I'll bring them Sunday. he gave me a call thank u both! Track_Master 07-30-2010, 11:11 PM Anybody going to the track tomorrow to do prep? If so, what time? ta_man 07-30-2010, 11:24 PM Anybody going to the track tomorrow to do prep? If so, what time? Track definitely needs prep. I was there today to run my L8 and my E-8. Oval was dry but with lots of loose stuff. No-go on the off-road track. There was still some water on it and a bunch of major mud bogs along with lots of bear tracks. Major erosion where the water from the oval worked its way across the off-road track to the drain. Lap Traffic 07-31-2010, 07:12 AM Anybody going to the track tomorrow to do prep? If so, what time? I definitely can't make it today. Family obligation. Track_Master 07-31-2010, 08:27 AM I can help out with the track, but since I gave back my keys, I don't have a way in. I can be there between noon and 3 if that helps at all.. dano628 07-31-2010, 11:20 AM I definitely can't make it today. Family obligation. I can't make it today either . Wayne Miele 08-01-2010, 06:28 AM See everyone at the track. cobra22431 08-02-2010, 10:36 AM Mark You wanted to know what my 1/8E LM weighed. It started the race at under 9lbs and ended up over 13.5 lbs (my scale will only measure in .5 lab increments). The dirt and mud was also very heavy around the rear drive and filling all the rims so it was adding allot of drag there and with the 4lb extra weight its no wonder I could not turn under a 9.7 second lap. Traction was very good but it rained to much before I got on the track. I really wanted to run with the nitro guys since I was the only electric willing to run but oh well. Even tho I only got 31 laps I know 32 is possible just by turning 9.6 second laps or less for the whole race So its really a matter of consistence more than turning the hot 9.2-9.3 laps that I have had a few of in the past. The tires are truely the limiting factor in both 1/8 LM classes when track conditions are at their best if you have a good setup and drive well. It only took me 10-15 min to clean the car since its a converted nitro and designed to be easily cleaned. Cut one cable tie and popped off the speedo and 2 screws and the motor was out. Add some water and simple green, blow off with gas blower after rinse and an hour or so in the sun and bingo a clean car. So it was worth it for the fun I had and what I learned about how wet the track can get before its not worth running ta_man 08-02-2010, 03:27 PM Wayne, Here is my preregistration info for the race on August 15th: 2WD Buggy Off Road Spektrum P.T.# 7625356 Truck Off Road Spektrum P.T.# 8077301 Sprint Car Spektrum P.T.# 5570605 1/8th Scale Electric Off Road Spektrum P.T.# 8077301 Slash Spec Oval Spektrum P.T.# 4683421 EDM Brushless 5800/8.5 Spektrum P.T.# 7625356 Short Course MOD Off Road Spektrum P.T.# 7625356 1/8th Scale Electric Late Model Spektrum P.T.# 8077301 Thanks, Mark P.S.: Gee, I think I beat Bob this time! Slashes have taken over where Rustler used to be and the Slashes are much more of a spec class than Rustler ever was. It a literal sense yes, but not for me. The rain started in earnest during the Nitro Late Model main and I decided not to run the Electric Late Model main which immediately followed, and was the last race of the day. So Brian Carey was the only one on the track for that race. His car picked up about 4.5 pounds of dirt in the 5 minutes that he ran. solographix 08-03-2010, 08:57 AM Bob, PM. I dunno the answer to that question but I've got a pair of Kyosho front 4WD buggy wheels with a 12MM hex drive that are 1.1" wide. If you were to cut off the inner bead they would end up .835" wide and you could mount the tire as if the inside part of the bead was the outside of the rim (I've done this to mount rear buggy tires on truck front wheels with the outer bead area cut off). They are yellow dish wheels but you might be able to dye them. $5 for the pair. Oh boy, my brain is fried cuz im putting all these words together and they are scaring the crap out of me! I think the zx-5's rims are specific only to them. If I was doing this I would try to use the associated rims. Just for the fact that there more readily available and different hobby shops. That and also my brain is fired cuz I had a guy asking if they make replacement nipples for a drive shaft on a t-maxx. After a min the guy told me they were aftermarket. The one thing I'm sure not gonna miss about this job. Lap Traffic 08-05-2010, 11:16 AM The one thing I'm sure not gonna miss about this job. You are headed for a whole new set of problems.;) BuzzBomber 08-05-2010, 11:26 AM In my epic quest to make finding what I need as hard as possible, I neglected to simply do a google search on 12mm hex drive buggy rims. That done, now I know that I can use front and rear rims from the HPI Cyber 10B and Brama 10B, and I believe the Cyclone D4, too. Thanks for the input. FWIW, I tried fooling around with some associated and tamiya rims I had around, and the short stub axles on the 1/16 car did not play nicely with the pin drive - had about 2 threads showing when pressed on. The old HPI TC rims worked perfectly with the stock hex drives though:confused:. Just the tires are way too small for what I want to do. At least this project is a better idea than my last parts bin scrounging: YouTube- ‪Franken-Frog‬‎ :p tobamiester 08-05-2010, 11:27 AM Oh boy, my brain is fried cuz im putting all these words together and they are scaring the crap out of me!
