Going up to the track tomorrow have to break in three engines . I figure I'll do them there so I don't piss of the wife with all the noise . So the gates will be open around 12:00 .

Will anyone be up at DR this Sunday?
I know Station2 is having a race but is anyone heading up to DR to hang out?

Was up at the track this afternoon with a few guys. If anyone is planning on heading up there, the offroad track is in pretty nice condition. The Oval could use a little work, but in general its very runnable if you stay off the high banks.

One thing we did notice was the pump appears to be having issues. The water pressure was not consistent. Anyone know anything about water pumps and maintenance ? It needs to be looked at before the next race.

Last time I ran the pump, The relief valve seemed to be leaking quite a bit, but the water pressure was ok. Maybe debris in the pickup?

1/8 electric LM rules posted for comments. A good amount of testing has been done by myself and mark when it comes to motors. Also running with toby for referance and the day JT ran with us. Mark has been running a 2200kv motor, I have been running a 2650 kv and mr galliger also had same. The all seem close in speed and basically equal to the motor like JT and toby are running in nitro in speed. I dont agree with max rating motors by kv but most mfgs dont list in spec the best way by watts. So we are stuck for now of limit by kv and size and type ( intended for 1/8 scale racing). The rules are the same as the nitro class in all other ways. I set a limit of 4S lipo for weight/safety reasons. The intention is to be the same as the already accepted by DRs nitro class in speed and weight. This coming race if all cars show up we will finally have 5 i hope (ps thanks nitro guys for the help so far!) here are the rules.
This class is intended for racers looking to compete in 4wd 1/8th scale electric oval. The intent of the class is to race 1/8th scale electric late model oval cars or converted 1/8th scale nitro buggies to late model electric oval cars.

1.2: No offsetting a-arms or narrowing of a-arms

1.4: No one-off chassis. Example: If you have a homemade chassis you must make one for anyone who wants one at a reasonable price or let anyone copy it. As a manufacturer or a person who would make one for someone you don't have to let them copy it.
1.5: Wheel base: 12 5/8" to 13"

1.7: Any and all parts must be flush or inside the tread width. 1/8 tolerance.
1.8: All chassis and tires must remain inside the body.
1.9: No metal or carbon fiber front bumpers.
1.10: Must have foam on the front bumper.

Good work B. I know I said why limit the motor when we were talking at the track, but it makes sense as we have motor limits in Nitro LM.
Might want to be specific to say 'Hardcase 4s only' just to be sure no softies find their way onto the track during race days :)

Due to the rain last night Station 2 will not be running today as the track is under water. Next race at Station 2 will be july 18th.

hey Wayne,im at station 2 6;58 am the track looks pretty good. only 2 small water spots.
that is a bummer im still here if you want to call me.

The whole track was very soft. Not a lot of standing water. Should have the same clay as Dirtrunner's by the race on the 18th.

our battery rules cover batteries in full, same as 1/8 E offroad. I really feel the tires actually limit speed in both classes but I dont think we need to see some very hot electric motor being tried ,same as nitro has rules to keep a 7 port .28 off the track. Just got back from the track ran a pack through Slash 4x4 . Track was dry and dusty the calibers hooked up really well . Man it is great leaving so close to the track !!!

Still waitin' for my Tekin 2050 system from Tower. :( I guess they've designed a new case for the ESC and that's what's taking Tekin so long to get them shipped out to the vendors. Oh well... Really looking forward to finally being able to run this car.

OK folks. Good news and bad news. Lets start with the Good :thumbsup:

Had an impromptu track maintenance day with Damon (For those who don't know him, he's new to the club, raced 8th scale and SC Mod 2WD and has been helping out with the track and is an all round stand up bloke).

We worked on the rutted up section in the middle adding some new dirt:

Next Damon worked on squaring up the Table top and re-seated the pipe:

I also repacked one of the whoops and covered the rutted up section that covers the drainage pipe

Also replaced a white pipe section in front of drivers stand that was pretty jacked up :

Lastly, we re-seated several pipe sections that were either buried or just banked up with dirt to generally make the pipes more effective and eliminating any accidentally/on-purpose race 'short cuts' :)

We did bring a weed whacker and started to clear up some of the undergrowth but it um broke so we only got a little bit of that done.

ok..onto Bad news.

The pump is definitely broke. I checked the intake (that is usually submerged) and its clear. We started the pump and opened the pressure relief value and you can visually see the pressure coming and going, as well as audible noises from the pump that it was gaining/loosing pressure. So how do we get this repaired ? We have a shop we use ?

We can look up the parts/service info on the web. There is a rental/parts company(All Service I think) next to VW on 23 north. I had purchased parts for that pump from them last year. They were very helpful.

I believe we also have a spare pump in the container.

I noted the info on the motor which is a Honda GX 120 but now that I thought about it I suspect the pump part is a different model/part/manufacturer.

If my evil plans come thru this week, I hope to get back up there Thursday so with a little help we'll see if there is a backup pump and test it out, and remove this one and see if we can get it fixed up.

Derek and I are cooking up something special for the next race! But, which class is it for???

I'm pretty sure the other pump in the trailer is unusable. I remember Nick cranking on some part of it to tighten it down and breaking something off, so they had to take parts from the two pumps to make one good one. This was at the beginning of the 2009 season. So unless someone has done something to the pump [parts] in the trailer, it is not likely to be usable.

Nice work on the track by the way. And Kudos to whoever designed the offroad course. It's definitely more challenging and fun than last year's layout.
