I was standing outside TRU this morning talking to one of the number of flea market guys in my area. He's big into diecast but will buy anything that's hot. I guess the hot toy out this year is Zhu-Zhu pets. When they open the doors we walk down towards the diecast aisle. Halfway down he see's 4 of these Zhu-Zhu pet things sitting on the shelf. The look of indecision on his face was priceless. He makes up his mind and goes for the Zhu-Zhu pets leaving me all alone to check out the Greenlight. I find an Up in Flames 71 Chevy C-10 GM and a Speed '08 Vette Z06 GM. I love those furry little hamsters!

Yeah, they're pretty ridiculous. We get them at work every couple weeks, and the mom's that wait in line are nuts!

I'm glad they came into your favor today though! :D

LOL!! However, unless it's the newest, latest or greatest GM, ZZP's are pulling in more $$$ than ALL the run-of-the-mill Greenies right now!!

Joe you are right about the ZZP's. I just traded the pickup for a Hertz gold wheel Mustang GM. I'm happy with that trade!LOL!! However, unless it's the newest, latest or greatest GM, ZZP's are pulling in more $$$ than ALL the run-of-the-mill Greenies right now!!

Sooo...TRU by me has been out, but they said I could come the morning of the next shipment and wait. Well, rather than wait in the cold at 6 AM with 200 other moms, I decided to search around online.

I actually ended up using GoGrabber.com to get one of the hampsters. My mother in law told me about it- she uses it all the time I guess. What it does is "watch" items for you on Amazon.com and alerts you when Amazon gets new stock in- meaning their OWN stock, not the stuff that third party sellers try to sell at super inflated prices. I like it because it's actually FREE, and they don't make you sign up for all sorts of "affiliate offers" or anything bogus like that. It actually worked great- I was in the kitchen doing dishes, heard the alarm, logged in and bought it! Can't say I see what all the fuss is about over these things, but at least I don't have to buy my daughter a real hampster now! LOL

i realize selling zhu zhu pets is rampant. and profitable. as i've sold many "hot" christmas toys in the past. but, about 2 years ago, i sold a furby, or elmo that was the hot toy, to a couple, that really couldn't afford the high price, but did it because it was their daughters first christmas. i felt really bad, thinking i was making so much money selling childrens, or toddlers toys. and to people who really didn't have the means to afford the item. so i have never done it again.
selling diecast is an adult decision. and i don't have a problem with that.

Well said, kwik.
To profit from some parent's basic desire to make a child happy - on Christmas of all days - is dishonorable.

Pretty sure White Lightnings and Green Machines aren't targeted for little boys and girls.

No one is forcing parents to buy these for the kids. Tell your kid sorry mommy and daddy can find one. I have a 3 1/2 year old so i know it can be hard to tell them no, but im not gonna put my family in a bind over a hot toy that year. Its the parents fault for not just telling little Johnny no.

I met up with the flea market guy again at TRU this morning. I told him I had a yellow Zhu Zhu pet I had found the weekend before last. He asked what I wanted for it and I told him I was looking for a 70 GTO casting. He looked thru a couple boxes he had in the car and handed me the MCG10 70 GTO Judge GM. This guy has always been fair with me. I'm pretty happy with the trade.

why buy something if you dont need it for yourself or trades? i just dont agree with selling toys for a profit on ebay your just like the guys that scoop just thunts to sell them for top dollar. the reason you cant find these and why there selling for so much is because of people like you. i feel sorry for you if your really that bad off you gotta make 20-25 off a childs toy. 8$ is affordable for most familes but 30-35 on ebay nice way to screw the lower class!

HAHA No one makes anyone buy anything. I see something thats hard to find ill buy it and sell it. I dont force anyone to buy anything. And by me buying my limit of one or two zhu zhu pets make absolutly no difference at all in the grand sceem of things. I am the lower class, im that bad off that i need to make some money off toys. I am an Iraqi freedom veteran served two tours over there. Did 4 years in the AF and got out right as the economy went to hell. I have 2 daughters and a wife and im a pizza delivery guy, so yeah I need to make 25-30 off a hot toy. Thanks

well stated vw-wl-collector. your 100 percent correct. don't scalp a childs toy the lower class has to pay big bucks to get because diecast collectors are scalping them. as i said, i once did it. and saw how cruel it is. never again. but, unfortunately alot of people have no concern, and rip people off at christmas. it's sad.
if you buy and sell diecast, so be it. don't cheat the little girl at christmas. 3 year old girls aren't scalping green machines from anyone on here.
like charlie brown said, it's way to commercial. and that was 43 years ago!

Diecast scalpers aren't the only ones who do that. I work for Target and you should see some of the mothers with these toys. They are probably just as bad, if not worse and more blunt and aggressive than any of us.

couldn't agree more eurosport. it's pretty sad all around really. but i feel we have a hobby. lets stick to it.
i've seen the lines at tru when i'm making deliveries. and see them on ebay. but in my mind it's wrong to sell a 3 year olds toy for profit, to people who are trying to make a living with a job, not scalping childrens toys, and then have to spend their hard earned money to get their child something that the child will enjoy, and at the same time put a smile on the same parents face christmas morning also..

the moms or dads even, you speak of. in reality, i guess they are worse than a diecast scalper. those moms's or flea marketers, are doing it for pure profit and greed to ruin christmas for kids and parents who really work for a living. a diecast scalper is likely to reinvest the money into their hobby at least.
at the same time, people on this site are smart enough to know what they want and what they will pay or trade for it. if not, then don't mess with it.
neither is right..argue it all you want. like i said , i did it years ago, and deplore it now, because of what i saw. the greed was to me unacceptable in a situation dealing with such a toy every year.
no 3 year old is going to scalp a green machine to buy a zhu zhu pet. nor are most people looking for zhu zhu pets smart enough to know to scalp a green machine to buy a z.z. pet.

it's fun watching the bottom fall out of these prices for these toy pets!. all those scalpers here are desparately trying to sell them at anything above cost. seems they are plentiful now, except some new one just out.

I used to buy Zhu Zhu pets from Amazon.com because they have free shipping on like, everything, but the only ones they had were being sold (at WAY marked up prices) by third parties. However I heard about http://www.amazingwatcher.com which is a free website that will “watch” items for you on Amazon and let you know when amazon has them in stock at regular retail price.:)

Somehow I missed this topic on HT. Go figure :freak:

Great trade if you are not into making money on the flip side

Looking at the date you posted, the Zhu Zhu Pets were fetching
$45-$50 ea during that time you posted. Great trade for him if he
was only looking at the all mightly dollar. GM's are going down in
price. That's the onlt reason I can come up with in why he traded
a GM. Great trade no doubt for that GM Collector.
