Well, you have to give those poor Borg a break.
They didn't land in the arctic, (or was it Antarctica?),
they crashed as shrapnel.
The Enterprise destroyed the Sphere in orbit with
Quantum Torpedoes. The remnants apparently survived
re-entry, and splattered all over the ice.
A rough time for anybody.

I'd suggest that the Borg can survive just well in Zero-G Vacuum - because they turn on their deflector/lifesupport. Just enough to block out that darned inconvenient cosmic radiation and keep in their body heat and oxygen. Blood, on the other hand....

Sadly, they never developed the Life Support Belt that StarFleet had in the early 1970's... er... Stardate 1970's. :D

So, does that mean they turned on their body force fields when they entered the atmosphere after getting blown to bits by the E-E? Because if that's the case they might have not had the time to realise what was happening to them seeing as how they were burning up upon "rentry".

Whenever someone points out conflicting ideas or what I think are "facts" that I believe in, it makes it very hard to reconcile, ignore, or suppress the contradictions. Emotionally, it can cause a lot of stress when someone points them out. :D

It's pretty easy to dismiss Enterprise thus eliminating your anxiety.
