Do any setup work on the L8?

Yeah I am about 70% done .I am rebuilding whole car everything is different going to finish her up tomorrow . Going to give her a test ride tomorrow afternoon .

Well, if it works next Sunday like it did last Thursday we will either be driving on a dry dusty track all day or there will be major delays while we wait for enough water to come out of the hoses. Right now the pump can barely put out enough water to keep ahead of the sun drying the track.

Just an idea: Maybe we could start a collection for a new pump just like we did for the plywood and materials to refurbish the track this spring.

I don't know anything about pumps, what we would need or where to get them but I will commit $30 as the first contribution to the fund for a new pump if the board deems this necessary.

I am going up to the track in about an hour to test my L8 . While I am there I am going to try and get the impeller housing off it and see what kind of shape the impeller is in . When we used to leave the pump in the trailor every time you used it you had to prime the pump . I think now people are just starting the pump without priming it . The impeller is lubed and cooled by the water starting it dry is like starting your car with no oil pressure .

The pump needs to be brought up the hill to be checked. That has not happened yet.

I believe the impeller has seen better days or it is sucking in air from somewhere.

Does anyone know what happened to the spare pump? I know we had one. Did it fail?

The pump is working fine . Bob took the impeller case off . The impeller is good , the impeller housing is good . Bob removed some stuff blocking the pickup and I took the pickup out as far as it would go making sure it was completely under water . Plenty of pressure now .

well anyways. A buddy of mine is about to take delivery of a shiny new RC8Be (gonna have some buggy envy when it gets here...ah well)...

So he'll need a 4s hardcase. I know he could get two 2s packs etc, but want to keep it simple for him. I see the proTek ones on Amain for $139. Anyone know of better deals ? (He won't want to wait 6 weeks for the $40 ones from Japan).

Its a 2650kv motor, with a big ol blue cooling head on it. I added a speaker on it too, which plays engine noises from a little on-board Ipod. Neat eh :thumbsup:
