The 09 classes and entries can be found at our webite under results 2009 outdoor season. As far as the water and drainage system goes, I am scheduling as many races as possible this season. There is nothing we can do about mother nature. As long as we keep the current drain line as clear as possible, drainage hasn't been a serious problem. Everyone has to realize rainouts happen, if the track is too wet sometimes there is nothing anyone can do. Believe me I am the last one who wants to cancel a race. If there is something i've missed let me know. As far as a new layout, it will have to have the center drain built in to it. All we can do is hope for dryer weather this coming season.
Yes, that would make the most sense. I don't think anybody wants to go digging up the outlet pipe from the center drain. What I meant was that any additional drain locations we want to build into the track would depend on the layout we choose. A sockwrapped PE pipe set up as a trench drain at the inside curb of the oval would be a good addition for starters. But we'll worry about this stuff later.

Has anybody heard of this http://www.smartdrain.com/. From the clip it looks like something we can use.

It shouldn't be too hard to figure out the optimal drainage setup for the track, but in the end, it will depend on the layout we choose.

i think i can be of some help if needed.

I had no intention of digging more trenches to lay pipe. The first thing we need to do is build up the entire off road track. There are sections that are lower than the drain. Then we need to pitch the track towards the drain where possible. Any jumps or bumps should be constructed in a way so not to create a dam. Once the track is leveled, unobstructed water flow to the drain, and a clear drain, we should no longer have mud boggs to clean up, just some pudding to remove in the event of a down pour.

Sounds good. Surface flow is going to be paramount no matter what else we do, as the track clay mix doesn't percolate very well(as we know from experience:rolleyes:). If we use a laser level/transit to check heights when working up the new track layout we can eliminate low spots and puddling without any guesswork. I have one I can lend the club for the workdays if needed.

The infiltration drain was just a suggestion based on how we design running tracks and ballfields at work. I get a little carried away with the prospect of new projects sometimes. It's definitely more labor and $$$ intensive than trying to solve the problem with grading, however you'd be amazed how many site contractors can't grade things correctly:freak:.

Here are the classes that will probably run outdoors this year.
NOVICE
1/10 BUGGY MOD OFFROAD
1/10 TRUCK MOD OFFROAD
1/10 4WD BUGGY MOD OFFROAD
1/8 BUGGY OFFROAD
1/8 OPEN MONSTER TRUCK OFFROAD
1/8 LATE MODEL OVAL
RUSTLER OVAL ?
SLASH SPEC OFFROAD
SLASH SPEC OVAL
S/C TRUCK MOD OFFROAD- 2WD and 4WD
SPRINT OVAL
EDM OVAL ?
The 2 classes that have question marks after them had low entries last year.

These should be the classes that are discussed at the rules meeting on sunday. Even if we get started on time on racedays early in the season and late in the season daylight is an issue. This has to be a priority to be thought about. We really need to cut at least 2 classes.

I agree with you Wayne. Something has to go. Support the strong classes. Maybe we should add a "Pot Luck" class? Anything not in the above mentioned classes run together. But then again, if the webpage is updated to the new list of classes, with "a minimum of 5 and a class can run" are clearly spelled out, there should be no surprises to any first timers.

Calling all sprint car races. Seeing this list, weak classes may not survive? Guess we shall see on Sunday? Anyway, 2 years ago the sprint car class was Brian, Stingray, and Mark. Last year we added Randy, Nick D., Ray S., Myself, and Tim as regulars. There was an occassional invader here and there as well. Theres some new faces racing indoors and I am hoping they will transition to outdoors? That would be Dano, Bob, and Adam. Did I hear Brian Sr. is running sprint car too? So this year all you guys running outdoors? Tim is in, he's out, he's in? Well see what happens this year? Should be a solid field for sprint cars this year!

Agreed. EDM seemed to make a comeback midway thru the season in 2009.
As far as Rustler goes, IMHO its pretty dead. The 17.5's can't keep up with the stock motors as we all know. No need to debate that and we'll discuss on Sunday.

I enjoyed running the car but couldn't do better than 3rd (even when Brian or Mark got in a mishap, they usual could make up the time, even when i had a good run). No one else ran weekly except myself, Mark, Brian Jr and Sr. I doubt many more newcomers will turn up with a Rustler keen to get into this class weekly and want to be rebuilding stock motors each week, or fork out $160+ for a 17.5/ESC combo.

I want to run an Oval class this summer, but it won't be Rustler or Slash. Thinking about Sprint; trying to not think about about Late Model Nitro

Onstat is selling out of rear Late Model bumpers. If your looking for one, I would place the order. Site says till supplies last, so I would think they are out of production.

With the New Tekin software and the Castle Mamba Max Pro, it is quite possible that the 17.5s would keep up with or go faster than a stock motor. But I can understand people not wanting to spend money on the new speed controls. I'm going to try a Mamba Max Pro/17.5 when the weather gets warmer and I'm going to bring my Rustler to every race for at least a while in case we get enough people.

I will probably attempt to run my sprint for the first couple weeks and see how it goes outdoors. It really is just a hodge podge of parts put together to keep the count up for indoors. I think it might be better outdoors though with the amount of kickup I built into it.
