I'm on high ground, but 23 is closed in Pomton Plains. They are getting ready to close the bridge by the Pompton Falls. The water is actually splashing over it like surf. Some houses off of Black Oakridge road are half under water.

It's pretty ugly and not due to crest till tonight.

I am not missing living in Lincoln Park right now. I am sure Beaver Brook is under water, and we would be evacuated to up here anyways. There is some stuff up here I have never seen such a high water level in. crazy.

Im on a mountain, high and dry, except for a few springs that have popped up letting the mountin relieve pressure. Nothing in the house though. In Somerset County Manville and Boundbrook are under water................again for about the 5th time in the past 11 years. I have to go through Manville to get to work. Dont know if I will be able to get in tomorrow?

My basement's been wet since yesterday afternoon. Luckily the regrading I did in the backyard last year alleviated some of the groundwater infiltration near the foundation, and the sump pumps are doing their job. So I have only had about 1/4" max. water in the puddles, there are even a few dry spots. I really need to get my hands on a generator or a battery backup pump in case the power quits though...

I bet we could run jet boats on the offroad track today:freak:.

BTW, I finally got around to transposing the track sketches I made up during the snow day last month into Autocad......then printed it to photoshop so the layout would show better on the web. So, here's my four track layout concepts. The driver's stand is at the top of each schematic plan.

They could be adjusted to be a bit more space efficient, but I was trying for nice, graceful curves;)...

Got the rest of my parts to re do my Vspec yesterday . Rebuilt it last night new P/S/R , bearings , and insulator she's next in line for the breakin stand . Nice day today hoping to get some fuel through Toby's engine today . The wife is home otherwise I would get them both done ( can only make so much noise for so long or she'll get nasty).

Matt - Nice track designs. Might I suggest flipping them all 180 degrees so the long stretch is on the drivers stand side. This way the pit men can stand infront of their drivers and communicate. Nitro vehicles can pit on a straight instead of a corner. Just my thoughts. They are nice.

I plotted the drain (white square) onto the drawings for a reference point to myself so that I laid out the tracks in a manner where, if desired, they could be either flipped around the longitudinal axis 180° or rotated 180° without the drain interfering too much with the general layout. Of note, the placement of straights and curves has a relationship with viewing angles and distances. I come at this from a background of parks and recreation/site design where spatial relationships are important (and having less than perfect distance vision is also a factor TBH.;) ) To me, it makes a great deal of sense to place the straights where "less critical" driver input is required further away from the driver's stand, and the more technical parts of the track close to the stand where the driver's view is more top-down and close-up. Also, I fear that putting pitmen between the driver's stand and the front straight would cause a visual obstruction - I seem to remember a lot of folks yelling, "MARHALL, can you lean down!? I can't see the corner!" This is not to say that it's the only consideration; other factors may be more important to the majority of the club - like pitting as mentioned.

Hey, maybe I'm overthinking it. I certainly haven't considered everything, and it ain't MY track to design anyway, it's the club's, so any input is welcome. As I said, the designs can be flipped over if desired, and we won't be deciding on a track layout until the first work day anyway.

Nah, when wearing contacts it's not really an issue for me more than anyone else, but I just generally find that most people's depth perception is better close up, so that's where I tried to put the tight parts of the track.;)

Maybe I'll get around to showing some terrain on those layouts before the work day......right now it's too nice out to mess around with computers (well, as soon as I'm done with work anyway...)

Toby I have got about 750cc of fuel through her . I am going to run the rest of the quart through her tomorrow . You will have her Saturday . I am interested in how this engine lasts . There is still a lot of mechanical pinch left in it . More then usual ( not a bad thing so don't worry ) . It sounds good on the stand .:cool:

Nice Dan. Thankyou again. Looking forward to Saturday. I'll have to checkout that break-in stand some time.

Hope to get back from the city earlier tomorrow. There is an old parking lot in the next town. Hope to take the car out and spin it up a little.

I know in the past the oval is pretty much wasted. The corners usually look like roller coasters. But the off road sure is a lot of fun.
