What I have done? All the old farts are going crazy!!

When I was talking about an over 55 class, I was thinking around the oval...using walkers. ;)
Not ready for the walker yet....but give me another winter like last year and maybe....

Go figure, they speak your language :p. Top gear is my all time favorite.

And what do you know

They have a Reliant Robbin RC Car!!!!!!!!! 3 wheel racing is reality!

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-RELIANT-ROBIN-OVAL-RACER-MARDAVE-BANGER-BASED-/160477623245?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item255d3633cd

I'm almost tempted for the comedy factor!!!

And, they race them about 20miles from my parents home :
H.O.T.s (Haywards Oval Track) based in Haywards Heath, West Sussex

Bloody Hell!!! Who knew..

Its BRCA 4cell / 540 Silver-can based, but sure we could get it running with 1s / Brushless

Only 124 entries as of right now. This may turn out to be a very light turn out for the Challenge.

We will have to play it by ear. The weather forecast has been wrong a time or two.

Yes, usually when it says it is not going to rain.

Up to 132 entries. So far only 3 4wd buggies and 3 e-late models. Those are the only classes that are in jeopardy of not running. Eveything else has plenty.

The Schies family from Hillsborough Hobbies has donated a spectrum radio to the winner of the novice class. The car must be legal though by the rules.

Wayne Miele

I just checked the rules and Brushless motors are not legal. We have been allowing them because a lot of cars come with them. To win the radio you must have a stock motor in your car.

We will hope for the best. That is all we can do. We have run with weather forecasts worse than that.

Awesome day today. All classes ran very well.

Remember concourse judging at 9:15 and we race at 10:00. See you all in the morning.

The accuweather radar does not look very promising. I have to head to Oak Ridge to pick up the trophies regardless. I will inform Nick if he has to post any rescheduling info here and on the web site. Charlie

I allways look at the dopler radar myself because I dont trust weather men. There is a large cell of rain thats going to be over the track soon with intense areas more heavy that look like will move over the track area. here is the link to look if you want below. To me it will come down to getting stared with enough time to finish after it stops if not to heavy rain does not wash out the track, this may prove difficult.

Hi all,
Weather was not great, but not controllable by the group.
Now that Calvin's vehicles are running, I can get my own buggies going better!

Calvin mentioned that we sorta got buggies going again ~4 years ago since that was all we had and what we wanted to run.

I have to say, in general, we are happy we found you guys.

Quick question for indoor season.......when I used to race @ Zepplin, they only allowed "non-reverse" ESC's, can we run reversable ESC's indoors for DirtRunners?

I am running ~1986 vintage Novak's, but all ESC's I own do NOT have reverse. I can see an advantage to having reverse instead of waiting on our "excellent" corner marshalls.
Also, I believe on "bowtie/pin" tires indoors are a no-no, can we run rubber treaded and/or foam tires in all classes indoors?

Chris,

If you show up in this forum, thanks for showing up at DirtRunners. Sorry the weather was not better.:(
I also want to say I appreciate your making suggestions to my son's questions on handling for his Slash.
I know what traveling is like, so while I would like you back for next weeks mains, I also want you home with family.

Speed controls with reverse are allowed, however indoors or outdoors reverse is not allowed to be used during a race. Many racers have used it outdoors and we are on the honor policy, however it is not allowed by the rules.

For tires indoors, no pins allowed, street treads or foams are allowed, for a comprehensive list of what classes allow what tires, please take a look at Http://www.DirtRunners.com

There are several classes that do not allow foam tires indoors, but they tend to be the spec classes.

Well we got washed out today but we will be back to finish it all up next sunday. Remember that we are starting early. 9:15 concourse judgeing and then we race right after that. See you all in 1 week.

If we are only doing Concours and the mains do we really need to start that early?

It's concourse, the rest of round 3 qualifying and then the mains. I believe Wayne was going to use some of the extra time to also do longer mains. There is also the trophy presentations afterward which take time, and are always nice when they are not done using car headlights for illumination ;)

I did read the specs/rules:
1-I wanted to clarify the speed controls since they all say either:
-Speed Control: Any system that does not cause radio interference
or
-Any manufactured over-the-counter speed control (that does not cause radio interference).

Nothing (that I read) about reverse or it's use.

2-Since there were questions regarding speed controls, I wanted to be sure on tires.

Thanks for the replies.
