What front end has everyone been using in there Single cell car.. I have seen a lot of guys running the R5 front end to guys running the stock Associated original front ends. What has everyone found to work the best in there SC car.

They both work fine.

I know that is not really the answer you want, but it is true. Some say the R5 front end flexes to much, but in reality it has won a bunch of races, so how bad can it really be?

As long as the front end is smooth, and doesn't bind up at all you will be good to go.

To much flex is the case with the new R% frontend ... What races has it won .... I ordered 100 sets of lower and upper arms if anyone has a need ... Not saying the R% is not a good design just not good materials as with most rc stuff .Good material cost dollars ....Im staying on the old school for now SRM

Well it won the 21.5 class at Snowbirds last year with G-Honey, and they put them in the A in both Mod and 17.5.

Not trying to disagree that the material sucks, it just isn't going to make a diff in lower classes like 17.5 or 13.5.

Not an expert but I have the R5 front end on my G3s to get the bottom arm to bend it starts flexing the chassis first with the spring completely compressed. If my car is doing that in the turn I have some issues.Does not seam to be a problem.

Problem is this isnt the way the lower arm flexes when your on the track. For example on carpet you have so much side bite that when the car goes down in the corner the front tire doesnt really slide much. This causes a latteral force at the bottom of the tire effectively bending the lower arm down under the car. Grab the top and bottom of your tire and rotate the top of the tire away from the top arm and see how much flex you get....i was impressed you could get that much movement.

It still seams to move the enitre front end asemb but I am sure you have your reasons for saying its an issue.I am not saying you are wrong.

Is there flex in the lower arm only when it is spaced out away from the block, or all the time regardless of the spacing?

Do the CRC lower arms do this also, or just the standard R5 arms?

with single cell flex is not your freind like it was in 2 cell lipo racing .. I think you will see soon many solid chassis and trying to get rid of flex thats why I bought the upper and lower arms so I wouldnt have to run the R% frontend which just has the stuff we hadf been running for the last 2 years ...Just my 23 cents

Could someone explain what Front End Flex is in detail.. What is front end flex?? What does it do to ur car? Does it have to do with the structure and materials used..

It has to do with the way the chassis is cut in the front end. Also torsional flex has alot to do with the way the car handles. I think we are going to see alot stiffer chassis' and make the suspension do all the work.

Im not saying they cant be fast. I have still been running a hangman in single cell and it is a pretty flexy car. Works great. Just seems like history repeats itself. lol We started out with stiff cars, now we have flexy cars, and moving back to stiffer ones. :)

I think every racer just looks for ways to improve (duh). So as technology changes people try stuff that previously didnt work so well. :)

i think its more about personal feel, and what works best for you, some guys like more flex some guys don't, ME i just swiss cheese them then add braces to stiffin it up if need, but i have bad habbits about doing this and it does not alway's work out..lol

Well we are running tests to see exactly what the front suspension is handling concerning side loads and flex. I will try to make a video of the analysis.

I think alot will be surprised!
