last week.

If you have the RTR and haven't removed the front shock preloads do it. THat should solve that problem quickly.

Well since I helped him install it, provided a LiPo for its initial run, and its currently sitting in my work shop, I feel I can answer that. LOL He's got the center diff installed (dont know # of teeth?) and a 14 tooth pinion. Last night in the dark running alone its seems really fast. Maybe Alvin and I can take a break from the festivities today and do some speed comparison runs? Ill tell you one thing about speed that I saw when at the track 3 weeks ago. One guy who was there with his 3s powered VXL. TOO much power. With the the wheel spin on the straights, spin outs in the corners, breaking tires loose before jumps and casing because of that, it was slower than our 2s powered VXL's.

I have been tempted since the mod short course thing started.

But, with what its going to cost me to put the sprint car back together after every race, I might need a second job:lol:

You might think that way, but it wont be the case. The first week I ran I should have won. I mounted the club transponder sideways and it miss counted 3 laps. The second week I crashed hard and broke the right rear axle/bearing carrier. That was the last hard crash I took all season. I had my share of tangles and tumbles but nothing broke. You might want to do some hop up on the steering assembly on that CW. That seems to be the week link. The slider bar mechanism thingy (whatever CW calls it/) seems to break relatively easy. The ball mount breaks off. Tim broke his a few times which cost him some good finishes. Other than that you should be fine. Plus its not like you never ran oval before which in itself is a different animal compared to off road. You have lots and lots of L8 model laps. Youll be fine. Besides, youre a carpet sprint "ringer" from what I hear.

Interesting that you chose to go up a tooth while using a higher KV motor. Were you unsatisfied with the speed of the VXL and the 13T pinion?

The 4.5 HV kit comes with 2 suggested pinions. 14 and 16 I believe.

Pretty big pinions considering the motor is rated at a 40% higher KV (than the Velineon) and actually ends up being about 23% higher KV under load. That 16T looks to be good for 50MPH with a 7-cell pack. But then, their 1/8th scale conversions came with pinions that gave you unusable top speeds (for racing) too.

There is lots of metal in the front of my CW. Suspension mount and cross-brace, the steering rack, titanium axles and turnbuckles front and rear.

I crashed out once at extreme and broke all the weak links in the front suspension and then a truck took me out indoor and broke a rear shock tower. They are CF now.

I'm just hoping the wing holds up.

Mark,

I have all the Mod 1 Pinion from Novak. Unfortuately, the packaging that came for the 12,13,14, pinion came with 2, 12 pinion insteam of a 13. So we thought going up would be good. I am most likely going to go back down to a 13 once I get it from Novak.

I hope you mean 32P/Mod 0.8. The Slash 4X4 doesn't use MOD1 gears.

Stronger than 48P and finer gear ratio selection than MOD1.

But those are just rationalizations.

Probably the real reason was that they already made 32P/Mod 0.8 gears for the Revo and Jato. Same reason the original Slash used the A-Arms that it did (instead of doing what Proline ended up doing with the ProTrac kit and coming up with an optimized suspension) - they already made them for another car.

I am pretty sure they are Mod 1 Pinions. I didn't have any issues with the mesh, but I will check next time I am over Steve's as that is where the packaging is.

The Revo uses Mod 1, which is why I assumed the Slash 4x4 would be the same. I'm sure they had their reasons...

Well, I went to the Traxxas site and you know what? We both were right ;) The girly man E-Revo uses .8 and the manly man nitro Revo uses 1.0. I was sure the Revo that uses the 36t - 40t spurs were 1.0, because they say 1.0 on them, and I have some. Part of the charm that comes with Traxxas...
